Just got this one today. To me the opening is an even balance between sweet and fresh. As it dries down the sweetness takes over while the oud plays lightly in the background. Thankfully the oud isn’t annoying. Personally I still like the EDP the most.

Short version: Try before you buy. Nice, but weak projection, long lasting though. And $180 for 2oz? Not me. But you do you -- maybe it performs better on you. Long boring version: I went to Macy's on Tuesday and hit 5 sprays of this. I love every Y prior to EDP Intense, and kinda like that one even. None of the Y sweetness I love in the opening. Did not push off my skin at all. Mall walked for a half hour to get it going. My wife could smell it when she hugged me, but even a foot away, nothing. Sitting in the car next to me an hour later, she said she could smell the mall hand soap on me but not the Y. If you catch a whiff of it, it does smell nice, like a "green" Y flanker in the drydown. And though it stayed close, it DID last for 10 plus hours if I put my arm to my nose. To compare my normal sprays for just enough: Sauvage Elixir 2, Le Male Elixir 3, Gucci Guilty Elixir 4, Boss Bottled Elixir 4. $180 for 2 oz. of Y L''Elixir when 5 sprays gave me nothing? No way. Cash grab.
Dior (with their Elixir) made other designer brands feel comfortable with charging so much for fragrances. With that being said, at least Dior seemed to give some value for what you pay. Sauvage Elixir is basically niche quality.

I'm just happy with the Y EDP Intense, and that's the only one that I'm going to keep using from this line. The rest is too sweet for me, Intense is perfect and everyone loves it.

I think it's the greatest of the Y line though, get a sample or go to a store if you are in a big enough town, I'm not, and give it a try, go back try it again lol. Maybe it just works really really well with me. I want to get more winter fragrances, but should get some new stuff for spring, and I need new bottles of Versace Pour Homme and Dylan Blue. Yes, L'Elixir is a worthy member of the YSL L line. But designer houses are letting customer support for popular fragrances lead them to position and price their offerings (elixirs) as niche when they are not.

Smelled it yesterday at Macy’s, Strong fragrance but not that much different than the EDP. The Oud isn’t detectable which is fine becuz I’m not big on that note but all in all it’s a fresh shower gel type fragrance & it’ll be buy worth when it hits discounters.
Got a discount at the perfume store I use. 135 euro, haven't tested it yet, only on my arm one time. But 135 euro was not bad and it does have a nice smell and lasts long on my skin. It is more "mature" than the EDP.
My 10/10 signature scent jack of all trades swiss army knife perfume is the Original Dunhill Icon. I like the resemblance with Terre D Hermes EDT, but Icon has a youthful vibe to it, it’s so versatile you can wear it anytime of the day, any season of the year.
Only ones good from the Y Line being an og collector. Y Live (discontinued) Y EDP Y Le Parfum. You can skip the rest. Pick one of those and you’re good
It is in the price point of the YSL Le Vestiaire collection. Perfumery can definitely be expensive to create. I paid $320 for Babycat, which is still a deal. Y elixir isn’t bad, it doesn’t appear to be worth the price to my nose. It’s also a little to youthful for me, seeing as I’m in my early 40s and want something more grown up.
I'll be able to get this one at a discount in about 6 months through of of my ebay sellers. Picked up Y le Parfum for 100mil for $70 about a few months back during a Christmas Sale

When i hear Oud, I do not think of "fresh". I feel like Yves Saint Laurent threw the note in there to ride the "Oud" wave of niche fragrances or high end fragrances to help justify that insanely high price point for a 2 ounce designer. Its more of a marketing ploy.

I happened to sample Y L'Elixir at the mall today on a strip and what the hell is this, on paper the smell is very much like chlorine with a soapy aspect. I don't like it at all this hurts the nose could it be the Oud? I have the strip with me after two hours it is still that strong awakward pure chlorine smell with some kind of neutral soap I didn't bother to rape my skin with that😂 but I can suggest Moncler Pour Homme Sunrise, its kinds like a creamy Sauvage EdP with something fruity and spicy some say Aventus-ish.
I wanted this to be Deeper, Darker & Stronger given its base of Oud & Incense than all the other flankers without completely losing its Y-DNA. I was hoping it would compare to the rest of the Y-line in the same manner that Dior Sauvage Elixir compared to its own line. Disappointing.
I've tried this and have said it in another reviewer. This new version is not deserving of the name "Elixir". When folks think of elixir they think of something that is very strong. Like you will choke the people in the room if you sprayed it 5 times like Sauvage Elixir does. This behaves the way that Bleu De Chanel does with it's Parfum version. For the first 10 or so minutes it projects, then it sits close to the skin. The Y Parfum version projects more than this. I'm not saying it's bad frag but the parfum version to me is better still. Seems like to me the way YSL names their stuff you have to think of it like it's 1 concentration lower. So a true elixir would probably have to be called elixir intense.
This is what the intense shouldve been. I'm honestly upset that this is a money grab because the scent is actually good but the price is ridiculous to what you are getting .

I think the elixirs are expensive yes, but the cost spray ratio is decent. my sauvage elixir is 2 years old and still 90% full and ive used it plenty.
That elixir is actually worth it. It’s super strong and a good scent. On the other hand this is just a junk cash grab.

NBA,NFL,NHL is the one who can afford a 2.0 designer fragrance. I'm 😢 I can't get this cologne.
I wanted this to be Deeper, Darker & Stronger given its base of Oud & Incense than all the other flankers without completely losing its Y-DNA.
I was hoping it would compare to the rest of the Y-line in the same manner that Dior Sauvage Elixir compared to its own line.
Disappointing.
I've tried this and have said it in another reviewer. This new version is not deserving of the name "Elixir". When folks think of elixir they think of something that is very strong. Like you will choke the people in the room if you sprayed it 5 times like Sauvage Elixir does. This behaves the way that Bleu De Chanel does with it's Parfum version. For the first 10 or so minutes it projects, then it sits close to the skin. The Y Parfum version projects more than this. I'm not saying it's bad frag but the parfum version to me is better still. Seems like to me the way YSL names their stuff you have to think of it like it's 1 concentration lower. So a true elixir would probably have to be called elixir intense.
To me it smells almost the same as Y e d p Intense.
I wish you would have done a box presentation to show off the new box.
Why though? It’s all about the fragrance surely. Normal people just throw the box away 🤷🏻

This is what the intense shouldve been. I'm honestly upset that this is a money grab because the scent is actually good but the price is ridiculous to what you are getting .
It’s a pass for me. I already have the rest, the Parfum is the best followed by the EDP intense. At this point they are just gouging customers.
This or Gucci elixir ??
