Jason Todd became the better Batman.
I love how everyone puts their own spin on Thomas and Martha's murder, but nobody ever violates Frank Miller's decision that Martha was hit in the necklace.
Her one weakness!
Tosh Omni Er...why? Because the string is supposed to be made by titanium?
@@alexmiller4755 No, because a good pearl necklace has knots between the pearls so you don't lose all the pearls when the string breaks. It's a fair point, although in "Death and the Maidens" it was suggested that the necklace was cheap costume jewelry because Martha would never wear her good pearls to the movies.
@@toshomni9478 Thomas was a cheap ass husband.
@@alexmiller4755 your a salty person aren't you? Lmao smh
Towards the end of Joker’s crowbar attack, Jason would be barely conscious or unconscious, so the Joker could claim he said anything and Jason wouldn’t know.
I have been avoiding Joker war due to Joker overload, but I really enjoyed this issue.
yo dude i get the joker overload but i think if you like this story you might like joker war. genuinely in my opinion both of these stories are probably the best the joker has been used in a while.
Bass Xevrix I will check it out, then.
That is a very good point and makes this all the more manipulative. (But less sad it would be sad if he actually had begged that off-panel)
Commissioner Gordon is giving Batman a disapproving look about Barbara because of the animated Killing Joke 😉

Shout to Sasha for making sure the content keeps flowing while she's literally bringing life into the world. You deserve to reap all the rewards your seeking for this channel.
My biggest issue is that Babs and Jason were attacked the same year-the first time we ever see her in a wheelchair is at his funeral, for crying out loud! How can those have been two different Jokers?!
lol mhmm. I'm not necessarily bothered, but I was surprised when I finally checked and found out that they both came out in 1988. Specifically because of the loose names the press was giving them before. The name "Silver Age Joker" has been tossed around. And while it admittedly has a nice ring to it, it seems the Silver Age of comics is supposed to be from 1956 - 1970. So it would technically be the "Bronze Age Joker". Or 'Jokers' considering that it applies to two of them. But that's semantics. Lol who cares, Silver Age sounds cool.
Sasha did show one of the early images of the three Jokers though, and it showed the Golden Age Joker (I'm guessing?), the 'Death of the Family Joker' and finally the modern Scott Snyder interpretation. But I gather that last one was dropped in favor of the more iconic 'Killing Joke' version. And no argument there. It's a cool design and impactful story, which will doubtlessly play will in this arc.
When Jason Fabok tweeted you can "take or leave," the Killing Joke I believes he means the Joker's backstory specifically because the Joker is an unreliable narrator. You said yourself people enjoy the Joker's backstory to be "multiple choice," which the Joker would agree with, and even in the pages of Killing Joke mentions that this is only how he recalls events some of the time. I think Jason Fabok means that Three Jokers is going to be left intentionally vague so in the end you can either accept or reject the three Joker theory, the same way you can accept or reject the Joker's backstory the way its presented in Killing Joke.
I interpret it as, Killing Joke was an ElseWorlds story that they folded into the main timeline.
It gets somewhat vaguer when Jason sort of kills one of the three Jokers. I feel things start to get real when you have a corpse in hands. No, I hope they keep It off canon, and forget It as soon as It ends.

Glad we can all come together and enjoy Jason being drawn like an absolute snack....nearly makes up for how much this book made me cry about him YET again....please DC, just let my poor boy be happy for five minutes.
It’s kinda fuvked up that they popped the tire on the ambulance they probably could of just asked them to pull over and they could yank out Jason
"Three Jokers, it's not, that's impossible! "
Joker: (stonefaced) Mmmhmmm
I maybe tired of Jokers, plural, at least this was actully alright, plus I get to see Batgirl in a good costume, it's been awhile, and nice to see Jason all caked up, Dick is a bit of a pig, hogging all those slices.
Yes, it was nice seeing Barbara in her original BG outfit. I don't know who came up with the "hiking boots with a backpack" look she's got going on now, but it's awful.
So there is a theory that in this canon the Joker didn't kill Jason, but nearly did, hence why Jason has scars on the back of his head; and the Joker talks about taking him to the edge. Discuss!!
I think they should have us call a number to decide.
They should update it and have us hit like on a photo and leave a comment lol
@@CasuallyComics Imagine if they did two really short comic trailer kind of videos for an event like that. Could be really cool.
I think that's why he comes back as red hood to get revenge on the joker for almost murdering him
The crowbar didn’t kill him but the warehouse explosion did, I thought that was covered wasn’t it? He was taken to the edge broken even, plus the lazarus pit didn’t help either.
Are we getting a video on Sebastian's cheetah, I'm praying
Oh yes!

I'm also in the liking it more than I expected camp, mostly because having this and Joker War at the same time proved that I'm able to get a little bit of Joker Fatigue which I didn't think was possible, usually I'm down to clown pretty constantly, and guess when they're both at least interesting, still am. Just really wish they weren't coming out at the same time...

Sasha, checking out Jason now 😱 Dick Grayson disappointed 😭😭
This sounds cool so far. Jason finally gets to kill a Joker. Must have felt good. Good for Jason
I think that Joker was just making stuff up to get to Jason. That is simply what the Joker does.
It would have been super sad and heartwrenching for Jason to have resorted to that when he was being beaten. Just, it was hard to fathom the sheer pain the kid was in until I heard Sasha read that line. I immediately "heard" it again in an actual child's voice rather than Sasha-as-Joker-mocking-Jason.
That shit fucking hurt to hear. A kid, even one as jaded as Jason broken that way by physical pain and the inability of anyone least of all a child to really comprehend another human being intentionally inflicting that kind of pain on them.
I hope the actor from titans is young jason and the the actor how play red hood in under the red hood comes back
Young Jason is being played his orginal actor, Vincent Martella (Phineaus in Phineaus & Ferb), and as of right now, don't know if Jensen is confirmed back.
Maybe they will replace him with the actor from titans if he doesn't show up. Hope he does he's a great actor
@@teend.cfan1591 They better not, because no offense, it would be such a downgrade, especially when Jensen loves the role.
I would not watch it. If they use the new actor. I like the og
Jensen Ackles is like 40 something tho he'd be a bit too old for the role
So I'm guessing there was no (Bat-Shark-Repellent) in this story?
I bought the Killing Joke when it came out. It was originally a Elseworlds book. When the brought it in to continuity the impression was that they didn't bring the entire story in. Barbara got shot, much of the rest of the story was not acknowledged, however. Probably because they weren't considered appropriate for an all ages book (The Killing Joke was a "mature readers" book).
Barbara was a good representative because she was never intended to be one. My objection to making Barbara Gordon Batgirl again is the simple issue that she was a much better character as Oracle than she was as Batgirl. The existence of Oracle contributed deeply to the existence of Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordan, Batman, Nightwing, anybody who happened to be Robin that week, and any character who had taken up the cape and cowl of Batgirl. Personally I think Stephanie Brown was the best Batgirl as the editors on the Bat-books never let the writers of Cassandra Cain's book give her a personality.
Pretty sure the rest of the story wasn't acknowledged because it all lead to the ending that strongly implied Batman strangled Joker to death. They wanted Barbara paralyzed but didn't want Joker dead or for Batman to be a murderer.
@@kinginthenorth1437 The mainstream DCU never acknowledged Joker stripping Barbara naked and taking pictures of her as it implied a certain kind of assault. Stripping Commissioner Gordon naked and putting him on display is another thing that was cut from the mainstream. Oddly enough they did acknowldedge Bats and the Joker laughing together at the end of the story as Babs was pretty pissed at him about that.
@@katnerd6712 No shit, they didn't bring that up in a kids book. Wouldn't expect them to and not mentioning that doesn't change anything about the Killing Joke.
Bringing Killing Joke into cannon sucks because it destroys the implied ending and point of the entire story.
Stephanie Brown forever. I've got my Oracle figure looking down at me right now.
@@kinginthenorth1437 The Bat-books were "all-ages" by that point, primarily aimed at teens, not "kids". Pretty much the only thing of relevance that was brought in from Killing Joke was Batgirl being crippled. Beyond that the book stands on its own, outside the DCU.
Crippling Barbara Gordon and making her Oracle was one of the best ideas DC every had during the 90's.. Leaving the rest of it out was also a good idea as the Joker's entire origin should never be revealed. That's how Marvel ruined Wolverine.
My favorite part was the little nods to their physical appearances like how the Death in the family Joker was distinctly thinner which was meta wise due to how they chose to draw him at the time
Or the fact that they add a significant amount of age lines to the original and he isn't stuck in a permanent smile and seems to be very methodical about how he's going about this
I was a kid when Killing Joke came out It was very awesome and fresh at the time The Image of Joker laughing hysterically after coming out of the chemicals grabbing his hair Every kid wanted that on a Tee Shirt
0:26 "Grandma Sasha, what are you laughing at?"
"Oh dearie- I'm never getting out of this chair!"
I am in the camp of "UGH JOKER" generally, but I like where the comics have been going lately. They can keep the focus on him in the comics, and put it away in the films, and I'll be happy.
Loved this issue, can't wait for more and I loved how Joker and Todd's relationship was depicted in this
I don't think I want a "three Jokers" that is actually three different physical dudes. Even so, I've loved pretty much all of the Black Label stuff, so I'm in for the ride on this one. It's good, but I'm hoping there's more to this than it literally having been three different guys this whole time. I'm a big fan of the Pale Man from Joker Ghost Stories (Endgame), so I was kinda wanting to see that factor in. Who knows? Maybe it will.
You’re one of the best RUclipsrs ever. I love every video you post. So thorough and witty.
I am gonna miss this Joker though. The acid flowers and throwing cards will always be iconic
Definitely agree with the elseworlds thing. My favorite things seem to be either vintage or elseworlds in comics. My heart goes all happy if someone mentions Flashpoint, M2, or 2099. Still, even as an alternate take 3 Jokers feels like diluting the one. Am I supposed to really accept the world's greatest detective never picked up on fighting 3 different people? And if they are going to that extreme, why not lampshade the ridiculousness and make it a council of Jokers. Joker clone saga! Joker Corps!
Or maybe I should just accept there are 10 different Batmans and this is the one from Collegehumor. 🤷
I read it the minute I brought it home and it was one of the best comics I ever read! Also thanks for The Mask reference. One of the most underappreciated comic book films ever made.
heyyy I was the one that left that comment bout Jason suffocating! I legit saw in a comic(probably under the red hood or lost days) that they showed his death certificate and it said he suffocated, so yeah
also wow I was also wary of this comic but it seems to be kinda cool so far?? I hope you do more of it XD
3:30-3:42 You might not be able to make everyone happy, but there's often an often-overlooked happy medium, or at least, certainly, better alternatives to some decisions.
For example, if they wanted Babs to be an ambulatory Batgirl again, there were ways to do that *without* erasing or atrociously reinventing/retconning her successors.
Trying to give Comicstorian a run for his money with those voices, huh?
I am in Love with this Comic and Jason Fabok is Incredibly Talented in his art. Thanks Sasha. Love the Channel
"He's got untrademarked fish! Get him!"
Yes. My God. Why is nobody else saying The Killing Joke being canon is not up to us in response to Fabok? Thank you.

5:17 If it were really "the 90's or something", it would have been drawn/ruined by Erik Larsen. Yeah, I went there. And yeah, I know that he scribbled for Marvel. Probably because DC wouldn't have touched him with a 12-foot Ukranian.
5:42 I was gonna say you'd be a Wendigo coming from Canada, but I checked. Sasquatch was part of Alpha Flight, so you're golden =]
Ooh, a longer video. I stan.
I’m loving the longer videos with better analysis 🤩😋
"Take that, Dick!" Punctuation is very important
The "three Jokers" reveal that came at the end of New52 didn't fash me at all.
If anything, it intrigued me.
Batman is supposed to be THE detective. THE! And he didn't trip to there being three Jokers?
How did that puddin' just slip past his all seeing self?
So, intrigued.
This first issue was well done. The art was pretty well paced for the story, and the writing was on the mark.
Awaiting the next issue.
I'm in the not caring all that much camp. I like what I like and I dislike what a dislike. I honestly couldn't care less whether or not certain stories are "canon" as that is in a near constant state of flux. DC comics for example has been around for nearly a century so of course the continuity is gonna be a hot mess after all that time.
"A...or B? Forehand...or backhand?"
18:15 Damn Rich Little your impression was on point!
In love with the official Casually Batman Voice. More dialog readings please.
jason todd did the thing i wanted him to do for years.
I noticed that, when reading the Joker, I hear YOUR voice for him in my head instead of Hamill’s 😂
Well this is intriguing! The mystery of why there are three Jokers, why they work together so well, and why this doesn’t feel like over-saturation. Part of the Joker’s allure has always been that we (and Batman) don’t know who he is. In contrast to Bruce Wayne,a prominent member of society, he’s a nobody. Or anybody. That’s the point. Does the presence of a number 2 require the presence of a number 1? Regarding the other stories, it does beg the question: what is cannon -this week? Some of the Elseworlds books in a previous continuity were relegated to being different Earths. Gotham By Gaslight/Amazonia was Earth 19. Kingdom Come 22, etc. No wonder it’s multiple choice. Also when did Batgirl take a shot? What did I miss?
Thank you for commenting the same thing I thought about when you mentioned how many scars Batman has and no one seems to notice them.
This is far better than I expected it to be.
Off I go to read the issues of Batman on the know-it-all chair. You're right, Sasha. As soon as they know someone needs to sit on it, he makes a bee-line for the chair. He is clearly happy as a clam. I love Jordan calling him on calling it 'my chair' three seconds after he sits down. Clearly he would count himself a happy Bat to just have that chair and know everything. Also, his black outfit blends in very well with the chairs colour scheme.
Enjoyed both the comic and your commentary, but now I really wonder if the next issue will be called Two Jokers, since you know, Jason took the shot and boy did he!
I was nervous about this three jokers story, but I'm kinda interested now. Thanks for the review Sasha!
I remember buying Killing Joke when it came out. At the time I wasn't burnt out on the Joker like I ended up being so it was good then. I suspect I never bought into the Alan Moore hype.
19:03 I adore the art in this panel. It gives me major Clarice Starling FBI training vibes and I am here for it.
I just finished reading a comic series called Invinsible, I would love to hear your perspective on literally anything to do with it.
He's the GOAT nerd.
Plot twist: Sasha is the fourth Joker.
She's the flash point joker
Unrelated and a year late but I really like Jasons costume here- it’s darker and more disconnected from the Bat Family which suits the story well
I’ve been binging so. So. Many of your videos. I am in love with how much the second issue of Harley Quinn black white and red when originally you thought it might be forgotten. Ahhh I love all your videos.
Your pronunciation of the word "spoilers" is my second favorite. My first is from River Song.
10:12 Chaos War is also a Marvel event where Hercules fought Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the Chaos King.
"I've had stories I really enjoyed MESS UP CANON FOR YEARS"
This... This really makes me feel represented as a comic book fan.
I can't personally see Jason saying something like the "I'll be your robin" thing, I just see him as far too stubborn for it. But I do think that line still works purely because he was being hit in the head and there's a lot that happened in between then and now. It's entirely possible he doesn't remember all the details. So Joker could very well be saying Jason said that just to play into the probability that Jason doesn't remember everything and couldn't be sure he didn't say that. I think that would be just as tormenting.
We need to remember the after learning there were 3 jokers Bruce never asked how many batmen were there. Depending on how medha it gets we could find out that there were 4 or 5 Batman dealing with 3 or more jokers. I just blew my own mind .
I think this take place before doomsday clock and dr manhattan was the one who split the joker into 3 different version of himself just to steer batman away from learning things
The Arkham Knight writer would like some credit for that reveal at the end of how far Jason got broken...
Wow so cinematic with that sudden gun shot!
I have given up on having high hopes or expectations.
That being said, I will give this a go. I guess the fan in me still yearns for the days of yore.
Also, your Joker voice, your Joker voice.
I love your videos so much !! I’m just getting into comics and your videos are so fun and helpful! Thanks for doing what you do!!!😊
omg! I love your eyeshadow on this one!! 💛 and it matches the shirtttt 😫
I'm mixed about the ending with Jason's note getting sweeped away, but the art is amazing. Especially love how Batgirl is drawn here
DC Continuity has gotten so bad, EVERYTHING is take or leave.
Head canon is the only canon I say.
Your hair looks amazing! Very Harley Quinn/Punchline
Just read it, thinking about how back in the 90's there was Tangent Comics, great read btw, and in that world there were 3 jokers. Did was this an old 90's idea that they never did? Was this some kinda internal secret that they have been wanting to reveal for decades? Did they accidentally or purposely rip of the tangent story? Or is it just a coincidence? Inquiring minds want to know!
I love your take on the dually of Jason's need to kill the Joker and wanting to do things Batmans way. Totally deserves a Sub from me. Im here for it 🙌
Love your hair!
While I'm very much a fan of that era,it seemed like the final issues of Chris Claremont's 17 year run on Uncanny X-Men were noticably text-heavy. Of course that was pretty much the point where the X-Men's accumulated lore had become quite dense. Issue #274 sticks out to me as one of the most noticeably text/dialogue heavy issues of any comic book I've ever seen. Not that it detracted from what a great issue it was. Magneto, Rogue, and Nick Fury all in the Savage Land and fighting on the same side. Beautiful cover. Jim Lee artwork inside and out. I love Jim Lee's depiction of Magneto.
love the new hair style god bless you and the new lil comic connoisseur
A good read. It was good to have a Batman story where the violence is not nice, and leaves scars. Which is as it should be. Hopefully it will end up being something more than a project that ties up loose continuity. I have read the occasional doctor who story like that and thought at the end 'did we really need to know that?'. The art was gorgeous. It's hard to reconcile what's going on here with Joker war, but I think this is the kind of thing, like Killing Joke, that will stand alone but be referenced in everything else further down the line. Looking forward to part two.
Please complete the Cheetah series by making a video on Sebastian Ballesteros, the male Cheetah 🐆!!!
Whoah, nice eyeshadow/shirt match! Looks awesome!!
I was super-skeptical, but loved it. The call backs, but willing to expand on what came before (like being my Robin), the art and the characterizations. How can this have three good Jokers and some projects not even one? Vote for it out of canon, though, like White Knight. A sign that DC doesn't make every decision based on continuity.
The cold open was a third of the video. I approve of that sort of opening.
Having it be an Elseworlds would make it a lot less messy.
Woah! I love how striking your hair is!
Batman sucks at follow up questions. Why didn’t he ask what are the 3 jokers’ name?
I love the art and the ending. Today is a good day for Jason Todd, and I hope this stays canon. He's been denied his vengeance long enough, we can let him have one. Also agree with exploring more of Barbara and Jason, they teased it a bit at the end of N52 Red Hood and the Outlaws
Absolutely love your channel! Stumbled into it my accident and so happy I did
So far looks awesome!
Honestly it's best not to overthink the DC continuity as it's so convoluted and its hard to figure out which stories (especially stories from pre Flashpoint) are canon in post Rebirth.

My pet theory, which will probably be proven wrong with this series, is that every time there's been a multiverse reboot a new Joker comes about. They don't get folded into each other or fade from existence because the Joker is hyperaware. He knows of the 4th wall, and knows he's a character in a comic book, so things like editorial mandate and changed worlds amount to nothing for him. Also, that the Jokers, knowing this, work together because they think they can put on a better show for the fans.
