Really miss Keith. Liam used to live in my village here in Braintree Essex. They filmed the outer space in my village it’s crazy. I wish we could rewind life like the tapes.
I died at 19:00 when they stated that Keith Flint angered PARENTS because THEY found him scary. What about the actual kids? Since the 90s was full of a lot of experimental and heavy bands like Gwar and Rammstein, I highly doubt that Keith Flint would scare them. He was just being himself like Keith explained in the video right after. I swear the parents in the 90s were so close-minded, but that's just me. R.I.P. Keith Flint
It's interesting seeing this in the 17 years after AONO & Baby's Got a Temper was released with Liam Howlett disowning Baby's Got a Temper completely and utterly hating AONO to the point where he won't even list it on Spotify. Something he said earlier in this program about not being able to "write to order" honestly explains why AONO went so wrong and it's definitely because of his creative energy being compromised in order to produce an album exactly like Fat of the Land in order to satisfy the contractual obligations to XL and Maverick, who subsequently dropped the band after AONO failed to repeat the success of FoTL. Keith and Maxim talk about writing songs and being on this record only for them to be conspicuously absent which makes me wonder if this was around the time when Liam and Keith were at odds w each other and Maxim had to be the mediator. It honestly makes me wonder how much better AONO would have and could have been if Liam had been given the space and time to just write songs at his pace rather than be pressured into it by a contractual obligation to make another FoTL. There was a lot of potential for some songs if they had been worked on more or scrapped entirely but so much of it felt like Liam was just putting anything on there to satisfy the record companies, especially when a lot of those songs come off like he'd been listening to classic rock stations in his bedroom and decided to put an EDM spin to them, which I think also explains why he hates this one so much given his attitude earlier on about sampling wrt the Max Romeo sample on out of space in the early days. Even Liam can hear how lazy AONO is compared to his other work. It's sad though, you can kinda see in the interviews how much Liam is kinda phoning it in about AONO being worked on, everyone is so burnt out and the end result is a testament to that. Anyway I loved watching this bc it's so rare seeing such a huge chunk of TV time devoted to the Prodigy's history, I wish there was something more in depth!!
In my opinion, AONO is one of the best albums Liam has put out. I liked how it took on a more sleazy electro vampy kind of sound. What makes it even more impressive is that Liam made it all on a laptop aswell.
@Bloody Pulp As stated, it's just my opinion. It sounds so different to their other albums and is basically a Howlett solo record with guest vocalists. It does have a sleazy vampy kind of sound though, the sassy female vocals which are all over the album prove that.
