I’m can honestly say I’m very excited to see this movie available in 4K. Despite these so-called critics reviews. I find this movie to be fun and quite entertaining.
@@reviewforthetube6485 it was so hyped up for being one of the most expensive productions. I really think if it wasn't for that reason, it would have been rated higher.
Shot on 35mm, which generally means a 4K native transfer: www.blu-ray.com/movies/Waterworld-4K-Blu-ray/241013/ UHD contains theatrical cut in 4K and also the extended cut in HD via Extras submenu. I agree 100% with your review! The video could've been better but the audio was on point! Great review as always! Are you gonna review the Hulk? I thought it was good.
I may not be a huge fan of this film but since I'm a sucker for 4K, HDR, and Atmos/DTS:X I'm still going to pick this disc up whenever I get a chance! And if I'm not mistaken I think this movie did get a new 4K scan.
Agree with everything in this review. This was one of those discs where for the first 10 minutes I kept wondering if I accidentally put in the regular blu-ray instead of the 4K disc but I didn't feel like getting up to check. Definitely one of the most disappointing film to 4k movies in my collection. But the atmos sound track brought the A-game all the way through.
Sparechange Shane no DI exist for this movie (4K scan Arrow 1080p!) so this is a nativ 4K UHD + please compare this to the Arrow BLU-RAY of possible thanks dankeschön
Hello Shane, will you able to review Life of Pi 4K? If you have done that before can you please link it to me. I just want your impression before I buy that.
Sean i use a Klipsh r12sw sub and i tried to listen the bass on the beginning and i heard nothing. In general it is an amazing sub and i have set it on LFE and the volume in half. Am i doing something wrong with the settings because in the ice melting in the beginning i barely hear anything. I would really appreciate your input in this
I've got some good memories with a certain someone with this movie lol crazy how our minds use things like that to remember times and puts things you saw in place as the thing that reminds you of that memory if you get what I'm saying but yeah great movie and lived the movie review buddy keep up the good videos man loving it
Boi this is one of the best post apocalyptic movies and movies in general.I wonder how it flopped. Its a cult classic.Humor is top notch too.I will sure purchase it on 4k bluray for my collection.
Jim Cameron "so what" you say? Did I ask for your opinion? I'm not picking a set over the other, I simply said I have the Arrow one. By the way, if you are such an expert you should know that the Ulysses cut is not the TV cut
Waterworld was not a flop.It actually made money. It did much better than it was supposed to do.It was predicted to be a disaster because of the massive budget overruns but did quite well.
Also after listening to the machine gun scene, which i found simply good not great, I switched to the opening sequence of overlord in Atmos and the difference in loudness for instance was stuggering. You could immediately say waterworld was an old mix and way worse in dymamics than overlord
I was hoping you would review this I’ll buy this just because there’s no black bars this movie 🍿 is an acquired taste but It’s a guilty pleasure of mine
Being this is universal that have a bad track record for using DNR I think I will pass on this 4k looks worst than a forgery. I have it on DVD and bluray may up grade it again back on THX LASERDISC as owned it first on THX LASERDISC Dolby Stereo matrix, saw it 4 times at the cinema 3 times in Dolby Stereo at ABC screen 1 Bournemouth UK and once in dts at at UCI tower park in screen 5. May up grade to the dts THX LASERDISC. 2:22 100 times I doubt it. Also there is no LFE.1 on the DVD or the bluray and I'm guessing least not where its suppose to be. I think I must have played the opening many times by just pressing chapter 1 again and again. I doubt the even the dts LASERDISC will have the LFE.1 where one might expect t to be it might be on the split surrounds I don't know? It was never present at UCI tower park at the time since no subs was installed even when the cinema opened in 1989 and with Dolby Stereo SR subs was recommended but never had subs installed until late upper part 90's maybe early 2000 when I noticed a JBL 4645B behind the screen around 2000 when I saw "Mission To Mars" in SR-D. I'm sure the 4k remix near field would have an LFE.1 but is it the legit LFE.1 of 1995 and did it have an LFE.1 as dts releases had the LFE.1 merged with the split surrounds kind like, 70mm Dolby Stereo format 43. Speed (1994) never had an LFE.1 on the first first DVD release or the THX LASERDISC AC-3, yet surprise, surprise, was on the second release edition DVD.... curious? Vertigo doesn't appear to have an LFE.1 5.1 yet in the documentary its mentioned mixed in "6 channel dts" six like as in six channels yet on the DVD not a tiny hint of LFE.1 is present. So unless you use bass management have speakers set to smell I suggest you use LARGE and if the speakers can't handle it then get speakers matched LCR that can handle it even small ones can handle it at lower SPL db levels. Throw that bass management in the dustbin its not necessary to use it.
So you will sit though Waterworld, but you don't wanna sit though First Blood? That's messed up, but at least now I know someone else who likes this movie besides my wife.😁
Strongly disagree with the review. This 4k version is inferior to the recent arrow release of the 2 disc set. The arrow release is much more stable and superior in all aspects. And the source was a 4k master. This 4k release was definitely rushed and not derived from the same remaster. The only saving grace is the Dts X master. The 1080 remaster is sharper all throughout with no softness whatsoever. I have made side by side comparison s of both versions on a 84 inch projector screen. The Hdr and color timing on the 4k release appear s forced and not a true representation of the original release.

Waterworld was nominated for one Oscar: Best Sound Mixing. And there is a very good reason for that.
So glad I found this channel. Just getting into 4k movies and you are spot on with this movie. It looks amazing.
The last movie produced with 100% practical effects. Budget buster but great movie!
Cigar not true 100% CGI free! The ballon flying scene!
Same with raise the titanic.
Pretty sure that shark monster was cgi af.
