I've loved Aisling for years but this? Her reaction and answer to Natasha's "ask me anything about motherhood" question is THE BEST and so was her response to the absolutely beautiful Irish name she's chosen for her kid.
Never before has someone emphasised Natasha's flaws so much. Backhanded "compliment" about being sturdy, acting like the fountain of wisdom for motherhood, criticising her name choice, Aisling handled all SO well. Good on her. And hopefully humbling for Tash.
I love Tash and Moshe but when someone asks a REALLY great, thought-provoking question and then Natasha immediately asks a completely different (usually not as helpful) question before the caller even gets to answer…and then you never end up getting the answer to the original question….it erks me so bad. It happens a lot too, i’ve noticed. But w/e the episode and guest were still great. I’ve enjoyed every podcast I’ve heard Aisling on. She is hilarious and thoughtful. And gorgeous of course.
Thanks for standing up for the childless single ladies 🧡. We do a lot of unnoticed work. -fellow Neurodiverse person. Getting married and having kids is fine, but not a goal or accomplishment.
Can women who want kids stop dating the few men who don't? I don't want kids and most men are obsessed with having kids. Set him free so we can date them (a better match). There are too many men who already want kids. Pick one of them. There's also no age limit on having kids. There's adoption. It's cheaper than birthing a child in the US. But it is romantic to pick your partner over a kid. Those "fertile" studies are from the 1800s btw when people died at 45. And hate to break it to everyone, but the same guys who donate sperm clinically ARE the guys who would do a ONS without a condom. Same people. One just cuts out the middle man. If people do that, get everyone tested.
Natasha is breathtakingly obnoxious about motherhood, like she's the first person to discover it and she must impart wisdom to everybody else about it. It was wonderful to see Aisling completely undercut and undermine her insistence on defining himself solely through motherhood. It was great to hear Aisling completely validate singledom, or not having children as a completely reasonable choice and also acknowledge that becoming pregnant isn't some incredible achievement. I still don't know if Natasha picked up on any of that, or whether she's still in her ''I must evangelize about motherhood to everybody'' bubble.
I'm a Genevieve, not a Geneviéve, and it is a MASSIVE pain in the ass, always has been, always will be. I am not grateful for the name, not for one minute. You have to have the conversation with every single new person you meet where they come to terms with why you are called that, as if it matters for them to make themselves comfortable with it, and it never really seems anything but a totally dead end conversation that ultimately bores both parties to death. I cherish people who never bring it up and just roll with it.
Saoirse. Lovely. At least some people may have a clue how to pronounce it thanks to Saoirse Ronan. At least Aisling didn’t choose one of the harder ones like Bláithín, Caoimhe, Aoife, or Niamh.
At 40 it's too late to freeze eggs. Today, egg quality declines rapidly after age 30, and by age 35, about 70 percent of eggs are genetically defective. Frozen eggs do not guarantee fertilization, nor a blastocyst or baby. Get your AMH, FSH, and estrogen levels checked immediately, and have your antral follicle count (AFC) checked via ultrasound. Act now if you maybe want to become a mum one day! By the way, sperm quality has also declined significantly in recent decades and therefore a potential partner should have a semen analysis carried out. Unfortunately, one in six people is infertile, usually without knowing it - (in)fertility treatments are no joke and are damn expensive.

Statuesque is the word Natasha was fumbling for.

When Natasha guessed Róisín Aisling was impressed, when Natasha guessed BoSheen next I nearly choked from laughter.
Saoirse meaning freedom has a similar meaning as Frida, which means sturdy.
Yes! I wonder if Natasha knows that?
“First of all, that’s my life…” shut it down, Moshe warned her too…
Been a fan forever but this episode has been what I have needed to hear for months. Thank you, especially Natasha.😢❤
Natasha I always wonder what you write down in your notebook. 😂❤

Love you guys , love the podcast but I'm pretty positive it's very very rare to freeze eggs at 41 .
