I love my 5D MK2. Used the same camera house for years when I was shooting for a lical studio. I had to go out and get one after I had to give up photo as a job. But I bougth one for myself. I now have a 5D MK2, a 6D, a 70D and one from the first series of the EOS-M. I LOVE cameras that are sort of "first of their kind". :)
I bought a Canon 5D mark II 2 years ago and it takes great photos. Although the maximum technically acceptable sensitivity is 1600, it is enough for me. You can add a modification to the magic lantern software, but the classic one is enough for me. Thank you for a great guide. Greetings from Poland
This is such an incredible resource. Thanks for doing this for complete noobs like me (and repeating things a bunch of times). I feel like I went from, staying at a Holiday Inn last night, level to knowing enough to speak conversational 5D2 in under an hour. Thanks Tom!
A little bit repetitive 😄but I don't care sometimes we need to repeat. Had so much fun listening to you. No "guru talk". Just plain and simple. Was just gifted a sed 5D Mk II. Appreciated the info
I just bought that camera used yesterday. I have been using a M50 mirrorless however, I wanted to learn to use a full framed camera also. I loved your video and just subscribed. Thank You!
You will love this camera. It’s an oldie but a goodie, but it takes phenomenal photos and video even though it’s not 4K it’s still a just amazing video. Canon was way ahead of their time with this one. Enjoy your camera. Thanks for watching.
Yes, this is a great camera. Takes awesome video and fantastic pictures and it’s 15 years old and it works like a charm. Thanks for watching your camera.
On the new versions, you can connect to your phone and load the pictures directly through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi but I’ve never done it with this phone. Thanks for watching.
@@TomLeeman Got it thank you. I have the 5D Mark II just like you in this video but Mark II doesn't have bluetooth or Wifi connectivity so I was curious how you managed to connect it to the phone. Did you use a cable of some sort? Here: 40:52 Thanks
In the old days, we could use a memory card with wifi capability. Or we can use a USB card reader connected to your phone. Otherwise we have to get pictures to our phones via computers.
Great video! I needed this and I appreciate how you started from the very basics. this is my first camera so I had no idea what I was doing at all. Thanks for sharing ☺️
Thanks a lot for the useful instructions! I bought one used very recently and it was suprisingly cheap. Now i got some basic knowledge when i try it out for the first time. Probably in a day or to. Will check around at your channel for more stuff. Thanks again!
Good luck with your new camera. These things are awesome. They shoot great video and take phenomenal pictures. I think you’re gonna really like it. Mines over 15 years old. It’s still great.
@@TomLeeman And you know, I realised that I had a old Canon 28-80mm usm lens! (First generation of a older kit-lens system). Very dusty and nearly forgotten back in a shelf where I store the old ones. Was supposed to be one of the better ones and it is ment for full frame. A great start I think. Thanks for the wellwishing , 'm sure I will enjoy this camera very much!
You can try the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM. It's an all-purpose lens albeit expensive. However, its predecessor EF 28-135mm IS is an old gold lens. Get one if u can find it with the old gear sellers' shops.
Great tutorial for a great camera! I have four of these and looking to add more as I'm building a multicam RUclips studio using these cameras. I always have a 5D Mk II with me for stills too.
I can see the video was posted in June 2022, fourteen years later than the first introduction of the legendary DSLR. Yet it doesn't seem irrelevant at all rather; very relevant and necessary for many photographers. I own it since 2018 after buying it in almost mint condition with only 5k shutter count. I'm a hobbyist and this is my main camera along with another legend, it's predecessor the 5D Classic. Use them for landscape and street photography purposes. The 5DII also shines in wildlife photography if used for selective or even all purposes. Just love this camera. Thank you for the video.
Yes, I would have to agree with you. This is a fantastic camera. That shoots amazing video and photography. Canon was way ahead of its time when they introduced it. Thanks for watching.
Yes it does. It has auto focus if you do a half depression on the actuation button it will auto focus you’ll see the dots, turn red in the eye viewer that means you’re ready to go and snap your picture
Call M glad it helped. Enjoy your canon 5D Mark two it is a great camera shoot unbelievable video and the one I have is almost 15 years old and it still is good as anything that they make today.
This particular camera, you’ll need a CF card which is a very large card the later iterations take smaller Estes in MicroSD’s but this one you’re gonna need the big card. Good luck thanks for watching.
You would be better served by native CF Cards. 64GB cards which at last glance can hold 1620 RAW+JPEG Images are like 20-30€s over on ScAmazon. In a pinch you could use an SD to CF Adaptor, but, sadly no native SD 4U. But the good news is the Mk III is currently at were this Camera was just 18 Months ago. Pros Dual SD, and 61 Point AF points vs the singular CF, and the Holly sum of 9 AF Points on the MK II. The Cons? New Button / Control layout, over the older 1xD and xD Series Bodies.

Tom, thanks for your Canon 5D Mark II videos. I'm a Panasonic Lumix user with a G9, but I always have a backup camera. I only got 6 minutes in and had found that so many assumptions had been made that I unfortunately lost trust in the information being relayed. For example, not all card readers will be correct way with label up when sat on your desk. Some are label down. You need to refer to the keyway Channels down each side of the card... One of which is a wider channel than the other. These should prevent incorrect insertion, but don't always. A visual check is best before it becomes habit. Not all of us use Made either.
