Another hot tip is you can rotate the source footage in the Apple finder. Select a clip > left click > quick actions > rotate left or hold option to select rotate right.
Under the effects controls in Premiere, you can also right click on any effect and save its parameters as a preset. I use to do this a lot for rotating clips as well.
This is the clearest explanation so far :) One more step for help - I shoot 4k vertical (for wiggle room), the first step is great and solves so much problems, but now I have a cropped view of the video on a horizontal source view (black bars each side), and what is the easiest/best way to change that?
The best way is to actually rotate the clips at source outside of premiere pro, I'm on a macbook and if you organise all your vertical footage into one folder, select all of them and then use rotate left and it will batch rotate them at source, and they will be perfect once you import them into premiere pro!
Ive been using this tip for a while but whenever I get into workflows that require masks, they are clipped into squares. Presumably because it wouldve been out of frame when horizontal, yet i have not found an easy fix other than exporting the source clip vertically first. This is with premiere pro, I may just be dense.
Thank you for this super useful tip!! You've saved me so much time!!! I've been manually doing it for so long thinking there must be an easier way to do this, but never got round to looking cause I'm lazy haha! Why did I not search for your video sooner! Thank you!
Omg, I feel so stupid!! I've used 2-3 hours rotating clips in Resolve... when I could just have highlighted all the clips.. Damn haha, but thank you so much!!! this is sooooo useful
But as soon as i apply color space transform, it makes a black border on top and on the bottom of the vertical video. Can you tell me why that is? Seems like a bug, but i have seen that the transform tool remains horizontal, maybe that’s the problem.
I still have one huge problem, all your clips in your Library are off, you can't really see full frame, In my case, I'm editing 4k footage on 1080X1920 timeline, so my source monitor is still horizontal, so I can't really see all the footage like I normally would.
is there a way to do this if you're editing vertical as well as horizontal videos in one timeline without having to manually select which ones are vertical and need to be transformed?
but then when u send clips to after effects they are always interpreted as horizontal footage. i feel like this rotation should be done before the footage is even imported into premiere
Thank you sooo much... subbed!!! Is there a way to rotate the clip in source window though ? I have to drag it to timeline while reviewing the footages in bin
the only problem with your solution is that the source monitor gets the video cropped. and that ruins theediting workflow of selecting from the source monitor.
if u notice, once you add the effect on the first video, the video shows up vertical on a horizontal source monitor. premier is a pro video software that lacks basic features it sucks
Save hours yeah... That aged like fine milk. You know there is just a rotation bar on most software. You drag it and stop finnish, or there is a fast choice by clicking a rotate icon until you are right, finnish.. All these steps and writing involved to just rotate a file is just ADDING 10x of job and time to do a simple thing. This is sign of a non intuitive software if anything. Annoying and crappy when you want something done in a hurry. I have this program as a part of a plan, but I discovered so many softwares are doing the job much more professional and fast and automatic, so that plan is going down the drain.

omg thank you very very much. you saved me a lot of nerves
This is way more helpful, thanks!
ABSOLUTE LEGEND!
Love that the video is a year old and I googled how to do this and it was your beautiful mug that popped up. Thanks brotha!

After googling for so long this is exactly what I needed. Thank you! I knew there had to be a simple way

Exactly what I'm trying to figure out. It's a cropped view in source view, I can't actually see the clip I want to edit properly, really annoying.

@@taidghrichards4329 and this can be done without taking away from the quality? I'm on Windows, so wondering if it's possible like mac
@@reelvizualmedia Yep pretty sure the functionality is within windows and no it doesn't degrade the quality at all.
@@taidghrichards4329 I'll give this a shot at home. How exactly are you rotating them left once they're all selected?

Life saver! (I actually added some lumetri color correction too on project window, amazing)
Thank you for this super useful tip!! You've saved me so much time!!! I've been manually doing it for so long thinking there must be an easier way to do this, but never got round to looking cause I'm lazy haha! Why did I not search for your video sooner! Thank you!
Wow!! This is perfect! I've been trying to figure this out for so long and ended up rotating manually! This is a total game changer!
I’m glad it helped!! Thanks for watching
So many hours saved, now I can watch hours of Jordan Pulmano content 😘
Hours of the same desk content! 🙌 I appreciate it dudeeee
Absolutely great trick! Right to the point, no time wasted... Great vid!
Thanks a lot
Thank you from a fellow digital content creator from west coast canada!
Source Effects are literally a game changer for batch corrections across footage on Premiere 😮💨
Why most of camera to day still can't shoot vertical when Phone can ? Only sony zv-e10 can shoot vertical (in my experience)
Omg, I feel so stupid!! I've used 2-3 hours rotating clips in Resolve... when I could just have highlighted all the clips.. Damn haha, but thank you so much!!! this is sooooo useful

Thanks so much for *to the point tip*
Great tip! When I used to shoot on Canon, this would have saved me so much time 😅 Thank god for Sony auto rotating!
OMY GOSH you are my savior
This just saved me so much time. thank you so much!!!!
Exactly what I was looking for and more!
Amazing, thank you for saving me tons of time!!!

THANK YOU!!
OMG this saves so much time, thank you
And Jordan comes in clutch again
Aye glad it helped man!!
You absolute legend! This has saved me so much time
Aye I’m glad it helped! Thanks for watching dude
the only downside of doing it this way is that the top and bottom of the clips are cropped in the project bin and source monitor which sucks to edit
Is there a way to fix that?
ue mi hai salvato la vita. grande pulmano.
awesome! Huge timesaver
thank you so much!!!!
is there a way to do this if you're editing vertical as well as horizontal videos in one timeline without having to manually select which ones are vertical and need to be transformed?
Can you also rotate the preview panel so I don't need to have my clip on the timeline to see its proper orientation?
but then when u send clips to after effects they are always interpreted as horizontal footage. i feel like this rotation should be done before the footage is even imported into premiere
man .. i used to copy on each clip in the timeline. never thought it can do in master bin ..lol silly me.. thanks mate
Great video as always bro!
Thank you so much Wen!! I appreciate you watching 🙌
Super helpful man . thanks for sharing !!!
Thanks for checking out the video dude!
So why doesnt my premiere show the option to slide through the info tab like it only shows media browser and nothing else???
Fantastic time save, thanks for sharing
wow you angel this worked!
Thank you sooo much... subbed!!! Is there a way to rotate the clip in source window though ? I have to drag it to timeline while reviewing the footages in bin
tnx a lot
Great vid thanks!
This is SOOOO helpful!
Glad it was helpful man!! Thanks for watching
Thank you so much.
Glad it helped man!
title say Auto-Rotate but in the end you still apply effect to it although useful tip
