When I first starting diving I thought a fin was just a fin and they where all the same. How wrong I was 😂. I now own 5 sets of fins all different sizes and weights for my different style of diving. I have just bought the Atomic Aquatics fin and really like it, it is a lot less heavier than my other fins i use, I mainly use Apeks Rk3 hd's so I have to add little ankle weights when using the Atomic fins. British divers like myself tend to use heavier commercial/tec fins so having light fins is a bonus sometimes I can power on at greater speeds with the Atomic 👌🏻
Excellent video. Only comment is i really cannot tell from weight if the fin is buoyant. I hope the dive shop owner knows. Some shops have a tank of water in the back ( for various reasons). See if you can check its buoyancy this way. Why does buoyancy matter you ask. TRIM. Is the answer. Plus in dry suites, a negatively buoyant fin may help avoid ankle weights or more expensive gators- air goes to feet in dry suits and affects your trim.
I've been have a hell of a time getting trimmed out recently. I'm wearing XXL jet fins and while I *used* to feel balanced, more recently they've been dragging my feet and legs down. The most confounding part is, my instructor consistently says I'm head heavy, so I'm reluctant to try a lighter fin ...
I own both the force fin and the jet. Love them both. But they are TOTALLY different. Force fin feels like nothing. You only tell you are fast by feeling the water dragging your reg. And it is perfect for travelling. Even lighter than a lot of so call ‘travel fins’. I feel my air consumption better with the force fins too. While the jet fins give you instant control and tons of thrust when kicking. Excellent for the techies. I’ll use the jets for serious/rough dives. And force fins for the fun.
Great Video! I was just wondering if your Extra Force Fins work as well with a frog kick as conventional fin designs. And do you have experience with the Excellerating Force Fin model?
Yes, they do work for frog kick. They feel really weird at first, but there is no doubt the speed is there. My buddies Phil Short and Kev Gurr have used them exclusively for 20+ years or more.
I have tried the forcefin to be honest there is a reason why this company hasnt accelerated as well the fin claims, the sizing chart runs small compared to other manufactuers, plus i found them awkward to swim with in both flutter kicking and frog kicking. Although I do see why the United States Navy Seals use them, if you need to get in and out water fast there great, other than that I wouldnt bother. I'll just stick to my Hollis F1 fins.

Maybe you can borrow a pair from a friend or dive shop to try them out? I find the Jet Fins awfully heavy for me.

Makes sense!
Hi Phil, I’m commercial diver, I use Bob’s fins many many years ago. Also use them out of my job. :):)
Love & health from Spain
Please let me know if you can use hollis f1 lt, f2, scubapro fins, apeks rk3, power plana, scubapro go sport or go travel without boots.

Test them in a club. Then, only after, you buy the one you prefer.

The only fins that deserve the name fins are force fins!
scubapro jets
Yeah, those are good fins but too heavy for me... I don't like dragging feet.
