I also picked up a fake in this style. The front logo medallion looked legit with stitching but I realized the medallion logo wasn't even stitched on but was glued on. I ended up pulling off all the Dooney markings and painting the bag in a unique way and sold it locally.
I did something similar when I bought what was supposed to be a vintage Coach backpack from the 90's on Mercari. First I notified Mercari and the seller, then I pulled off the identifiers and let my daughter paint it and use as a purse.
I was wrong. There is a number on the back of the tag on my Dooney. It looks sewn in but does lift up and the number is there on the other side. Someone here suggested the design diva authentication group on Facebook and found out where the number is. Thank all. You are so great to share all these wonderful resources.
When I accidentally source a fake, I remove/destroy any of the faux “branding” and re-donate the bag or let my daughter use it for dress up. It’s been my experience that thrift stores don’t give a hoot if something is fake.
Oh, I recently grabbed a fake D&B too! It was from the bins, and really dingy. I’m actually using it as an “experiment” on cleaning a dingy fabric bag before I delve into the tote of nice stuff that needs to be cleaned. If i ruin the fake one trying to learn the cleaning techniques, oh well!!! Better that than the Kate Spade!
I like Cathy Schonberger's comment. I've taken the handles off fakes to use on my bags made of upcycled items. Sad that fakes with useful parts would be destroyed.
I'm so sorry that you got scammed You're such a nice person and to come online and to let people know what to look out for you are very much appreciated. Everything someone does comes back to them.
I'm a "huge tree hugger", that being said, with my fakes I've accidentally purchased, I redesign or refashioned what I could and had a cobbler do the rest. I give to people for gifts!! They love them!
Aww, there are so many fake Dooney's out there! I have purchased a few myself. I find that Buy, sell, trade stores sell them often. I actually made a video comparing fakes and authentic bags. 🤗
I had the opposite just happen to me. I sold a Ralph Lauren plus size windbreaker to a lady and she wanted to return it because it was fake. It wasn't. Do people make fake Ralph Lauren? I mean this sold for $39. It had the Ralph Lauren tags, Ralph Lauren on the zippers, and the Ralph Lauren seal embroidered on the chest. The lady said she knew it was fake because of the fit ( the real reason I suspect she wants to return it because it doesn't fit) and that it was only $6. Yes, I paid $6 at a thrift store and that price was written on the back of the size tag. I try to remember to mark the price I paid out or remove it if possible but I missed this one. She also said it was brand new and she thought she was purchasing a used jacket. What?! So I guess she was admitting it was like new which it was. Anyway, it's stuff like this that irritates me to the point of wanting to not even do resale. I'm still waiting for Poshmark to decide the case.
Oh dang what a wild ride! That's so crazy especially because Ralph Lauren isn't even that expensive if found at Marshalls. I hope they decide in your favour!
I just bought my first Dooney all-weather leather satchel bag today at my local thrift store! I didn’t know this brand before I found my bag, but I’ve been scouring the internet off since I’ve found out about this niche community!
What if you did some one-of-a-kind modifications to the bag yourself? Pull the stitching on the front medallion to remove and remove as much evidence of D&B as you can (helpful in this case that it isn't printed all over the bag!). Then add some embellishments of your own. Tags, patches, etc. Maybe artfully write "So NOT Real" on the very bottom of the bag. Have fun with it! Then you can sell it as a 'Common Tags' original. 😊
I, too had similar experienced on picking name brand purse. I picked one Dunn Hill at a Thrift store in Ventura County. Upon further research and inspections; I came into conclusions that it was a counterfeited item. Bummer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experienced. 👍
personally I think a fake bag sounds like a good start for repaint project. like, I'm not going to take a bottle of angeleus (shoe/leather paint) and paint a new weird color scheme on a real designer purse somebody could use to get a job, but a fake bag???? welcome to the ~Color Zone~ and then instead of being a fake designer purse, now it's an original hand-painted purse by me.
If its a good bag in good condition I'd use it or give to family telling them its fake. Or donate to women's shelter because they need reliable, good handbags and don't care about the brand.
Take the duck off with a seam ripper and redonate....then its just a leather purse....same with others....take the large logo off.....it may not be a perfect purse...but it will be an honest one...great info....then the thredUP ones you just got are authentic?
I bought a fake Dooney & Bourke at a yard sale when I first started reselling. She assured me it was real, it was similar to yours. When I got home a looked it over I realized it was fake. The hardware was cheap and the only real leather was the duck emblem. I only paid $8.00 and there was a $5.00 bill in the pocket, so I was only out $3.00. Lesson learned.
Use it as a planter line with a gallon size zip lock baggie then put a house plant in it and hang it by the strap out on your porch or balcony, or set it on a patio table as a fun conversation piece. I found fake Coach and Rooney at my Goodwill and told the manager but she acted like I was trying to get a discount instead of being helpful.
Ugh! Couple Months ago I didn’t know I bought a Dooney & Bourke handbag just like the one you showed, it was green. Bought it from Salvation Army in Arizona, the bag was behind the counter, marked 24.99 and marked down to 14.99. I also believed the bag was made before the Dooney & Bourke code tag. Couple days later, I did some research on D&B bags, the hardware, zipper, medallion and things didn’t match up. ThankU for sharing your experience on fake bags and how to spot’em. I’m from Alaska, was visiting Arizona for a time.
Courtney, first you are wearing that beautiful Scully shirt and it looks fabulous on you, glad you kept it. Perfect with your coloring. Thanks for the lesson on fake bags. I bought a vintage Coach at a funny outlet thrift store that I love, it’s a heavy, simple bag. Someone else had picked it up and decided against purchasing it, found it in the hard goods area of the store. I haven’t tried to authenticate it yet but I will definitely go that route just in case I ever want to sell it.
Man! I bought a fake one too! Just like this. I’ve had it listed for a while and was relooking at it and I don’t know what made me start thinking it was fake but I stated looking it up to find out more. Sure enough! I like you thought a vintage D&B would not be faked! Anyway, thanks for the video!
Thanks for an informative video on a topic that is something that we all need to be aware of in the reselling world. I would contact Dooney and Bourke and explain the situation. Ask them to send you a prepaid mailer so you can send it to them. I would think they would have a real interest in getting all the fakes off the street. Or, if that is too farfetched, ask them what you should do with it. They might tell you to throw it out.
Perhaps you could send the fake to Dooney & Burke, so that they can review it and take steps to make their merchandise harder to fake. Then, DB can discard/destroy.
I'm Gen X and as a teen in the 90s distinctly remember how popular these bags were. There were many fakes floating around. $200 to $300 for a purse back then was a lot of money.
Thanks for sharing I don't agree with destorying a bag just because it's fake. It still works just as good to put your stuff in if someone really needs a purse. Anytime a consumer buys from other places Than original retailer they are at risk it may not authentic but I get your argument
I got a D&B in my thredup handbag rescue box (I just did an unboxing video). Now I feel like I need to get it authenticated! Need to double check the value and google first. EVERYTHING is counterfeited in Honduras, they fake American Eagle. My sister in law tried to convince me that a replica isn't the same thing as an imitation and her 'coach' wallet was worth the $$. I was just like uhhh fake is fake, but its a cute wallet I guess.
I bought the donney and Bourke ostrich skin bag from GW. The serial number starts with a J. It has the red lining. It looks good and I plan on using it myself.
Back in the early 90s it was totally a thing. A friend of a relative had a whole operation involving them going to NYC and buying all of the elements to fake Dooneys.
Thank you for this! I got a second hand one at a vintage store and didn't know if it was legitimate now I can look up the number on the back of the tag! I always get complements wearing my Dooney and Burke though and it probably was worth a lot more new! I would take off the fakes logos/tags with a cobblers help or with a seam ripper then resale it as not Dooney.
I’ve seen other RUclipsrs take a razor to them and just rip the crap out of them.. I have purchased things that are fake a few times, even though I look and look and look at every aspect of it some of them are just really, really good
In the 90's there was a big business in Encinada, MX making and selling Dooney and Burke bags. Cruise ships stopped there and lots were sold. Also a few years later I saw them selling fake bags on the streets in Turino, Italy. Lots of sellers. No attempt to stop then. So yes to the lady who said my mom bought it in Italy, but it still can be a fake.
I was reviewing listings on posh yesterday and a bunch of coach that were made in Korea were on there.Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Coach was ever made in Korea either
my local goodwill had a fake lv handbag locked in their case and they had it marked for $150. I told the girl that let me look at it that it was fake. She put it back into the locked case.
Hiya Courtney I’m so sorry this happened to you! Our Goodwills knowingly sell counterfeits as the real thing. Politely point out why it’s a counterfeit it goes in one ear out the other, put right back out for sale. I don’t understand how they get away with selling them, it’s illegal! My suggestion: write in indelible ink inside the bag “counterfeit” “fake”, donate to a women’s shelter. This way it can’t be resold as “real”. I wouldn’t bother returning, they’ll just pass it off to the next person *unless* you can mark it as a counterfeit so someone else won’t get fooled. Only other option I can think of is to take off all logos, tags, make it into something else. But that’s time consuming & even if you created a great new style, you might not get a good ROI. Good luck & May this never happen again! Have a lovely weekend! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️
The vintage bags were make in Connecticut, USA. I do have real vintage bags, some with the pre Duck hand tag and leather patches. The hardware is brass which polishes to a bright, clean condition. I was very surprised DB and Coach bags would be faked, as they are not that expensive, as are Luxury bags.
I just got a vintage D&B purse. Same color scheme, different style. I’m pretty sure it’s real, cause the lock part is loose and may soon fall off (I’ve already resigned myself to using nail polish or super glue to permanently attach it back on. A few scratches. A couple pen marks. Some edges and corners showing obvious wear. Real leather far as I can tell. I think I got a good deal, even with the conditions.
Commenting bc I just bought a Dooney from the thrift store! It's a more recent one, and I just emailed the company to ask when they started making this style collection of bags (Denison/crocodile print) so I can at least date the bag, bc my first impression was 2000s style and that's why I even looked for a brand, but they're still selling new ones with the same print, just not the shape. I can't find the exact style on the website and I haven't been able to find out what date they released this line of bags. So the jury is still out on mine, but it has a hilarious serial number (with a correct location letter and Made In tag) and looks like a nice purse that I'll get some easy practise with cleaning real leather and polishing metal, so it's not bad for what I paid. To be honest, I will probably keep it because of the serial number. Either that, or sell it for like $6k when I'm ready. Specifically $6666 because that's in the serial number lmao! Demon Dooney!
I have found a few fake Dooneys too .i am more careful now but I will never say I won’t get fooled again ! I think you can keep the fob .and reuse it .
Just now realized one I bought two years ago and was about to try resell is also fake. Same issues. So bummed. Thanks for the video! I would have tried to sell it.
I am very worried about the fake purses myself. I have two all weather Dooneys I found, but I've just been holding them. They feel great, but I have no real idea about high end purses. Just more to learn about! Thanks for another video with useful info about how you are figuring things out.
I'm always hesitant to buy second-hand handbags, but I recently picked up a few for possible resale. Who makes fake Dooneys? Crazy? Thanks for sharing!
Yes. I have fakes purchased at estate sales. They are sitting in the closet. My Dooney & Bourke does not have a number. It is real as it is mine and purchased new years ago at a Marshall's. So vintage Dooney doesn't has a number. The counterfeiters make Coach bags. I, like you, was shocked because it is such an affordable bag.
Last week I bought a fake Cole Haan. I looked it up in the tore and it looked like they had similar ones on Posh. I found it in the bra bin. I was excited but when I started to photograph it, I couldn't find a tag inside the bag. Googled for more info and 1st thing that popped out was Cole Hazan emboss their name inside the handles. Guess what the handle didn't have embossed, lol I like you did not think someone would fake a Cole Haan bag. I don't know what to do with it either. Maybe one day I will make a video about it :)
Dooney and Burke from the 90's was highly replicated. Especially old coach before the original family sold the company. Old coach bags were of such amazing quality with all really thick beautiful leather. Rip off bags were sold out of the back of cars in Los Angeles and other big cities back in the day. Kate Spade also.
My authenticity patch was actually removed - I’ve got a real bag but that really bugs me. I think they’re using the authenticity patches to make fake bags.
I know this is 3 years old but I wanted to tell you that I read that sometimes they cut them out if there's a small defect and sell them at outlet malls.
Probably the best way to tell a fake Dooney is the duck emblem is usually glued on instead of sewn on bolted on like the real ones. Also the hardware is usually not that shiny gold, but brass. Here in Atlanta the thrift stores are aware that they sell fakes. Usually the fake ones are priced low and the real ones are priced higher. Sorry that u bought a knock off, it happens.
In the same boat! I made an accidental purchase of fake Loubitons. Apparently real ones DO NOT come with an authentication card. I can't even bring myself to redonate them. They sit in my shoe basket at the front door!
I accidentally bought that same purse. I have sold vintage Dooney & Bourne bags in the past. I just saw it at a thrift store and grabbed it. Like you,I never thought that a vintage bag would be faked. Not sure what I am going to do with it.
I own several authentic Coach and D&Bs which are so old that they don't have tags. I treat them as my most precious treasures. 😂 As for Longchamp, even the reverse indentation about the horse is a quick give away. The fakes are getting better and better. Super sneaky - the serial numbers of the translucent plastic tag are are off - don't match the style. Crazy elaborate. 😈🤬
Hi Courtney, this was a very interesting video and so informative. I'm so sorry that you found that bag but you managed to sleuth out that it was counterfeit and I can really appreciate that excellent research! Maybe you could remove all the identifiers on the bags that you have and sell them without logos, etc if they are still nice bags? Just an idea or maybe use them for storing things in your home? Thanks for your awesome honest approach to reselling. You are a real gem with a wonderful fun personality and great outlook on life! Cheers to you! Pat
I have mistakenly purchased fakes before. Typically the place of purchase takes them back an destroys them. I also remind the seller it is illegal to sell fake bags. Goodwill will definitely take then back and they have now begun authenticating them before placing for sell. If you can't return the fake the only thing to do is burn it or great suggestion by Cathy Schonberger and Veronica Thompson. Great way to recoup some money on it.
Someone recently gave a coach bag to sell. She said her mom it when she was just out of college with her first paycheck and it was real. I trusted her and listed it on posh. A buyer asked to see the ykk zipper- I looked and it had a cheap zipper pull. I took it down immediately. I too now have @ fake coach bag sitting around the house. Not sure what to do with it.
I purchased a fake black coach bag earlier this year. It was being sold for $100 (but it was 50% off day) so of course I was thinking it was real. Luckily it was at Savers and they accept returns. Everything I was finding online made it seem real but I did use real authentication.com and they determined it was fake. I no longer bother looking in the glass case anymore because I don’t know what to look for.
I’d re-craft it by taking it apart ... maybe using the handles for another purse, replacing the zipper on a broken item or using the leather to make a wallet or change purse, obviously trashing the logo.
Viewers have some great ideas Courtney. I've given fakes away to teens. I've also purchased a fake LV for $400 from someone off of Craigslist (about 8 years ago). Still upsets me to this day. What a rookie mistake. Selling fakes as authentic is what really burns me. I guess I'm more ok with fakes that are identified and donated/passed along to people, but I see the moral dilemma for sure. xo Great video.
Ahhh!! I made this mistake once with THE SAME BAG!! 😂🤣 I was so excited to find it I didn't even check it and I was in a hurry so was rushing out the door. When I got home I realized just when picking it up that it was a fake! 🤨😣 I was upset but I got it at Salvation Army so I just considered the money I paid for it to be a donation and I really like that organization so it was "ok". But I def paid to learn a lesson that day.
The goodwill by my moms will knowingly sell fakes. I told them a couch was fake it was a terrible fake and they still sold it to someone for $50. The manager said she believed it authentic when it was spelled wrong on the key fob.
What if you remove the brand logos and donate it. If they don’t say the brand name they can still be used as a purse or tote and someone just looking for a purse can buy it.
Thanks for being super transparent Courtney! It's refreshing to see someone who is open and honest with stuff like this. It's not just smaller resellers that run into this, it can happen to any of us. recently in my local salvation army they had a real vintage dooney very similar to yours, and a fake one in the same style but different color. The fake one had a much higher price tag since it was in better shape/less used. I was shocked to see two bags side by side in the thrift that were so similiar with only small indicators that one was real vs fake. I found a LV bag at my local thrift as well. I was so stoked to find it but upon closer examination it was all glued together and definitely not authentic. I let the manager know and she simply told me to mind my business and if I wasn't purchasing it, to just put it back on the shelf. Oh well. I should carry a pen so I can write FAKE on tags lol
Just came across your video. Wow I’m a new reseller and I purchased a fake Dooney wallet and fake UGGs from my local consignment shop. Smh I was so upset.
Some of them are super hard to tell if they are fake or not for sure! Sucks this one was not real its cute. Just for knowledge I know vintage D&B can be assembled in other countries like Costa Rica and I think could be circa early 90's. I found a Medium Essex Bag in a thrift for $10. It was also unlined but it had pockets made of leather, the correct tag, a serial number and an Assembled in Costa Rica tag. Also all the hardware had had dooney & bourke stamped on it and on all the rivets on the inside of the purse and the duck on the front was the correct duck. :)
I have found a fake coach, which is odd because I know coach, and a fake Gucci burned them both. Found a pair of fake Nike which was a first burned those too. Certainly would not re donate or give away. I also found 3 pair of men’s diesel jeans. Ended up fake and they were burned too. That’s my take on it. burn pail
i accidentally bought a navitimer watch that was supposed to be worth 1000+ dollars. After doing further research I found out that it was a fake.. I ended up giving to my dad for his birthday.. He knew it was fake and still loves it!
I recently bought what I'm pretty sure is a fake Kate Spade. Mostly bc I can tell it's not leather and the lining is very plain. Luckily it was very cheap and I still like it for small trips, concerts, etc...it's not THAT bad but I'd never seen such a good fake of Kate Spade. I bought it on Mercari. So I wasn't able to feel it.
I bought a fake vintage Dooney on eBay and disputed it. I got a refund, but the seller didn't want it back. It is sitting in a bedroom and I keep it only to use as a comparison to authentic bags. I would never knowingly resell or donate a fake bag, because I don't believe they should just be recirculating. I recently got bamboozled on a vintage Coach, and a kind Posher pointed out that the creed was weird. I had never noticed it before. I took down tbe listing and threw it in the garbage. Hopefully, it is biodegradable.
After watching your videos Courtney I realize most of your resells are clothing. You did put up some hard-goods at that garage sale. Someone who also shops at Goodwill and the bins is "Crazy Lamp Lady" but she sells mostly hard -goods, except for the purses. You might like to check out her channel. She posts videos of her finds like you do. You might put her experience to work
Courtney listed Crazy Lamp Lady as one of her favorite folks to watch in a video a while ago. I just love her too. Great suggestion, Richard. Crazy Lamp Lady is the reason I bought some salt and peppers recently to resell...now I just have to get started on ebay! *grin*
Yep, big fan of hers. Also, I don’t share all things I source/sell on my videos. Often times I don’t pick up enough in one trip to share them or they just are forgotten. I love hard goods, but they don’t always make it here 😊👍
I actually use the fakes to repair other bags. The leather and findings can be useful!
My mom bought one LYXBAG and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
I just bought a fake Coach Purse. I am going to use it. If anyone asks, I will say it is fake. It is a cute purse.
Gail Brooks Let’s be real now I don’t think someone would call u out for using a fake bag
fake purses are known to have lead and dangerous chemicals its never a good idea
I was wrong. There is a number on the back of the tag on my Dooney. It looks sewn in but does lift up and the number is there on the other side. Someone here suggested the design diva authentication group on Facebook and found out where the number is. Thank all. You are so great to share all these wonderful resources.
Write Fake in large letters on the inside of the bag in ink that won't wash out and redonate it!
Dont write ON the bag!! Who wants an item with writing in it,like that? :-( fake, or not.
Yup. But that thrift store will sure charge an arm and a leg for a knock-off bag! No good!!
I like Cathy Schonberger's comment. I've taken the handles off fakes to use on my bags made of upcycled items. Sad that fakes with useful parts would be destroyed.
Use it as storage in your bathroom or closet, kitchen. Put things in it that you need but only rarely. Love your channels!
I would use it for girl's dress up time. My friends Mom had a box full of dresses, shoes and handbags that we could use for dress-up. Great memories.
I'm so sorry that you got scammed You're such a nice person and to come online and to let people know what to look out for you are very much appreciated. Everything someone does comes back to them.
I found a Dooney the other day. It had the registration card and seller stamp slip inside the bag.
I'm a "huge tree hugger", that being said, with my fakes I've accidentally purchased, I redesign or refashioned what I could and had a cobbler do the rest. I give to people for gifts!! They love them!
Yes! Dooney & Bourke isn’t cheap! They have been making fake Dooney’s forever.
Aww, there are so many fake Dooney's out there! I have purchased a few myself. I find that Buy, sell, trade stores sell them often. I actually made a video comparing fakes and authentic bags. 🤗

Erin Omundson wow! That is such a good idea. 👍
Interesting idea 👍😊
My mom bought one LYXBAGS and she loves it. It had been there for over 10 years when she went out with it.
I, too had similar experienced on picking name brand purse. I picked one Dunn Hill at a Thrift store in Ventura County. Upon further research and inspections; I came into conclusions that it was a counterfeited item. Bummer. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experienced. 👍
That’s a d*** good replica looks real and I love me some vintage Dooney on my 5th bag and I got all of them from Poshmark!!
personally I think a fake bag sounds like a good start for repaint project.
like, I'm not going to take a bottle of angeleus (shoe/leather paint) and paint a new weird color scheme on a real designer purse somebody could use to get a job, but a fake bag????
welcome to the ~Color Zone~
and then instead of being a fake designer purse, now it's an original hand-painted purse by me.

On my first haul I picked up a fake Coach. I've learned so much since then!
Ugh! Couple
Months ago I didn’t know I bought a Dooney & Bourke handbag just like the one you showed, it was green.
Bought it from Salvation Army in Arizona, the bag was behind the counter, marked 24.99 and marked down to 14.99.

The leather medallion didn’t look beautifully embossed or sewed on. …the medallion was glued on, so I riped it off.
I then shared it on shorts on RUclips.
ThankU for sharing your experience on fake bags and how to spot’em.
I’m from Alaska, was visiting Arizona for a time.
I purchased one myself, it's now decoration in my closet.

Thanks for sharing
I don't agree with destorying a bag just because it's fake. It still works just as good to put your stuff in if someone really needs a purse.
Anytime a consumer buys from other places Than original retailer they are at risk it may not authentic but I get your argument
Donate to a woman's shelter!! Someone will love it! ❤️
Thank you for this, Courtney! Great info!
Good video...fakes have been out on D&B for over 30 years...I understand your frustration
I just bought a vintage one abs it has that blue and red tag . I red that you can also register your purse using those serial numbers
Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️
I just seen a fake chanel bag at my goodwill. Atleast they were selling it for like $5 on the rack and not trying to pass it off as authentic
@@sunbeam3658 - Well thank goodness they weren’t trying to pass off as real!
@@RnR-Rebel yeah, well it didn't say fake but to me it was obvious 😅 hopefully it is to everyone else too
@@sunbeam3658 - Agreed!
That is wild it looks so good!!
I have found two fake Dooney and Burke and one real! I honestly threw them in my dumpster the fakes.
Dude, this is crazy. I didn’t realize that they were selling fake vintage bags on Poshmark!!
I am very worried about the fake purses myself. I have two all weather Dooneys I found, but I've just been holding them. They feel great, but I have no real idea about high end purses. Just more to learn about! Thanks for another video with useful info about how you are figuring things out.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience love🤗❤️
I'm always hesitant to buy second-hand handbags, but I recently picked up a few for possible resale. Who makes fake Dooneys? Crazy? Thanks for sharing!
Yes. I have fakes purchased at estate sales. They are sitting in the closet. My Dooney & Bourke does not have a number. It is real as it is mine and purchased new years ago at a Marshall's. So vintage Dooney doesn't has a number. The counterfeiters make Coach bags. I, like you, was shocked because it is such an affordable bag.
Some Dooney that are Authentic were made without the tag.
Maybe one day I will make a video about it :)
thank you on this video I have a prada i picked up this week i have it posted not selling it til i find the comps
You should watch Slobbys World on Netflix people bring him counterfeit goods sometimes but he redoes them & calls them bootlegs
In the 80s/90s and my mom had severL d&b fakes. They were everywhere
I burn all counterfeit good I have found over the years.
So much effort is put into fakes...guess I'm surprised it's that big of business. Great side niche for you....authentication.
Great information! There are some good ideas in the comment sections. Let us know what you decide to do!
I own several authentic Coach and D&Bs which are so old that they don't have tags. I treat them as my most precious treasures. 😂
As for Longchamp, even the reverse indentation about the horse is a quick give away.
I purchased a fake coach on offer up. I took pictures and showed them why I thought it was fake and I received a refund
Same happened to me when I thought I found a beautiful vintage coach bag also said made in Korea 😞
Yea, lots of lessons to learn in this reselling thing 😂
The goodwill by my moms will knowingly sell fakes. I told them a couch was fake it was a terrible fake and they still sold it to someone for $50. The manager said she believed it authentic when it was spelled wrong on the key fob.
What if you remove the brand logos and donate it. If they don’t say the brand name they can still be used as a purse or tote and someone just looking for a purse can buy it.
Thank you for sharing the information!
It happened to meet too... I didn’t realize until I was home 😭
I also bought a fake MK at Goodwill so what do we do if we can’t return but anymore? Use it?sell it , trash it? What would you do?
Some of them are super hard to tell if they are fake or not for sure! Sucks this one was not real its cute. Just for knowledge I know vintage D&B can be assembled in other countries like Costa Rica and I think could be circa early 90's. I found a Medium Essex Bag in a thrift for $10. It was also unlined but it had pockets made of leather, the correct tag, a serial number and an Assembled in Costa Rica tag. Also all the hardware had had dooney & bourke stamped on it and on all the rivets on the inside of the purse and the duck on the front was the correct duck. :)
This wasn't something I did but I was at the bins one day and someone had painted "FAKE" in huge letters on a fake bag
I totally agree! Fake coach bags and fake Kate Spade bags are the ones that shocked me the most
I recently bought what I'm pretty sure is a fake Kate Spade.
I did find a louis Vuitton small bag with cherrys on it. Cant seem to find one like it on line.
Dooney never uses vinyl so if you find vinyl inside that is a good clue. Truly vintage AWL bags are unlined and many have no pockets.
I love hard goods, but they don’t always make it here 😊👍
I take them apart and use them in my crafting.
I have gotten stuck with a Prada and a Dooney in the recent past They are on the top shelf in my closet. No idea what to do with them .
hi what do you use to clean your vintage dooney”s
Write Fake inside with a sharpie and then keep, give to a friend or family member.
