Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope you enjoy time spent with your family and friends on this fine day. We are so grateful for your continued support over the years helping us live out a dream everyday. Today's video is 🔥🔥🔥 🏹 Enjoy...🦃
Back when I started hunting mule deer and elk out of tree stands (in the early 1970's), nobody (that I knew of) was doing it. Everything was spot and stalk. I figured that if tree stands would work on whitetail deer back east, they should work for mule deer and elk in Utah as well. They did, and I had a high success rate. I started with fixed tree stands (that I built) and then moved to climbing tree stands when they became available. Wallows and ridge saddles were my favorite ambush sites for elk, since they concentrated the traffic to a small area. Wallows were always the best. For mule deer, I would scout a lot before the hunt to figure out their normal travel routes between bedding areas and feeding areas, and set up in areas where a lot of trails came together. Hunting from quakies was always my favorite because they aren't messy like the other trees in the Utah high country. They also provided almost unlimited shooting lanes. However, just because mule deer and elk don't typically look up the way whitetail deer do, doesn't mean that camouflage isn't important. When you are up in a quaking aspen, you have to know that your background (from the animal's perspective) is light colored. If you are wearing a dark pattern camouflage, it is much more likely that they will pick you off when you move. Therefore, if you are going to hunt from up in quakies, choose a light colored camouflage. I always carried a small pruning saw and pruner set (Fiskars) with me, so I could cut off branches that would impede me from climbing higher with my climbing tree stand. That probably isn't as necessary with climbing sticks and saddle stands (which weren't available back then), but I found them invaluable for shooting from quakies.
The smile and fist pump, says it all..what an inspiration you are to not only our youth hunters, but to all of us who have dreams and goals. I can’t describe how awesome it is to follow along with your adventures EC!!!
Well done Eric, you are a shining light to all the up and coming Elk hunters out there. Only thing I will say to you is never leave your pistol behind. I have mostly hunted by myself and one particular hunt I was on the way out after taking a large Rusa stag, when a pack of wild dogs decided they wanted my deer and me. I shot three of them before the others lost heart and ran away, but it was scary none the less. And I know it is not as bad as Black bears and Grizzlies but it was very comforting having my rifle with me. Mate you are one of three people I hold in high esteem mainly because of your skills, humour and mainly your ethics. Keep coming and stay Covid free. Cheers from the land of kangaroos.
This video will probably hold the title for best elk hunting video ever for many years! Good job Eric I watch the ig story like 20 times in aw that day!
I TOTALLY LOVE both videos part 1 & 2. We traveled with you from start to finish with no theatrical music and Hollywood production garbage. Best video out there! Good job!
Very nice, young man! I’m very pleased to see someone (with your skill set and talent), put the time and effort into a superb production like this. Somehow, you make it look so easy, and it is anything but that! I’m a retired (70 yo) fishing guide and charter captain that never figured out how to juggle fishing action with video cameras, so you have my admiration and respect Sir. Best wishes to you and yours in this Holiday season.
Great to finally get to see this hunt E! Congrats again brother, what a awesome solo hunt. Good to have friends when you need help. I was hoping this one had a bonus bear harvest but maybe next time. Learned two important things in this one... 1- how to cape an animal correctly & 2- NEVER LEAVE YOUR PISTOL IN THE TRUCK! Can't wait to see what's next.
This was a well balanced video. Not only did you capture the hunt, but all the work and effort to COMPLETE the hunt. Breaking the animal down, the pack out details, etc. Great job and congrats! Almost had a 2 fer there with the bear. Almost.
Man of all your videos this one is probably the best, for one that is the first tree saddle hunt I've seen on video and second it's an archery elk hunt with a harvest all edited to about thirty minutes. Great video!!👍👍👍🏹🏹🏹
Congratulations, thanks for sharing the whole process! Tough grind getting all that meat out in the heat! Great you had some good friends around! Thanks for taking us along .
Love your sense of adventure and willingness to want to do it on your own, Eric! Also love the fact that you're willing to do things a little outside of the box and your committment once you decide to do it. Always a fun watch!
That was a epic adventure and a hell job for one man to process the meat and take care of himself with a good size bear around for dinner, Well done Eric.
This is probably one of my favorite elk hunts ever caught on film. It's just different from what I am used to watching. My eyes are open to the tree saddle. I also love these solo hunts. That's how I hunt most of the time, and I hunt a lot better when I am by myself.
That was the craziest hunt I’ve seen! Got a dandy bull out of a new spot, and got close up video of a bear trying to take ur meat from u. This was absolutely awesome Eric! Nice work brother
CONGRATULATIONS Eric. !!! There is something very satisfying about a successful solo hunt that will always stand out in your memories of time spent in the field ..
You're 💯 percent correct. Short and sweet. That happened fast. Always nice to have someone around willing too help out, and that bear, too bad your buddy could not get him. He was a little too used too people.
That was AWESOME 💯💯💯 love the solo hunt goal turned reality. Nothing better than when a plan comes together. You handled that bear a lot more chill than I would have 😂 impressive
Third time watching this one, absolutely amazing encounter. You guys inspire me to get out and shoot, and get out and get my hunters license. I want this, i need experience like this in my life.
Atta boy Eric. You never know how it's going to go with bears. Had a sow with cubs at 10 yds. Standing popping her teeth. Nothing between us but a prayer. Didn't move a muscle. She finally woofed and they were gone. Good thing she left. Can't imagine beating her to death with a bow. Didn't use any TP for a week. Really liked the way your set up worked. Gotta try it.
Great job Eric, the solo hunts-time in woods can be so rewarding and tough. Something you’ll be thankful and remember for a long Tine! Good of you to reach out for help when the bear started stacking the odds. Nothing like looking for a stalking bear in thick stuff…
Congratulations Eric on a fine Bull! That was great that you had friends nearby to help with the packout.I have seen quite a bit of your content overs the years.... you are tough enough, actually a beast!
Thanks for sharing you hunt Eric. I love the way you brought it to us and shared tips along the way. So many hunters have know idea how big and elk really is and the work it takes to break one down, even with two people. I was glad to see you realize your physical limitations and call your buddy's. no need risking injury or meat spoilage...Again, Thanks for sharing!!!
Eric is the man 🙌💯🤩 Love watching him become he does things different than a lot of others and he gets it done! Thanks for making these shows for us to enjoy 👍
I have been waiting since the Instagram post to see this one play out, amazing job by yourself getting it done. Congratulations to another successful year.
Super cool video! Really enjoyed everything from the tree stand set up to the kill shot to skinning to elk and even cooler how you had to defend that bear! Keep up the good work Eric!
Congrats Eric on a great bull!!! You are a great person. You worked for it you earned it and deserved it. I enjoyed the start to finish video/editing style. Its ok to admit you aren’t tuff enough. As we get older somethings get harder. Lol.
Nice! When it's hot or buggy I'll take a little container of citric acid powder and mix it with water in a cheapo small spray bottle. Spray it on the meat and it keeps the bugs off and helps make a crust layer on the meat.
Congratulations Eric, great bull on a solid hunt. That's awesome. That bear was an extra you could have done without. Glad you had some help available. Packing a whole elk out by yourself would have been brutal.
Very nice sir! Love watching these hunts and helps us Midwest guys appreciate the hard work that goes into mountain hunting. Keep up the great work and congratulations
Killed it on this video! Loved seeing the whole process start to finish... especially the butchering and the bear encounter. Lots of hard work getting that stud packed out. Awesome bull! Great job!
Congratulations Eric!!! I’m thankful that you had those buddies close by to help you get that elk out. Great job at locating a great spot. Keep up the hard work Eric. Thanks for taking us along. Take care, see ya :)
Just a suggestion. For years I have been packing 4 nylon web light hammocks which work awesome to hang bagged quarters up in a tree out of harms way and lets meat cool. Congrats on your bull.
I quartered and packed out my bull solo last year too. It's definitely not easy took me about 3 and a half hours just to quarter it. Great job Eric, your a killer on the Utah OTC!
This (and episode 1) were super helpful for me. I had no idea you could shimmy up a tree like that without a full blown Midwest style tree stand. Good work, amigo!
I’ve had a few really up close and personal Utah bear experiences skinning out my archery elk, it’s fun to talk about now but it was nerve wracking when it was happening lol. Awesome hunt thanks for sharing
Great bull Eric. It's always a mixture of emotions seeing such a majestic beast on the ground like that. Just an awesome, awesome animal. Happy thanksgiving fellas!
Awesome hunt and footage. Love the solo hunts. Whatever you do, keep filming these hunts and putting out these great videos. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Nice job! What a great bull. Not an easy task to quarter by yourself…. But it’s so satisfying in the end. 😎 I always bring a cheap non fitted bed sheet with my game bags. Makes it really nice to quarter out and not have the meat/bull slide around in the dirt. Nice work Eric, love the video!!
Awesome shot Eric! Its a huge rush when you got bears watching you cut your game up. Had that happen a few times with animals I've got in the past. Good job man, superb solo footage. 😎👍
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope you enjoy time spent with your family and friends on this fine day. We are so grateful for your continued support over the years helping us live out a dream everyday. Today's video is 🔥🔥🔥 🏹

Eric is an elk slayer, it's so impressive how he kills big bulls every year!
Happy for you Eric. Bow hunting salute for an elk harvest from a saddle.
One of best videos y’all have uploaded! Congrats Eric, and thanks for showing everything such as the butchering of the elk and the bear encounter.
"I get by with a little help from my friends." Great series and you captured all the exciting moments on camera...without a camera guy! Well done E.
The smile and fist pump, says it all..what an inspiration you are to not only our youth hunters, but to all of us who have dreams and goals. I can’t describe how awesome it is to follow along with your adventures EC!!!
Congratulations Eric… Solo success is by far the most rewarding. Always enjoy all your guys content . Nice work brother!

Please always stay the way you are, I enjoy your passion, effort, pure and honest man. Stay true to yourself
So awesome to see you take a beautiful bull out of tree saddle , you just dont see that often. Awesome job Eric.
Nothing like having buddies help with a pack out. Thanks for showing the in the field quartering and butchering.
This gotta be one of my favorites, i watch it at least once a year
Great job Eric, I don't think people realize how much work is involved in doing a elk by yourself, it's a freaking job congrats to you.
So sick!! This is bringing back so many memories of my archery elk hunt. Love Eric’s videos. Great filming a editing🤟🏽
Congratulations, thanks for sharing the whole process! Tough grind getting all that meat out in the heat! Great you had some good friends around! Thanks for taking us along .

That was a epic adventure and a hell job for one man to process the meat and take care of himself with a good size bear around for dinner, Well done Eric.
Eric was marinated in elk seasoning for the bear. Lol! Those guys was a huge help. I got tired just watching. Great content!

I read this quote on your "About" tab and subscribed immediately: "Raise Awareness about Conservation and Hunting Access Issues"
That hat clip works out for some great angles of the shot! I know it probably isn't the lightest, but it works.
whoa, nice bull. Those close shots from up in a tree can be the trickiest. Good thing it's a curious & hungry Utah black bear and not a WY grizz!
Congratulations Brother that was an awesome hunt for sure and to get it all on video solo especially the bear footage was awesome!
You are an epic hunter. Thanks for sharing Eric. I was literally thinking about bear safety. Way to stay cool
Eric you are one BAD dude! Great hunt congrats and God bless
Thanks for showing the work part!
Great bull Eric. It's always a mixture of emotions seeing such a majestic beast on the ground like that. Just an awesome, awesome animal. Happy thanksgiving fellas!
