Last time I ran a Bitcoin miner on that PSU it literally caught fire. Turns out I needed a voltage regulator and a surge protector, and for good measure cable extenders. This was because my house has old wiring though - not really a problem with the PSU itself, but certainly contradicts the assertion that it is OK without any kind of protection. Thankfully I happened to be there to put out the fire when it broke out, and the fire came out of the PSU rather than the miner, so no permanent damage other than a scorch mark in my house and since it happened so soon after setup I was able to return the power supply to Amazon. Unfortunately, the S9 uses more watts than the 1200 max that my voltage regulator supports so when I upgrade to an S9 my plan is to use a PSU designed for Bitcoin miners (only has cables for one purpose) so it's cheaper and then use a total of 3 power supplies to run each set of 2 miners. I figure that will keep the wattage per power supply low enough as to keep the voltage under control. The alternative would be to under clock. In any case, I am curious: Is the energy draw per 6 pin plug the same throughout the device? Or does the control board use significantly less? Also, is there any way to open it up and visually inspect the heat sinks? On older AntMiners I was able to add additional heat sinks to improve heat dissipation.
Are there power supplies that generate reliable power without the noise? Seems like the noise would be hard to tolerate unless you've got your own room/garage, or private office? Did you ever trip breakers or require an electrician to perform any upgrades?
Hello there thanks for the quick review, anyway are you moving to gpu / mining rig for minning ? did you have some s9i 14THs for now ? and i wanna ask about wallet for investing (not using for trading) i need wallet for keeping my btc . Whats recomen ? Blockchain ? Coindesk ? Offline wallet like trezor , etc , or what ? Thanks anyway
those vga cables...where did you get them, or what brand are they? and are those 8 pin FEMALE to 8(6+2) FEMALE cables? Or is one of those cables a MALE end? if they are different, what side is used for which piece of hardware? Thanks :)
did all the cables needed for setting it up come with it? i'm tranna figure out how to set this thing cause i wanna start mining but first b4 ordering one of them wana make sure i understand what it takes ti set ut up so i don't get stuck after getting the thing in my hands!
What happens if you settle for a 120v 1200 watt setup with the APW3++ for the S9? . . Would it still hash and mine? . . I do not have 220v-240v outlets where I live. 120V is standard here.
Crazy question -- but did you plug your EVGA into a normal 110V home power outlet, or is that outlet serving 220V? Part of the reason I wanted to get the EVGA was to get around having to use 220V...which I currently do not have wired. And, as you know, the PSU that ships with S9 requires at least 205V.
Hi Siddarth Ramesh, to be honest I don't really know the answer to that question, I would assume it's okay based on what I've just been reading but there's got to be some sort of power loss. So there is a chance it's costing you more to run by upscaling, do you have to?
did it work after you plug the Ethernet cable? I bought 2 s9 I did the whole process and it won't turn on any fan or light? could it be internet issue?
How do you have the ducting attached to the back of each of your miners from your other video? Going to have 4 S9's and will be routing heat out the back of them with ducting.
Hi Miner, I am looking to buy an s9 in October. I was just wondering how hot is it running? And how many bitcoins on average do you mine per day with it? I am just starting out in mining. I just bought a s3+ been running for about a month and only have about .005 bitcoins :(...
Hi Normand Bourque, welcome to the Bitcoin mining community! That's a very tough question to answer because of the power cost and a lot of other factors but roughly if you pay $0.10 a kilowatt antminer S7 right now is breaking even and S9 makes you about $6 a day. Watch this video it explains a lot better. ruclips.net/video/OtR6UraFa5M/видео.html
Hi there, i'm from france and first, i want to say thank you for sharing your experience in bitcoin mining ! I'm totally new in the world of bitcoin and it's really exciting i have some questions : 1st : I have to plan to buy one Antminer S9 with a powersupply EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 80+ TITANIUM, like you said, can i use it in french household (220 - 240V) and Type C. 2nd : if i buy the EVGA powersupply , id'ont need to buy the APW3-12-1600-B2 ? 3rd : Honestly, do you think is worth it with one s9 ? and in how many times i can get my ROI with 0.15€ KWH ? Thank you for your videos, and keep it up ! and i'm sorry for my bad english
Hi Sylvain Bouvier and Thank You. I'm hoping we can all learn together! Well welcome to our universe then =) Yes the EVGA T2 will work with 220 - 240V and I would assume it would come with the plug for your country depending on where you bought it but I am not sure. Yes but you need to watch this ruclips.net/video/OtR6UraFa5M/видео.html You're very welcome and please come back and keep us updated on your progress.
hi where did you buy the cap for the motherboard cable? And also, in total there are 10 pcie cables correct? This is what is required for the S9 according to bitmain site.
thank you that was very helpful. I have an antminer l3+ coming in September and purchased the EVGA 1600w P2 power supply. I suspect the setup will be very similar.
Hack: In case you don't have a cap, using a BARE paperclip bent in a U shape, connect the (typically green) wire to any black wire on the 20/24 pin main connecor and it will get signal to power on, then you can plug it in and fire it up.
Hey BitCoinMiner, I recently got an ant miner s7 and it says residential peer is 10V and the unit uses 16V, and it says it's recommended to run on two deprecate power rails..? Can you tell me what this means and how I do it? Thanks I enjoy your videos
Hi Venture Foro and Thx. Tt's technical info for what power supply you might need to buy but the only power supplies that I know of that work are the EVGA 1600 the one that antminer makes themselves and some higher-end server power supplies.
Hey I've been looking at a s9 but they are sold out on the bitmain page and was looking at bitmain alliance but they seem a bit sketchy with reviews saying they got burned. I know they have the L3+ on bitmain shipping out DEC and I could get that but at $200 less in price I would get around $100 less profit each day with the L3+ instead of the s9
Hey ! So if I see right, using a psu like this to power an asic we need to put the mobo cable on the psu, but there's nothing to do with it ? No bridge or something ?
quick stupid question: WHY? The price of it so huge that it will take about 3 months to get your money back WITHOUT counting the power bill. In top of that it will produce less and less money with each 1 or 2 months. By the time s12 or what ever will be out you will have a really small profit if at all
The power supply "EVGA 1600" has three different series: G2, P2, and T2. can someone tell me the difference between these? Could we use any of these power supplies or we are restricted to T2 only?
Hi Saleem Wadood, you can use any one of them that you want. the difference is the efficiency at which it convert AC to DC. If I remember correctly the T2 pays for itself in about 2 to 3 years over G2 in lost power.
hello! dude im in venezuela and i dont know how can i buy a antminer s9, i already have 2 options, the first one in amazon and the second one in their page (bitmain) but they sell from china. if u know the best way to buy one, can someone tell me please beacuse im a beginner in this theme and also a final question, is this miner profitable beacuse the electricity in this country is really cheap
i need someones help please!! just received my antminer S9.... its up and running and hashing ALTHOUGH one of my boards... is showing idle hash rate but not actually hashing.... it has less 0000s then other two boards and the unit as a whole is not hashing at the full 13.5 that machine is supposed to. also im only show chip 2 temps and not chip 1 temps. please please help
Hi mike firlingo, sorry to hear you're having trouble. Considering it's brand-new a couple of things come to mind, are you sure you hooked up the power correctly? I have seen loose connections on them before sometimes you have to make sure everything is well connected. Did you give it a jingle before you started it up and make sure there was no loose heat sinks? Unfortunately you may just have a bad bored and you may need to contact bitmain.
Hello ! Thanks for uploading videos i really enjoy your channel ! i have question : can i use P2 Model of this power supply instead of T2 ? also is this good PSU for 24/7 Operation ? Thanks
Hi Ben Blute, no there's two separate items here one being the antminer S9 and the other being the power supply but yes all of what you see here does come with those two sets.
hey man awesome video thanks for sharing. im looking to get into bitcoin mining but im totally new to cryptocurrency. ive done alot of research of they past week and i was wondering what kind of income is the s9 bringing in a month? and is it worth having just one s9 running in my house?
Hi jimmy hodnett, Thx! Sure it's worth just running one especially if you think long-term. They said 1 Bitcoin could be $20,000 in the next 10 year. Right now but it's constantly changing one s9 can generate just under Bitcoin a month but to be more accurate check this video out (ruclips.net/video/OtR6UraFa5M/видео.html) and use the calculator.
I live in the United States. Does anyone know what power supply I should use for my new Antminer S9 for electricity from my house. Do I need to get a 220 outlet?>
Just to add, there is no "correct" cable plugging order. Ive buily many custom PC's and I know that a power supply does what the name entails: supplies power. Doesn't matter how you plug.
Hi Wesley Ngcece, about $12 a day but that's actually a very complicated question for a more precise answer watch this video, ruclips.net/video/OtR6UraFa5M/видео.html .
Wow, Wow, that was literally all that was covered, no setup detail, just the obvious . Put this thingy in the obvious female thingy. Remarkable. lets give this 60,000 views
UFSRT lol I wish I saw this a half year earlier it didn’t feel like this video was for us.. just to get discount on products from the front office mayb they got their video !!! Not scammed btw good guy
But with an S9 you could get more coins per day than on a normal pc, or what do you say ?, I have several AntMiner S1, I wanted to use them to mine this coin but I have not found the way to make them work
bro in my country i can mine and not pay the electricity, but im an total beginner, can u tell me is it worth mining btc or not,i want to invest 5000 $ on this businnes, what do you think bro
Hi Lis Beqa, I like the fact that you have free electricity, but Bitcoin is going up so fast right now, I would suggest putting half your money in mining equipment and half in BTC and keep in mind new equipment will be hitting the market here very soon maybe 30 days. Look in to gpu mining too. GL
so u suggest me to wait 30 days and buy antminer like s9 but a newer version, with 3000 $ and with 2000 $ to buy btc s ?, i mean is it worth starting this kind of businnes man ?
Hi Chad Kozlowski, plug in the 24 pin ATX motherboard plug and use the dummy adapter at the end. Most EVGA power supplies come with a dummy plug you may need to order if it does not or you can do the paper trick paperclip.

Thanks for the 10 minutes blurry video of cable connecting.
Hi, did you purchase/order the Antminer s9 directly from Bitmain or did you purchase through another source? How long did it take to arrive?

Such a great video!!!!! Might have been asked before. Does that EVGA come with all the PCI-E cables you used in your video?
did all the cables needed for setting it up come with it? i'm tranna figure out how to set this thing cause i wanna start mining but first b4 ordering one of them wana make sure i understand what it takes ti set ut up so i don't get stuck after getting the thing in my hands!
New to this. Do all the cords come with the s9 or are they seperate?

I do not have 220v-240v outlets where I live. 120V is standard here.
What if the power goes down and back on in the wall outlet, will the miner automatically continue operations or does it require a manual restart?
hi my friend,so right now july 2017 ,this s9 makes 6 bit coins a year???.Thanks for all the info from the first place..

Hi David Carroll, yep the EVGA power supplies can work on 120 or 240 volts.
Is it okay if I use a step-up transformer for the 240V power outlet?
Hi Siddarth Ramesh, to be honest I don't really know the answer to that question, I would assume it's okay based on what I've just been reading but there's got to be some sort of power loss. So there is a chance it's costing you more to run by upscaling, do you have to?
I live in a college dorm room. So, there's no way I can upscale my power sockets
Do you think it's a good idea to have it in a small dorm room? I guess it gets pretty damn loud
does the power supply need to be purchased seperately or does it come with the PSU?
You listed 3 products in the description, is that everything you need to setup an antminer?
did it work after you plug the Ethernet cable? I bought 2 s9 I did the whole process and it won't turn on any fan or light? could it be internet issue?
How do you have the ducting attached to the back of each of your miners from your other video? Going to have 4 S9's and will be routing heat out the back of them with ducting.
Hi XxGamersUnitedxX, I'm lazy actually, I just set them in there or you can use this amzn.to/2m6siLB
What company do you mine with? Is that pool mining?
Is there an europe version(Netherlands)? This power plug doesn’t fit?
Did you connect it to a 110v outlet or 220v?
Hi Miner,
I am looking to buy an s9 in October. I was just wondering how hot is it running? And how many bitcoins on average do you mine per day with it? I am just starting out in mining. I just bought a s3+ been running for about a month and only have about .005 bitcoins :(...

for the time you bought the antminer is what it has crashed ??
Does it work on a 10a 255v outlet ?
Hi, is the EVGA 1600 capable of supplying power to multiple S9's ?
Hi tegan kline, actually no and ask 9 pulled about 1300 Watts.
Hi there, i'm from france and first, i want to say thank you for sharing your experience in bitcoin mining !
I'm totally new in the world of bitcoin and it's really exciting
i have some questions :
1st : I have to plan to buy one Antminer S9 with a powersupply EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 T2 80+ TITANIUM, like you said, can i use it in french household (220 - 240V) and Type C.

Yes the EVGA T2 will work with 220 - 240V and I would assume it would come with the plug for your country depending on where you bought it but I am not sure.
Yes but you need to watch this ruclips.net/video/OtR6UraFa5M/видео.html

single answer with 0.15 Euro KWH you will lose dont do find cheaper place contact me on skype : roamitel
what is the shelf life of S9 antminer, for how many years i can use without any interruption?
hi where did you buy the cap for the motherboard cable? And also, in total there are 10 pcie cables correct? This is what is required for the S9 according to bitmain site.
Hi Kung Young, it comes with the power supply, and there are actually 9 cables but it's all you need to hook up the antminer S9.

How much longer device S9 in the day after the division thanks
Hi! With the EVGA PSU are you able to use a standard outlet?
Hi Taylor Ives, yes that power supply can be plugged into either a 110 or 220 outlet.
If the psu I have for my antminer s9 has a 220 plug, is there any way to convert is safely to an normal 110?
Do all the wires come with it?
Hey I've been looking at a s9 but they are sold out on the bitmain page and was looking at bitmain alliance but they seem a bit sketchy with reviews saying they got burned. Hi Max_Bvr, there's a small adapter that comes with most EVGA 1600 power supplies.
Thanks for you answer !!
We have to plug this on the 24pins so ?

Great vid! Question for the AntMiner D3 which EVGA power supply do you recommend? thx
Hi quativo, Thank you and I would use the 1600w one. amzn.to/28WDEvn

Nice psu .....pricey! Maybe after I mine some bitcoin ...huh ...thx
Hello ! Thanks for uploading videos i really enjoy your channel !
i have question : can i use P2 Model of this power supply instead of T2 ?
also is this good PSU for 24/7 Operation ?
Thanks
Hi Ali P Aioubi , Thank You! EVGA is make the best power supplies and yes you can use the G2 P2 or T2
TheBitcoinMiner Cuanto ganas al mes
How much do you earn per month
hi!!! pls how can i connect the s9 to d internet&pool
can you plug that in on a 110v outlet?
Hi Malav Patel, Yes you can or a 240v
Will the EVGA 1600 PSU
TheBitcoinMiner thanks bro
So WHY does a miner need an SD slot? My L3+ does not have one.
Hi scorpiomaj27 , it doesn't there isn't a sd card reader behind the slot on a S9. I hope this helps and happy mining.
My S9 has HUGE turbulens sound's and loud whistling sound as well when the fan's goes up rpm...
They're little bit louder and they use different fans I've noticed.
hope you don't have fan issues like i did :(

power consumption with that psu?
Does all that stuff come with it?
Hi Ben Blute, no there's two separate items here one being the antminer S9 and the other being the power supply but yes all of what you see here does come with those two sets.
Can you mine scrypt coins with it?
hey man awesome video thanks for sharing. im looking to get into bitcoin mining but im totally new to cryptocurrency. ive done alot of research of they past week and i was wondering what kind of income is the s9 bringing in a month? and is it worth having just one s9 running in my house?

what's the expiration date for antminer s9
where can i buy antminers from?
why would anyone get a different psu than the one Bitmain provides?
I live in the United States. Does anyone know what power supply I should use for my new Antminer S9 for electricity from my house. Do I need to get a 220 outlet?>
Hi joeyloveification, it depends what power supply you bought for it. If its a pc power supply you can use 120 or 240.
dude i suggest you get the EVGA PSU listed above and demo'd in the video by TheBitcoinMiner. that looks like the easiest way.
TheBitcoinMiner might be a stupid question but the power supply you got there is it for pc or no?
Looks a bit like Hermeus mora from the TES series
Just to add, there is no "correct" cable plugging order. Ive buily many custom PC's and I know that a power supply does what the name entails: supplies power. Doesn't matter how you plug.
HI how much does it make per day???
Hi Wesley Ngcece, about $12 a day but that's actually a very complicated question for a more precise answer watch this video, ruclips.net/video/OtR6UraFa5M/видео.html .
So how much $$$ did it make?
Hi mein, probably tens of thousands of dollars over the years.
TheBitcoinMiner Hi. With just 1 S9? Is it worth just purchasing one S9 (electricity prices aside. Will it get the chance to mine anything)?
Where’s part 2?
can you help me setup my s2?
Hi Laid Back Gamers 050, to be quite honest I have never set one of those up buit I can try =)

But with an S9 you could get more coins per day than on a normal pc, or what do you say ?, I have several AntMiner S1, I wanted to use them to mine this coin but I have not found the way to make them work

Would you know where I could investigate how to configure my AntMiner S1 to mine the ethereum currency?

I read in the ethereum forums and say AntMiner is made for SHA256 and ethereum for ether. That both architectures spn miy different.

so u suggest me to wait 30 days and buy antminer like s9 but a newer version, with 3000 $ and with 2000 $ to buy btc s ?, i mean is it worth starting this kind of businnes man ?
i have sent an email to your account man
I hope you got into mining!
spends $3000 on a miner, cant afford a $10 tripod... still the info was good :)
You forgot to mention how to turn the power supply on!!! Lol why does no one mention this?
Hi Chad Kozlowski, plug in the 24 pin ATX motherboard plug and use the dummy adapter at the end. Most EVGA power supplies come with a dummy plug you may need to order if it does not or you can do the paper trick paperclip.
Anyone ever stop to think why bitmain doesn't just use their miners to mine themselves? Just a random thought.
Have a buddy or someone hold your camera.
You charge to talk to you
Can you please connect my wallet with your miner please
90% of the video, plugging into a power supply you should not use! lmao! (get the correct power supply people, surge protectors are cheap!) Move on!
