Lot of work u put in there gettin her clean 🤔 but as a few have already said I've never washed a combine before winter storage but each to their own keep the videos comin ..
Ours gets put away after I've blown it out with the leaf blower, but I don't wash it or make it wet until it comes out next summer... I put two of those sonic rodent deterrent devices in it this time last year and they seemed to have worked - no chewed cables and not even a wiff of mouse - less than £20 each off Amazon - I didn't think they'd actually work but it turns out they did.
You only wash them before they are away to get used, learned the hard way myself after washing a new baler and had to change over a dozen bearings the following year before we used it again, I've heard of some baler and combine fires being started by failed bearings overheating that could possibly have been caused by water damage.
Great video andy, great job cleaning it looks lovely , is she in her winter slumber now? When you greased that chain why wasn't it moving when you set her going or is that something to do with the auger? Do you start her up during the winter?
Cheers Layton Yeah Hunt’s will be out before Xmas to give it a good check over then they come back in the new year to replace any warn/broken parts and a general service, Yeah that big chain runs the augers in the bottom of grain tank and the unloading auger and I don’t have to start it up aslong as the battery is isolated it will hold full charge for the winter 👍
@@Itsafarminglifeforme Thanks for reply Andy hope you had a good week off, that drilling should get some more rain going by tonight's forecast, you best get that spreading done!! Have a good week
Like I said before Andy water gets in places when you wash it in the autumn then sits there over winter rust sets in or even worse it freezes and all hell breaks loose next summer when you fire the old girl up. Just blow it off remove all the auger guards and bait it with a bit of poison jobs a goodun 👍🏼👍🏼👩🌾
It can, you should never hit a bearing or grease cert head on, but just regrease after. Don't hit the computers head on, and the belts can get wet that's fine.
You don't have to take this advice Andy, I was always taught when washing those kind of things to start at the top and work done then all the shit falls to the bottom.
You usually start with a big air compressor and blow out all the big stuff, start by the engine, auger, under the wings, then all of the stuff hidden by the shields, I go behind every piece like that's the only piece so I don't miss anything, then I go back to the top and use foam soap from the cab skip the hopper unless it's sealed, floor by the engine and rinse, then the mechanics under the wings, feeder house to under the cab, chopper, around the wheels and axles, followed by the rest of the exterior, feeder house, rock trap, going around each piece...it's a very tedious job, but when your done it's completely clean and has rotten grain anywhere...oh I also clean out the hopper after operation with an air hose and shop vac. That process takes at least 6 hours on an s or sts, a walker can be done in half
Very nice cleaning job. It gives me the idea that you're proud of your machine and your work.
Nice video. The Harvester looks like amazing. Great work 👍👍👍

That's what I do, prevents water getting in the bearings

It would help if you put on a rainsuit. You would not have to be afraid of getting wet😎 .were you using just cold water ?
Hi classicalmidiorgans
No hot water 👍
Great video keep up the great work
Never washed a combine just used to blow them off with compressor All that water gets in bearings electrics belts 🤔

Do you own the farm and what do you think of the 150 horse power John Deere
Hi eoghans dad
No don’t own the farm just a normal farm worker the 150 is great all the John Deere’s we have are all good tractors 👍
Blow the combine off at end of harvest then wash before harvest. Lying water will just rust everything
Is that a mf65 hidden away in the background .. get it out on a vid Andy!
