Please pick course very carefully and make sure u bring experience with u, even a little experience . He studied a paramedic science, which is mentioned on Critical skilled shortage.
Can I just say that even if you have family in the Uk, your mental health can still be affected. This video is a gem, please share with friends and family hoping to come and study in the Uk. Well done Chidera.x
As an English person ,I watch these videos to learn about African culture ( such a lot of Nigerian posters) and this lady is the most educational, reasonable and sensible one of them all .She says it how it is in the UK. And her explanations and English is good, I have to switch off a lot of them because they are so rambling and unclear . Chidera,I think your good sense and hard work has helped you to succeed in life ,good luck.
Such useful information and I hope many African students see this video before going to study in the UK. I loved the bit about the snow since it reminded me of the first time I flew to the UK from my country Swaziland when I was 17 years old. I had been warned that it snows a lot and very cold in England, so I was on the lookout for snow. When the plane was flying above the clouds at night I could see lots of snow way below us. I was amazed by how much snow there was. It was only after we landed in London that someone explained to me that what I had seen were clouds, not snow. Ah well, we live and learn😂
Honestly, we don't talk enough about the mental health challenges associated with immigration. The only way I keep going is to remind myself of the reasons why I left Nigeria in the first place. It's hell, fam. 😭
These are very useful tips you've shared here Chidera, thanks. I particularly liked that you mentioned about being able to 'network' with your lecturer especially when invited. I understand it can be difficult especially for a decent young girl, but one really needs to find that 'sensible' balance. Trust me the biggest of deals and connections are made in those unconventional social settings and networking events!
Chidera, good job. Keep it up. You mentioned that you have secured a job. Congratulations 🎉. So happy for you. I told you last week to hang in there. You are awesome and truly deserves all the blessings that is coming your way. This is just the beginning. The best is yet to come. May God continue to bless you and your family.
You’re doing a great job…. Well done! For those wishing to travel to the UK for studies, follow her, like her videos and make your concerns known, Chidera knows a lot about the system…
Another great video from you Chidera, the Mental Health aspect you addressed hit close to home for me! Being a first generation Nigerian who also came here with no immediate or extended family around me and also having a highly introverted personality with great difficulty meeting or connecting with new people; even though my outer demeanour generally betrays this; I had to find this out for myself the hardway. However 13 years on, living here with a career that I enjoy and access to an invaluable health care system; I have adjusted and also learnt the unequivocal value of putting my MH first before anything else. Xx

I came to UK for studies, and I never asked for a penny from home. I am not be bothered of food and rent money but it was not easy. Canada better because the system makes it easier for international students to settle and that makes a huge difference.
@@damilareemmanuel Yeah, Honestly people came here and focus on work but as long as you attend classes and do your school work, you are good. Stress of finances is half solved. I paid my second yr fees of over $17k as a student. It wasn't easy for me but it was possible. Today am a PR holder. What matters is return on your investment. Let's be honest we leave Naija with the intention to settle after our studies so as to recover our money and establish ourselves there. I had over 3 UK master's admissions at that time but upon my research, I discovered they stopped issuing post graduate work permit and my friend was already there. The information I got from internets and people helped me make an informed decision. I then decided to pursue Canada education. It wasn't easy as my first visa was delayed but at last ,it worth it.
