      I certainly agree with everyone who praises this video! It's been a god-send to me. I was looking all over for a video that would not just TALK about the various smart-car things it could do but would actually show me up close how they worked and how to work them! So yes, thanks a lot for making this video. It's a one-of-a-kind!

    Thank you for this tutorial. I had no choice but to buy a new car and was really impressed with the space and technology in the Corolla, as my wife had a 2020 that is really nice. Having said that, I spent time trying to learn the features and functions using the manual and couldn’t find items like how to show the compass. Your simple straightforward explanation was easy to follow, more detailed than the manual, and far less complicated! You answered all my questions and can finally help my wife with some settings on her Corolla she didn’t understand.

      Thank you for this tutorial. I had to buy a new car and am really glad I chose the Toyota Corolla SE 2023. It's been 26 years since I bought a new car but I was like the person above, trying to familiarize myself with all the new and (to me) confusing features by reading the manual. I was more confused than ever--and frustrated. Then I found your great tutorial. I've followed it twice, and so appreciate how clear and precise your explanations are. Thank you so much for helping me to start enjoying my car instead of fighting it. Jflores 10/8/23

    I just bought a 2023 Toyota Corolla hatchback and this is the kind of information I wish I had received at the dealership since this was the first car I've purchased in this century. I especially wish the volume knob on the screen would just let me turn the screen off since I prefer direct access controls to menu diving. I just ordered one of these and I was watching this video to see how to turn off the auto stop start. Didn’t see anything about it so I guess it doesn’t have that? Fine by me, I’m not a fan of my engine automatically turning off when I’m about to accelerate hard through a gap. I wonder if Toyota shares the same philosophy of if they were just afraid to show that acronym on their MID like they do with all the other systems 😂

      The car won’t alert you for taking things off the exterior, only when they open the door when it’s locked by breaking in. You’ll want to see what’s available to you for upgraded alarm systems.

    Thanks for your video. I have noticed that Toyota removed the defrost side mirror button. If somebody knows how we can activate that option, please tell me. In addition, my A/C doesn't blow up some fresh air except if I turn climate control on LO and on LO only. It's weird because in our previous Corolla (2017) we had fresh air at 20 degrees Celsius. If I put that temperature right now A/C (when button pressed) blows up some hot air. Do anyone has an explanation ?

    Just as a correction the PDA function isn’t only for cornering. It also adds some auto braking capabilities, for example if someone in front of you slows down it’ll auto brake smoothly to keep a safe distance to the car in front. Also if someone cuts in front of you a little too close the car will auto brake to keep a safe distance. It’s a nice system, the only issue I’ve found is tha sometimes t if a car in front moves to an exit lane and slows down immediately after the PDA will kick in and slow you down as well thinking that the car in front is still in your lane. That’s the he only annoyance I’ve found with that function.

    I've been fairly spooked by the network news channels talking about smart cars braking for no apparent reason. In the case of my new 2023 Corolla Hybrid, I think I've experienced this at least once when my car seemed to brake for no reason. For now I live in a rural area, but I plan to travel to Dallas-Ft.Worth in the spring and I can just picture hurtling down I-35E in Dallas at 70 mph in heavy traffic and having the car erroneously think that it's now time to brake to a full stop because the driver is "incapacitated". I don't recall you discussing that feature on the LE but I may have missed it, since there was a lot of content to absorb. Do you know if they've fixed this yet or not? Apparently it's been a problem with several brands of smart cars in recent times. So I was looking around for any way that I could disable the Emergency Driving Stop System. I think now I can test my car's behavior by turning off the Lane Tracing Assist which you say is the bottom of the two buttons directly to the left of the Cruise Control circle, and/or turn off the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (which I find annoying anyway--I usually just go around the cars in front of me on my own rather than pace them). One question I have, though, is I was driving the car today and I got an indication in the upper part of the MID that I'd never seen before. It looked like a pair of lines representing the lanes I was in and had what looked like an X through the lower half of the indicator. The whole indication was white. I got a little excited because it looked like it was telling me that the lane tracing had been successfully turned off. But when I drove the car later in the day, I was unable to reproduce the indication. Does anyone know anything about this problem or its resolution? With Safety Sense 3.0, which I have, perhaps they have corrected this problem? Does anyone know?

      I wish, but no, not to my knowledge. What may help is turn the heat down to 72-76F and fan speed medium, not high. This has been proven to aid in the engine heating faster. Winter grill blockers help too.

    I’m surprised that the American version of the Corolla LE does mot come standard with heated fabric seats and windshield wiper defrosting. It’s also shocking that this new car has a “DRL OFF” option. Here in Canada all new cars *must* have no means to disengage daytime running lights at any time, by law. It’s great to see that they’ve replaced the gloss piano black surface around the centre cup holders with matte plastic. The gloss black pieces scratch super easy.

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  Год назад

      Much of the US is hot desert or very mild climate so heated seats would be a cost many owners don’t want to pay. For DRL we don’t have such laws.

    • @thejomarifernandez7554
      @thejomarifernandez7554 Год назад

      I don't really need heated fabric seats in my car. I can always buy a cheap one if I need to.

    • @davidgold5961
      @davidgold5961 9 месяцев назад

      NHTSA regulations differ slightly from Canadian law, eh. Also, millions of Americans do not need or want heated seats and electric rear defoggers. It’s been that way since these options were introduced. Hell, even power steering was not a widespread option in the 1960s. The carmakers want customers to have choices based on value for the money. Many buyers don’t want or need options.

    • @brianruperti

      The eco that pops up and goes away is an eco indicator. It’s just a friendly reminder who appears when you are driving economically. It is there as a little cookie to promote economical driving. (Basically going easy on the throttle makes it appear, signifying you’re saving gas)

    • @davidgold5961

      Good question, however electronic parking brakes do not use PAWLS. They simply clamp the rear brake discs with small calipers of their own, and some cars clamp the wheels with the main service brakes. The parking PAWL is only used on cars with actual levers that the driver pulls UP to engage the parking brake.

    I'm a little confused on the parking brake. What's the point of the brake switch if putting into park or taking it out of park automatically engages and disengages it already? Also, if it automatically engages the e-brake when you put the vehicle in park, why doesn't the "brake" symbol light up?

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  11 месяцев назад +1

      First, the lever exists simply for the technicians to be able to disable the system when servicing the brakes, and also for owners to have the choice if they want to use the feature or not.
      Secondly, when the parking brake is engaged, you will see “PARK” in red letters on the dash.
      I hope that helps

There are many great videos on RUclips and a lot of not so great ones where the speaker knows what he or she is doing but seems to expect others to already know a lot of things. But this guy knows his stuff and can present it. Does anyone know if you can mess with these setting without starting the engine? Thanks

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  9 месяцев назад

      Thank you! 🙏🏼 you can change certain setting without starting the engine. Press the push start button 2x (or turn key forward 2 clicks without cranking engine on) without pressing the brake and 75% of the options can be customized. Some of them must have the ignition on and engine running however. Good that helps.
