This was part of who Jim was, part of the reason why he was who he was. You can't separate the genius and pick and choose which parts to accept. This was part of the reason he was who he was and part of his genius and personality and mind. I love him just the way he is.
That's because you didn't have to deal with his bullshit.Jim was a huge fuck up. A great entertainer, yes. Also, a compulsive idiot. That he was actually as intelligent as he was makes his behavior even more ridiculous. If he hadn't have gotten lucky in The Doors, he would probably have been homeless or in jail. Consider where he came from, Jim was a huge disappointment to his father. Like i said, he hit the jackpot in life. And look at what he did with it... Dead in a bathtub at 27. Good job, dummy! I love The Doors, but Jim Morrison was a fucking asshole, and he put poor Ray,Robby, and John through hell.
@Bodomterror696969 How can u say that? Ray Manzarek was Jims BEST FRIEND, and probably one of the few who would tell an honest and accurate opinion of the man. I love Jim too, but if it werent for Ray and their friendship, would Jim have gone on to become the man he was / lead the life he lead?
For an excellent listen...."Rock and Roll Never Forgets: Jim Morrison" Hosted by Mary Turner, from 1982. I recorded it on cassette tape from 106.9 WHCN Hartford,Ct. July 18,1982.
I was at the Clemency Board meeting in Tallahassee Florida on Thursday 12-09-2010, it was quite interesting. Please watch the 3 part video I have put together on Jim Morrisons Pardon. Thank you, Mr. Mojo Risin.
I'M GETTING ON!?......what Jim?.......yeeaaah I ah um Pam?....dam it I have it!....the blue one...what!...hey driver u going? PAM!!!?...step in son...can't she'll see...see what!?....don't know.....mmm could u drive later!??....going west now all aboard....hey no one's behind me,.....step on aside son if you do not wish to board, board now or be gone......man and your driveing Ware we be going!??...WEST SON (west)...hmmm? ...ok suppose it's the best ha??....that's what they say, been there twice.... So far
@thedamned38 - Um... What are you talking about? When did I ever say anything negative against Jim Morrisson because he tried acid (or any other drug for that matter)? Maybe YOU're the one on acid, because you aint' seein' right.
could have just been jim drunk off his ass doing it as a prank. nothing was damaged, i dont see what the harm was. they weren't even stars at this point. the first album was not even realeased yet, they were a small time local band, which makes it even better. jim would have been drunk and crazy whether he was super famous or not.
"i must be insane?.. I'm hallucinating?" are you kidding? he was probably laughing his ass off the clown. let me think. was he more fun as a stoner or a drunk? hmmmmm
right, because what LSD does to you is exactly what it does to everyone...Ray was notorious for embellishing stories so there'll be plenty of dramatic licence in there and yes, he may have been drunk too but drugs do different things to different people, especially when they're illegal drugs and therefore not quality controlled...what you've taken "loads of times", may be very different to what Jim took around 50 years ago
Kevin skipp No, what I said is that LSD and 99% of hallucinogens and drugs overall have an effect on us that is based on our state of mind which can be changed. But the bottom line is that, and you just confirmed what I said, is that Jim did feel it differently, but that was mostly because he was depressed and drank a lot. Basically, he should have meditated. LSD only amplifies ourselves, all our thoughts and emotions. It's bad only if you're bad already. But no one is born weak. So LSD trips can be learned to ride them. And I cannot talk about the "quality" of drugs. That should people themselves worry. But I doubt that Jim used some low quality LSD. Now continuing this story would take me too long but I hope you understood me.... but I guess it's still just my opinion.
"Grabs a fire extinguisher and hoses down the entire studio, fortunately, just the instruments". Ray was the biggest bullshitter alive. He always tried to elaborate his stories as much as possible and it made him look like an idiot.
RIP.RAY! I was LUCKY enough to have Lunch with Ray,In New Haven, ct. I could Listen to Ray for DAYS!!!!!,,, Best Story telller EVER!!!!!
Jack Connors wow you are lucky. He’s one guy I honestly wish I had known. How did that happen?
New haven of all places. Where jim was arrested
So lucky!
Jim going back to the car with only one shoe even in the early days ... The end was always near. He knew what He certainly was writing about. R.I.P.
Manzarek is great in situational comedy. Just him uttering the owner of the studio's name of "Tutti Camarata" is hilarious.
Ray tells these stories with so much joy. RIP
John Lennon had a similar incident (on LSD) with a red light, I believe in a elevator where he thought there was a fire.

a lunatic? you love and idolize a lunatic... you need to love your creator rather than some lunatic.

Ow and BTW Ray looks better than ever.
That is hilarious! It reminds me of a friend I have.
TheseusTitan We all have or had a friend like that.....
Yo Ray. Say hi to Jim for me will ya?
R.I.P dude!!!!
The way I heard it before was that Jim hosed it down from the way they performed The End!
Com on baby put out that fire
Jim was one of the first, and greatest trolls :P
@Bodomterror696969

Classic Jim Morrison, haha. How lucky Ray is to have lived among him and shared these unforgettable moments with him.
For an excellent listen...."Rock and Roll Never Forgets: Jim Morrison" Hosted by Mary Turner, from 1982. I recorded it on cassette tape from 106.9 WHCN Hartford,Ct. July 18,1982.
Well, give Jim credit, he did put out the fire......
i need to meet the remaining doors (ray, robby, john) before the meaning of life comes knocking at their doors

He'd have taken you, drunk or not.
@thedamned38 - Um... What are you talking about? When did I ever say anything negative against Jim Morrisson because he tried acid (or any other drug for that matter)? Maybe YOU're the one on acid, because you aint' seein' right.
Acid was on Jim 😵💫🤪🤡🙃🚀
@dcn8933 - Actually, this little story has made me disrespect him a little.
@4200lizardking LOL! Are you crying? LOL!

wendy pearson alcohol addiction takes some of Our very best ...

LSD does NOT do that.. He must have taken something else as well.... I've taken LSD a lot of times and I only felt amazing... I never lost my mind...
signoguns Yes it is, but it depended on your current mood and your life overall. If you're true to yourself you will never feel bad.
right, because what LSD does to you is exactly what it does to everyone...Ray was notorious for embellishing stories so there'll be plenty of dramatic licence in there and yes, he may have been drunk too but drugs do different things to different people, especially when they're illegal drugs and therefore not quality controlled...what you've taken "loads of times", may be very different to what Jim took around 50 years ago
Brian Griffin Good for you.

You obviously never took enough at a time. Hahaha or someone licked your sheet.

this is supposed to be funny? it isnt...its sick and disturbing.
manzarek is so pretentious.
sküll düggery wtf? How
Ray Manzarek...the least likable of The Doors. He adlibs so much crap all of the elements of the story come into question.
