Jungkook's album is called "Golden". "Seven" was also Jungkooks song and another one called "3D" featuring Jack Harlow. The song with Kid Laroi and Central Cee was called "Too Much".
The last song to hit me this hard was Silk Sonic's Leave the Door Open. Not only is it a great homage to MJ, but it's also honoring Quincy Jones' great production (of course Quincy produced Off the Wall (which this definitely reminds me of), Thriller and Bad for MJ and a ton of other artists). It really is also the moment that Jung Kook became a global pop superstar - sadly he's now in the military and won't be performing till 2025.
71 year old BTS Army here. This track is totally late '70s, early 80's Retro disco funk and was announced as a subtle homage to MJ. This is his third mega hit after "Seven Feat Latto" and "3D Feat Jack Harlow". All are from his album GOLDEN Just so you know, none of JK's solo releases have anything to do with Kpop other than JK is S. Korean. All of JK's solo releases including his just released album "Golden" are all in English. There are no S. Korean songwriters, producers, recording studios or MV shooting directors or locations, etc. He is blowing past Kpop and jumping head first into the American pop market. He is using American Grammy Award winning songwriters, producers, recording in the U.S. and filming at mostly U.S. locations such as Universal Studios in Hollywood. This original MV track, however, is filmed at an abandoned power plant in Budapest, Hungary. The director is a very famous Ukrainian director who has directed for Harry Styles and many others. This Usher remix is filmed in L.A. His self professed dream of being a giant pop star has clearly begun in a big way! BTW, there are now at least 3 live performances. iHeart Radio, Jimmy Fallon Show, The Today Show, and there is a KILLER Official Choreo Version. He recently performed 5 songs at the TSX stage in Times Square, NYC. Only the third artist to ever been invited to perform there besides Post Malone and PDiddy. The Usher Remix Performance Video of this song is ICONIC and a dream come true for JK. JK's solo achievements are the biggest of the BTS group. ALL of BTS members are in the military now for 18 months as of Dec.12 including Jung Kook. JK's solo album "Golden" is over to 2 billion streams now since Nov. 2. FYI, the American team of Grammy winner Andrew Watt and Cirkut wrote and produced this song in Watt's studio in L.A. They also wrote and produced his first mega hit "SEVEN Feat Latto". Thank you for your reaction.
“Too Much” was the song JK did with The Kid Laroi and Central C. “Seven” is his song with Latto. “3D” is his song with Jack Harlow. I think the difference is JK isn’t sharing the song with 6 other members so you get to hear his vocal range on such a difficult song. Thank you for recognising it as pop (retro funk) and recognising the only “K” thing about it is Jungkook. The writers and producers behind this were the same ones for “Seven” (all either Grammy winners and/or nominated). Your MJ vibes are correct and even Usher thought it was a fantastic song because he did a remix of it with him. Check out the mv performance.
This is a 10 out of 10 for me. I like his remix with Usher, but I think I like this original a little more. Yeah, if you were expecting a more traditional K-Pop song, you won’t get it with his first (only to this point) album. He is not fluent in English, but he did the entire album in English. A very brave, bold move that has gotten him a lot of backlash from diehard K-Poppers. I prefer to look on the positive side and see what a huge undertaking that is for someone who speaks limited English. :) If you can, please watch one, some or all 😂 of his lives on this song and album. The best vocals are iHeart radio. It has a live band and is amazing. You can also watch his three iHeart songs in VR. Well worth it. His live performances besides iHeart are Jimmy Fallon, Audacy Radio (performs 4 songs off of his album), surprise Times Square performance (performs 5 songs off of his album, I think), MCountdown and his gift to Army a free Golden Live concert where he performed the entire album plus a couple of other special songs. The concert was the day before the last four remaining members announced they were starting their military enrollment process. JK and Jimin were the last two to go on 12/12/23. RM and V went the day before. FYI- he also did a remix with Justin Timberlake (no mv) of his song 3-D. please add it, the Usher remix and the visualizer to “Hate You” to your list. The visualizer is actually an MV imo and in most other people’s opinions. :) I would love to see you react to the other songs on his album. He experimented with different sounds. It’s a no skip album. So proud of this young man (as you can see since I basically just wrioe a book for a comment 😂💜)
I really do think JK is aiming at becoming a global pop superstar, not just a Kpop star. He'll keep doing his thing with BTS, but his goal is worldwide success. I suspect that unlike Namjoon, who isn't as much a fan of the English language turn BTS took (Dynamite-Butter-Permission To Dance), JK kind of embraced it.
I was in shock too. Great reaction, I loved your face. That part sounds like Michael McDonald's I Keep Forgetting which is the sample in Regulate by Warren G. The way the song is put together reminds me of Heartbreak Hotel by the Jackson 5. Funk suits him so much. The album Golden goes allover the place musically. 😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
In a way, it's not just an homage to Michael, it's also an homage to the great Quincy Jones, who created so much of the late 70s and 80s sound, including producing Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad plus a thousand other and songs for so many memorable artists.)
@jamesrawlins735 I also get some George Clinton, The Brothers Johnson, and of course, Earth, Wind and Fire. And the dance even throws back to Bob Fosse, MJ's inspo. 😘💜
Check out his other songs "Seven" and "3D" with Jack Harlow. There is also a remix of "3D" with Justin Timberlake. Also a remix of this song with Usher. All 🔥.
Love this song, and yes, I recognise the same influences. My favs on Golden are this one, 3d, somebody, closer to you and please don't change. And the iheart radio live performance of Hate you is gorgeous.
Can't wait to see you react to the rest of the album. It is supposed to be listened to in order to go through all of the emotions of the universally known feelings known as "love". Great reaction, missed your BTS and their members reactions 💜
This has a remix with usher and an mv. Master flex to drop this song and than just to go of serve in the Army. Giving people the time to discover him and the rest of BTS while they are absent.. 2025 when they come back will be massive 😎😎💜💜
Great reaction! I think you should watch JK LIVE at his surprise concert in TSX Times Square, New York. He performs his lead single Standing Next to You as well as other songs from his ALL ENGLISH album GOLDEN. All BTS Members are now serving in the mandatory military, South Korea. Plan to reunite in 2025. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜OT7
I hope he does react to that, but I hope even more that he reacts to the iHeart performance. May be the best vocals I’ve ever heard from JK and that’s saying a lot.

Kpop recs: What I Said and Flip a Coin by VICTON and literally *anything and everything* from ATEEZ (Bouncy, Crazy Form, Wonderland, Guerilla, The Leaders, HALA HALA, The Real, Paradigm, Outlaw, Dune, I’m the One, Halazia, Turbulence, DJANGO, etc etc)
You’ve watch jimin’s “set me free”, jhope’s “on the street”, suga’s haegum”. Hope you react to RM’s “ wildflower “, V’s tiny desk Korea (live), Jin’s “The Astronaut” (live with Cold Play).
Please react to the same song iHeart live performance, you'll be amazed that Jk's vocal range is just on another level ! It's just a Masterpiece! Thanks a lot for this reaction :)
Sort of correct. He hasn’t always had it, of course 😊, because he started as a trainee at age 13, but he’s had it several years. He still has to cover it for Korean TV. See his MCountdown performance of this song. He’s wearing a black glove.
This is not kpop. Kpop is an industry not a genre. This song is in English with American producers. Just because jk is korean doesn’t mean is from kpop. Bts his group was put in the kpop category for years but now bts has surpass that industry.
You gotta react to Jimins song Closer than this its a song for Army since there all in the Military right now but they made so much content for us since they left and in 2024 jin and jhope comes out and we will have so much more content to come till 2025.
Jung kook has had a full sleave for many years now along with his hand tattoo but when he's on South Korean TV he has to cover it all up with make up or clothing. Tattoo's are not acceptable to the older generation and is still a big big no no within the Kpop Industry however BTS members do not play by Kpop Industry unspoken rules. All BTS members have at least one tattoo their number 7 which is their friendship tattoo they got for their 10th anniversary. Jung Kook and Jimin have the most tattoo's but when they are on South Korean TV they are supposed to make sure they are covered. However some time's we do get little shots of them on South Korean TV eg music show's if their clothing lifts but outside of that they are quite open about their tattoos. Jimin did something that wasn't really planned once, it was decided last minute so there was no time to apply make to cover his tattoos. He went on stage on south korean TV and ripped his top off and danced like that and of course his tattoo's were very visible.
