Hello Karolina, would you buy a Sony 600mm F4 G Master or 300mm f2.8 with teleconverters ? I could not make clear because of 600mm is 5 years old now. 300mm is only 1 years old. What do you think about choosing the best one ?
Hi! Great question, it depends on your needs for the lens. With the 300mm + an 2x teleconveter, you basically get two lenses, 600mm f5,6 and 300mm 2.8, but for a lot cheaper price and a much smaller, more travel friendly, size. I’ve personally tried the 300mm with teleconveters and it’s work excellently! For my needs personally, this would be my first choice. However, if you’re photographing in an area and subjects that require 600mm a lot more than the areas I operate in, AND you have the budget for the 600mm, I’d say it’s going to serve you well! Hope that helps 😊
Great video! Glad I found your channel. I have the Shimoda V2 Explorer 35L. I haven’t used it yet, but will in December when I go on holiday. Question - as a female solo photographer traveler, how do you keep your passport and wallet, cash, etc safe?
Hi Karolina, nice video, thanks. I am a big Peak Design fan and backed a number of their Kickstarter campaigns including the travel tripod. However, that is the one Peak Design item I cannot recommend. It does fold nice and compact but it is not stable enough particularly with the lowest segment extended. The peculiar cross section shape of the legs may be good for compactness but not for flexural stiffness, which is key to tripod stability. I sold mine (carbon version) about a year ago. Cheers, Urs
Hi! Thanks very much for letting me know highly appreciate the advice. Is there another tripod that small and lightweight for travel that you recommend? :)
I had high hopes in the Benro Theta, but they took a number of wrong decisions at the end of the campaign and I will try to get my Kickstarter pledge refunded. I opted for the Max version. With Theta no longer being a viable choice I look into established brands like Gitzo, RRS, Promedia Gear, perhaps also FLM. Peak Design probably wins the compactness/lightweight competition on all accounts though, if that goes on cost of stability it is not a good compromise for me. That does depend on use case though. The PD will certainly fair better than your current super cheap tripod. Cheers, Urs
