Xerox Alto Restoration Part 3 - disk drive bring up

We got our missing disc interface card, gift from Al Kossow (from his personal collection, not from the Computer History Museum!), so we can turn our attention to bringing up the disc. Carl Claunch is our leader for this phase, as he has restored many of these drives for his IBM 1130 (Diablos are IBM clones really). We are joined by Tim Curley representing the official PARC (the former Xerox Parc), who brings us a nice welcome gift. At the end of the day we got it to load the heads on the disc without damage, and display the famous "Ready" indicator. We feel giddy and attempt a full up test. Will the Alto boot?
