"Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" is inspired by old blues, Nashville psycho hillbillies & hazy memories. It tells the story of finding yourself lost on your path, and a choice has to be made. I think the cherry tree is what you love so much that has you tied to the world. Like when she saw the horse go crazy at the olive tree that reminded her of the cherry tree saying. Also I think it was originally from Scottish folk lore long before Scottish folk.
