Although it's not a natural wonder, I have taken my students to Vikingaheimar and we have enjoyed standing on the deck of the Viking ship replica there. It's just minutes from the airport and on the main road.
My first trip to Iceland I was able to experience some of this. That area is amazing. I want to go back to this area and experience some of the things I missed.
Hi, Janie ! I wanted to reach out to you and express my gratitude for the amazing video you created showcasing the 5 MUST SEE places on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Takk !!
We were lucky enough to see the 2022 volcano 2 days before it stopped erupting. We spent some time in the area you highlighted… except the Blue Lagoon, that was on the list but only if we had time.
We hit all theses places our first day in icleand in February. We were the only people at these spots when we stopped. It was amazing and made us fall in love with iceland instantly. BTW the blue lagoon is not crowded first thing in the morning and yes it's very nice
Just returned from a trip there. I had a whole day to kill before flying out so I hit the peninsula and really enjoyed my day with the easy drive from place to place. Very few people around, cold and very windy. Really loved the lighthouse.
Yay! The Reykjanes is so accessible to travelers because of the airport yet it is often left out of people's itineraries. I'm really happy that you made the decision to keep exploring before your departure - despite the weather! I hope you had the best.trip.ever!
Ok….Seltún!!! Adding that to the list for when I come back….I’d never heard of this place and it’s gorgeous! I’ve studied Iceland for a couple years now and never knew it existed! Thank you Jeannie ❤🎉
Another gem video of a place we hadn't considered. We are using your South + West Guide to put this on our trip itinerary in June. The video and commentary are so helpful! Sounds like we should give Blue Lagoon a closer look, although your suggestions for Sky Lagoon and Vok hot springs spas are already on our itinerary thanks to your guide!
Oh, and if you decide to do Blue Lagoon - book your visit NOW!!! You're traveling during peak season and Blue Lagoon is a must-stop on most tourists' lists. You'll need to book soon before it fills up!
Very helpful video. Definitely will plan to check out all of the areas you have discussed in this video with the exception of the Blue Lagoon. I'd rather use my time exploring. :) Thank you for all the information you provide so that we can plan the best trip ever.
Ok young lady. We love your info as well as your presentation. I feel sorry for other people trying to plan for tourists! They have a hi-bar set for them to try and keep up with you! :) one question. What is this area like in December? What is the accessibility like to the places people would like to take pictures of. Merci, from Canada. Michael
Vok Baths in Egilsstadir (East Iceland) is definitely a unique experience - the hot pots float within the icy cold lake right next to the building! You can do the hot/cold jump between to feel super refreshed! ~ icelandwithaview.com/vok-baths-in-east-iceland-egilsstadir-hot-spring/
During my visit to Iceland in in Mid-June of 2021 I spent most of my time on the Reykjanes ands Snaefellsness Peninsulas. I was able to visit 4 of the 5 places on this list and they were spectacular. Admittedly I was at the Blue Lagoon after hours but had a fantastic dinner at one of the restaurants. Leif's Bridge was awesome! So much to offer. Side note .. I was originally scheduled to leave June 16th but found out Independence Day was the 17th I had to stay. An absolutely delightful day at Hljómskála Park in Reykjavik!
Went there Didn't go (Was not erupting) Went there Went there (Twice... once it was raining and blowing to hard to get out of the car...) Didn't go (Too Touristy!!!!!)
I'm coming out again late Sept (primarily for a photography trip) and decided on this route south of the airport (on the day we arrive) to get to our cabin north of Hella as opposed to taking the highway around Reykjavik. I didn't realise it was so scenic and had attractions like Seltun, which you mention! Thanks to channels like yours I've discovered many amazing off the beaten track locations which I hope we can use as a basis for our shoots (we are bringing a model as well). I only hope we will manage to get to Landmannalaugar before the F roads are closed. 😃
Be sure to check out my South+West Travel Guide (icelandwithaview.com/product/south-west-guidebook/)! I've got loads more sights and gems in the Reykjanes Peninsula for you to photograph!
One of my favorite places on the Reykjanes Peninsula is the northernmost tip, Garðskagi. It's so peaceful and I always had great weather there! :D
We were there a week back .... absolutely a hidden gem .its a must do .

Great field trip and rainy day activity! Thanks for the suggestion!

Reykjanes Peninsula is far underrated! There are so many cool sights so close to one another! I'm so glad you made time to sightsee in this area!
I enjoy your videos very much. Coming mid November
Thanks so much! I hope you have the best trip ever! ❤️

Thanks for watching and supporting my business, Cheryl! You're going to have an amazing trip with or without a trip to Blue Lagoon!

There are actually two different "craters" at the volcano from the two different eruptions - its worth walking further to see the most recent one.

Thanks so much for following along, Sue! Hope you love all these places.
Seltun is closed until June
Thanks for the tip! Yep, Seltun is closed for construction until June 6th, 2023.
👍🍀 Nice Video!

Hi Michael! Check out my video all about December in Iceland - icelandwithaview.com/december/
One word, a secret, off the beaten path: Kálfshamarsvík.
💯 - those basalt formations are magnificent!
Hello !
I considered going to Vok Bath. I know Blue Lagoon is a unique experience, but is Vok Bath likewise ?
