A few years ago I just got home and got out of my car. My neighbor up the street was out walking his German Shepard and they were on their way home, and the dog was not on a leash. Suddenly, the German Shepard charged right at me, and I was a bit worried. However, the dog jumped up and placed his front paws on my shoulders and immediately started licking my face. It was seriously a very touching moment in my life.

@@marcusm5127 no, no its not ive owned big dogs and studdying animal care and canine behaviour, this is not a domination move its a show of trust for people, the dog was exposing its belly (the weak spot) and forcing its tongue into there mouth this shows both affection for people and trust, research next time.

when i was 15. my family and I had a german shepard, and his shedding was atrocius. And now 15-16 years since he passed away. my parents STILL find his hair all over the place.

Guys, I’m sure they clean their house, he probably just finds his hair in every nook and cranny like my dog does. It’s pretty hard not to.
I had a great dane mixed with lab, he passed away 5 years ago and I still find his hair in places

The playfulness is so relatable. It can be so funny but so frustrating when you try to grab something and their ears go back and they do that prance while looking back to see if you're chasing them.

They are NOT retrievers! They will but would much rather play chase.
If my gsd wants to play then he brings me the toy and keep staring and following me until I play with him
"super intelligent" yeah, well, there are reasons why German Shepherds is the most used breed in police K9 units. They're aggresive, intelligent, strong, agile, fast, etc. But their soft side can melt ice-cold hearts. Truly an impressive breed. Need extra activities though, cause they hate doing nothing.
Very well said, they go from a deep intimidating barking "Stay away from my house" to a tail wagging mouth open smiley love dog in seconds flat. A truly amazing breed of dog. I always tell people how much of a softy my big boy is (loves everyone) but I have no doubt he would destroy an intruder.

Everytime I get to see my shepherds intelligence I get overwhelmed by him.
He is cute. I like that his tongue sticks out the side of his mouth when he runs😊

They're better spiritual beings than most human beings.
My German shepherd just passed away this September and he was the greatest thing I’ve ever been blessed with. I miss him everyday. He was truly irreplaceable ❤️
My German Shepherd passed away in September too. I miss him more than words can say. My heart is broken and I still cry for him. Sorry for your loss Rosie.

I've got a German shepherd and he's awsome. He is my boy and I love him so much. There are super smart he lives to play ball and he knows exactly what I'm saying. He's awsome❤
I never thought I would be the mamma to a German Shepherd. Now I can't imagine my life without him. He is literally the best thing that has ever happened to me. I don't even mind him guarding me against the bathroom monster when I use the bathroom lol. Great video and so true! Also being in a snow climate I can add that mine LOVES SNOW!

A breed that likes to keep busy and be active...not a breed for couch potatoes or lonely back yards.
Exactly i keep telling people who say they want one. I dont want to see a GSD get abandoned due to owners not doing the research first. They see a beautiful puppy and all of a sudden they want one.
Mine is a total couch potato, though I do take her for daily runs and games of fetch. She's just weird lmao

Totally agree, she can play outside with water from hose for hours, but if i try to wash her inside a shower, its the most traumatizing thing that can happen to her.

He is just beautiful. I love the bit where he was running with his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. I can’t wait to get a puppy, had 2 shepherds already and words are not enough to describe how wonderful they are

Everything is true - and more!!!!! I’ve had them for many years and they are almost human but, thank God, not quite. Love my Gracie & Niko!!!!
I have a ten year old shepherd mix that Was a rescue I adopted at 7 weeks. He is my heart & soul. I never knew I could have such an amazing bond with this wonderful animal. And he does look into my soul. The loyalty, unconditional love and intelligence he has is beyond words. He survived a bleeding splenic mass 2 years ago and now has 2 large masses in his abdomen and on his liver. He is doing amazingly well. I know his days are numbered and I will miss him terribly. The love we have shared has been worth every minute. ❤️

Yup! All 3 of ours are just the same. Even down to leaving you a water trail to mop up after drinking water.

Oh what a georgeous & lovable German Sheperd dog. They are so loyal & intelligent . They deserve nothing more than lots of love, good food & attention . I have a mixed breed dog & I love her to bits . She is also very intelligent

B K dealing with this one right now haha. Just got a half shepherd half retriever pup last week, shes gonna be 9 weeks old on thursday and EVERYTHING has to go in her mouth
we went for pizza once. we came back and the entire couch was eaten!

I got really really lucky with this one. I think during his teething phase he only destroyed 2 things. The corner of an ottoman, and a Christmas Decoration. After that, he turned to sticks and logs outside!

I miss my boy so much...he past away one year ago at age 4.5...he had cancer...every day facebook remind's me what i posted and every time my dog is near to me in that post....

MU13P5D MU13P5D I had a chihuahua before the one I had now. He was a mix and at 8 yrs got cancer. Everything I’d been told about the breed was wrong. They’re supposed to live 15+ years. Mixed breeds don’t develop genetic disease. My dog did cancer treatment for 9 months and never complained. It took me a year to pay it off. My heart is still broken. It’s a terrible thing to have to decide the day your dog is put down. Just terrible.
@@thanksforanotherbadhaircut1211 I understand, I had spent more on dog surgeries and rehab than I would have ever spent on myself. I've vowed to never do that again but, how can you not.
MPGunther1 I know, I know. My dog went to a vet who specialized in the treatment of cancer in dogs. He never could say what the cause was in the increase of cancer in dogs.
My shepherd was so much like this. I loved him and miss him. great dogs lot of energy, so be prepared if you get one their yours for life

They are the greatest. bred off dogs. When you buy and train one you have a loyal friend for life.

0:30 I taught my Shepard where on the bed not to lie by just lying down right on top of him. After a moment or two of annoyed smothering, he moved. He would budge when he realized I wouldn't, Did this every time he tried. So he stopped sleeping in my spot. He tried being smart and laying down on top of me in return. But I'm 3x his size and weight, so it didn't bother me at all 😂. He gave up and started sleeping next to me like a good doggo. Still a furry 80 pound cuddle bug. He's my alltime favorite puppy!
Not everything can be, or needs to be, taught using words.
We are truely blessed to have such wonderful creatures to call "Man's Best Friend"!

German shepherds are so adorable! We have one home; I can definitely relate, she’s a girl but she hates water. Every time I open the hose she’ll think that I’ll give her a shower, and she runs away.

German shepherds are highly intelligent and are very loyal loving dogs as well as all dogs and pets are.
I raised 6 motherless pups left in my care a year ago from when they were only 25 days old.
It was very hard work lilet having 6 squealing babies to manage..
From their food to exercise to meficines n sponges and all the teething n bites too.😉
WHAT a pleasure it was to watch them grow into healthy fat boisterous pups! Each with their own personality traits.

My German Shepard Husky mix is adorable when he's not at work. But as soon as he puts on that vest he knows he's a pro. He'll snarl at anyone he does not think is an ally unless I command him otherwise in German. Amazing doggos!
Just had to put my belgian shepherd rescue down, had him for 13 years. Loved that guy, he had such a gentle, loving personality like many shepherds. My next one will most likely be another shepherd, very intelligent dogs.
That tongue is a force of nature. Sometime they don’t even know what to do with it. I miss my Shepard so much. Enjoy your GS. You will never be the same again (in a good way) 😉

Thumbs up, you got it! Our Gs was only five weeks old and was really sluggish until about 6 months. Then we took her to be spaded, the vet said she had a bad abdominal infection and had he not did her surgery, she may have died in less than a year old. Damned breeder didn’t keep the best of clean area for the mom and pups. But, she got better, lived to let us enjoy her for nine great years. Highly intelligent, learns words fast, hand signals fast, very protective of my wife and I. By keeping her a house dog, sheds year round, some dander, hated furniture changes, especially her “watch out window space”, but, I love that dog som much. Best wishes to any and all G.Sheppard owners!

My dog is half German shepherd and is so smart, loving and protecting. She has never attacked someone and doesn't bark unless someone is knocking or ringing the doorbell.

Awwww the first thing my dog does is lick my face all over and wake me up. If I don’t she comes and sleep with me on bed and tell me to wake up for her pee pee time! Trust me you can hear and understand then eventually. Mine is 5 months old GSD baby Emiko 💕. Thank you for sharing 🥳

I have a dog that has some german shepherd, i think 33-50% and some golden retriever. I can vouch for all of these things.
Every place is coated in a small layer of black hairs especially in shedtember.
And yes, they follow you everywhere 😊

My parents had a German Shepard when I was a toddler, and it was apparently huge but would allow me to sleep in the dog kennel with it , I wish I could remember it but how great is that .

I rescued a very skinny scared German Shephard husky mix from KCPP 2 years ago. They knew nothing about him other then they got him 2 hours before I adopted him from St Lewis MO. He is the best dog ever!! So sweet funny and loving. When I was tboned last April by a Ford 250 pick up truck who ran a red light he was always by my side like his love would cure me.

Many years ago, I got an German Shepard - Colli Mix, never met a Dog like this again, smart, kids loving (much). I don't give her much education, but she never did anything wrong. And she protects me. ♥️
Lol the morning bark is such a pain! It’s only topped when mine drops her metal bowl on the hard wood floor, making a loud clanking noise! Still love her completely though!

My old German Shepherd Koda was a trip. She died of a tumor. She was always playfully vocal, but mainly quiet, observant and loyal. She was jet black and 80 pounds so kids were scared of her at the park. Whenever she would sense they were scared to approach her she would flip over and do her Koda Dance which is when she would just wiggle her head and butt opposite ways while letting her tongue flap around everywhere. Then the kids would swarm her and rub her belly. I think the best memory I have about how weird she was is that she wouldn’t eat human food too often. She liked deli meat and I gave her steak or chicken on her birthdays but she did this thing where I would get her tater tots from Sonic and she would eat the dog food around them. She hated fried foods 😂. German shepherds are amazing companions. Tearing up thinking of all the good she brought to the world. Nothing beats having a dog that bounds towards you from 200 yards when you yell their name. Love the video man.
EDIT: She was also obsessed with steamed broccoli with a smidge of butter, just like I am!!! We would eat separate bowls together.

Fantastic video = gorgeous Shepherd! We have two, a long coat black boy - Ronin and black and gold girl - Nikita - quite the pair of mischievous partners in crime but so much fun. I met an elderly gentleman once on a walk who had a black short coat German Shepherd about 1 yr old. He and his wife had had German Shepherds all their life. When their previous shepherd passed away, about 6 months down the track they are sitting in the lounge one evening, look at each other and say "It is too quiet"... so they got another Shepherd! And this gentleman was 74!
