In 2019, I built a 22x25 garage and installed a double wide, 4 post lift. The lift install took less than 2 days. I use colored labels on all 4 posts to indicate different levels on the lift. (My max height, oil change level, brake & suspension level) always a good idea to watch all posts as you raise and lower the lift to make sure you’re not racking the lift.
Bought and installed an Eagle 9000 lb 4 post. Two guys can do the installation with a floor jack. Greasing the slide blocks will quiet it down. We greased the cables and pulleys too. Ours is not bolted down either. A bridge jack (or two) is essential raising a vehicle off the ramps for suspension, brake work, etc. A two post is probably a better choice for engine/transmission removal, but needs at least a 8" concrete floor with rebar and must be bolted down.
Also wanted to add that we keep wheel chocks on the ramps. Often you need to roll the vehicle on the ramps when it's in the air (e.g. drive shaft removal). Leave the vehicle in neutral with wheel chocks and a little arm strong on a wheel will let you reposition the vehicle.
When you guys go super super big , please don’t forget us. You guys have come such a long way and are on a serious seriously awesome car and truck guys
I have one of these lifts at my house also. Great addition to the garage for home auto repairs. Biggest issue we have had so far, is the seals on the ram have blown out 2 times. Luckily there is a place in town that repairs them. But the mess it makes when they blow hydraulic fluid everywhere is crazy. We have only been using it to lift VW's and Jeeps so it was not due to being overloaded either. Otherwise they work great. Nice to be able to store one car above the other also.
The big difference between a 2 post and a 4 post not mentioned in the video is the thickness of the slab and amount of reinforcing. Different manufactures of 2 posts require different thicknesses and re-bar, however usually the slab thickness is anywhere between 6" to 8 in thickness, and 1/2" rebar at 6" o.c. This is extremely important, for a 2 poster, the slab is used as part of the structure of the 2 post frame. A 4 poster usually requires a standard 4" slab installed in almost every residential house. Also, for a 2 poster, you need to know the location of the center of gravity of your vehicle so it does not fall outside the limit of the 2 poster when lifting.
This is an overkill. Unless they hire a dedicated true mechanic. Outside of storing an extra vehicle or maybe doing some oil changes, these guys are not going to be doing heavy work that warrants the need for this thing. 😂
@NWI Steel you using a rolling air jack. My 4 post lift has two goodyear air jacks. You slide them under the front, back, or both and use your shop air to raise the vehicle off the ramps. Recently, Ive done a jeep grand cherokee, land cruiser, brz, and prius's shocks using the air jacks.
@NWI Steel i looked up the corrwct name, most lift manufacturers call them "Rolling Bridge Jacks. They just roll inside the two lift ramps. Mine were always at the back of the lift and id roll them under the car if i needed them
Nice addition to tumbleweed. Tip: When you bring someone who is not used to being in front of camera, coach them to speak to the interviewer. He kept jumping back and forth between Nathan and camera.
This could be partially because the camera person kept interjecting in order to impress everyone about what he knew of lifts, instead of letting Nathan continue to take point. Who we all tune into the video to see, by the way. This confused the workers as to who was running the video and confused the viewers.
9,000 lbs will lift most stuff but the lift looks small. I don’t think a full size truck will fit between the post…their new JK might not even fit. My 4 post is way wider which also makes it more stable. I really like my Advantage 9000 XLT. I know you get what you pay for but if I’m under a lift I want to be safe and mine appears to be built at a much higher quality. Larger base plates, box tubing for post. Wider stance, etc. i recommend looking around before buying. I have a feeling TFL will wish they made a different choice just like they do with the John Deere mowing tractor.
manual lock release seems pain in the ass have to hold it and moving it with the lift. Bendpak air release is much more convenient. I installed mine using cherry picker myself it's not that bad
As much as I love 2 post lifts, I would prefer a 4 post for extra safety and the fact that all you have to do is drive the car on instead of stuffing around with the arms and positioning the pads on the rails.
Can someone help me please? 1) Can you suggest any proven methods of installing such a lift in a garage that has a slope of at least 4-5 inches? 2) Also, would the lift shift if I don’t bolt it to the ground? (I would rather not anchor it as my concrete slab is only 4 inches thick.) Last question: 3) Is 4 inch thick concrete floor even enough to to support the lift with the vehicles? I would appreciate if you could please answer all or at least some of my questions🙏

@@NWI_SteelYea, I've been employed as an installer for many different companies, and have done pretty much everything but car lifts lol. The thing is after it scrapes enough material down, the sound will go away, and he will be outed for not being genuine. Spray some lithium grease down the running surfaces when your done installing, and tell the customer that it might make some noise for a while until it settles in. Don't blow smoke up their asses, trying to tell them it's nothing. If companies weren't so cheap, they would spring for a piece of delrin or urethane for the inside of each post, but as long as you keep the running surfaces lubricated there shouldn't be a problem.
Forklift gets temporarily stuck off the pad. TFLoffroad channel! Done deal. Everyone that paused at the payload # sticker that said 9,000 pounds and realized the HEV won't be up on that lift? 🤣 Installation time, 3 hours. Ish. 4-5 was predicted based on their watching other TFL videos and seeing how much interaction the crew does with assembly crews. 😂
I have this lift and I was surprised to see they left the ramps on when they lifted the car because they can easily fall off and of course hurt you when you walk into them. I also have a bridge jack and on some vehicles it will not reach far enough to catch the frame or unibody lift points to lift the vehicle to work on the suspension/brakes. Is there any suggestions to enable that? I have used bottle jacks when possible
You can use a floor jack and jack stands to raise the vehicle off the ramps before lifting it. Agree about the removing ramps before lifting. If you don't they are exactly the right height to ring your bell when you walk into them 🤕.
I highly doubt you guys are going to be doing any real work no offense. But you’re gonna wish you got a two post. Drive on lifts do nothing but get in the way. Also if you got a 2 post you could have used it to take beds off trucks and such.
I wouldn’t lift my lawnmower with a Challenger lift. Ask a reputable lift company about Challenger’s quality and warranty issues. Stick with Rotary guys, better quality
Agreed. I used to install two poster and four poster lifts and we always plumbed them upright and bolted them down to the floor due to the fact that they are prone to walking over time as you drive cars up on to the ramp. One side walks more than the other and before you know it one or two of your posts are out of true and this can lead to all sorts of dangerous outcomes. Fix them to the floor please.😅
Your lift looks like it is too small. Your not going to have enough capacity for EV trucks, SUVs and your heavy duty trucks. Your Hummer is to heavy for this lift at over 9,000 pounds.
We need a full tumbleweed/TFL life update- love seeing y’all succeed and do great things!

Maybe the chain acts as a balance.
It’s great to see more videos with Nathan in front of the TFL camera! Love his sense of humor. Great content from the entire TFL crew, Thank you!

Forget the lift! I want the 6 series in it!! Always wanted one.
Nathan you had way to much fun with this!😎👍
Those loud moans you were hearing is because they didn’t spray any grease inside the columns so the blocks are Lubed up lol
Damn that's a clean M6!
Legend has it that roman has moved the 4 post 6 times before posting video
Ok, now you guys will be able to do repairs on all your trucks and cars. I’m impressed!
having the tools and knowing how to use them are very different things

No anchor bolts in your plates, why? Nothing to chock the wheels when on rails? Seems to me a few key components are missing. Safety first! 🤨
Great video! M definitely looking to put a 4 post lift in my next garage. I can’t wait!
Glad I could help!
New TFL RESTORATIONS CHANNEL!!!!
Nice lift. I like the four post lift more than the two post lift.
How do you do suspension work (wheels off) on a 4 post though?

@@NWI_Steel You can get bridge jacks, or just jack trays and use bottle jacks to raise a car of the runways.
Indeed, four post parking lift more stable.
I painted a line on my lift so I know when it’s past the last lock. So I don’t have to hold the release the whole time.
👏👏👏CAMERA NINJA ALEX 👏👏👏 HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE ✌️
I'm jealous, congrats...my unattached garage is not tall enough.
What is the height of your unattached garage?Maybe I can help you.
Knowing my luck I would forget about the ramps hanging down in the back an I would walk into them.
Maybe they are installing it for David because the rest of them don’t seem to have a mechanical bone in their body.
I initially thought they built the building for indoor parking for Tommy's quirky Euro cars.
Great job. Thank you guys.

2:10 boiler up!
Congratulations!

I like it😊
Yay!! Another 20-minute commercial from TFL! 🙄
Yay! You watched!
Really helpful video,thanks dear!
The video seems to jump from frame to frame (rather than a smooth motion) when you pan. What camera are you using to record?
As much as I love 2 post lifts, I would prefer a 4 post for extra safety and the fact that all you have to do is drive the car on instead of stuffing around with the arms and positioning the pads on the rails.
four post parking lift are safer.
now you can change headlights on your vehicles
And work on our RC cars too!

Good Morning ‘Andre’s Garage May I Help you’!
We just discovered Simon Whistler's day job.
Today I learned about the various type of automotive lifts. I’m Simon Whistler for TFL Automotive Education.
If your concrete pad isn’t up to spec (6”), can four footings be drilled and filled with two or three feet of concrete?
Depending on your latitude, two or three foot deep footings will not get you below the frost line.

How much did it cost
What's the difference between these and Bendpak?
I prefer the 2 post lifts, you can take the tired off
True, and diagnose wheel bearings or drivetrain issues by being able to run the car at speed
Hmmm, hope you get some lube on that thing or align it so the scraping stops.
Totally normal, thats just what you get, no big deal.... lol
@@deejayimm I caught that too. Dude even smirked when he said that 😆

How has the Lift held up over the past 9 Months? Do you reccomend it?
Then the 15 foot tall guy delivered a lift 🤣
@Tfloffgift.... I trust you. You aren’t chinese or anything friend
Bring back David
are you using a 240V motor or 110V for the lift? Thx
@thecarwizard has a brother!
How tall is that dark haired dude he looks over 6'7 easily
How high is your ceiling?
How do I get one delivered to my house and get it unloaded
Where are the lifts made?
Louisville, Kentucky according to their website
Glad I could help!
Umm, I’m not sure that moaning noise is normal. Mine doesn’t make a sound.
Sounds normal to me from 30year mechanic. Been around these kind of lifts my whole career!
Mine doesn’t moan as much as she used to, either 😉
They should have lubed the slide blocks. It would have quieted it down
