I got into Percy jackson whilst having a sleepover with my cousin. She said we’d watch a movie and guess which one it was 😃 well, the second one. I was so confused and my cousin was like “read the books man” and I was “no I don’t like books” but curiosity got ahold of me and yeah 😃
6:57 you're right I felt like that too it destroys me emotionally that I didn't pick up the house of hades for a week or smth and in the bob says hello scene I was tearing up (context I was in a family event) and people were looking at me like are you okay no I'm not okay
I actually got into the books because of your channel. I believe I saw you make a tier ranking video of the characters or something and I was immediately intrigued. Percy Jackson is my favorite series of all time, thanks to you. I’ve read every single book in the Riordanverse and got out of a very rough patch in my life due to one character from the series that I hold near to my heart because they kind of saved me. Thank you so so much for introducing me to something that became my entire personality and joy in life.
I got the first book for my birthday when I was 10 or 11, and I fell in love with it 10 pages in. I have read and reread the Percy Jackson series over twenty times, I am not exaggerating. When I was younger I was OBSESSED with it, and even when I'm in my teens I still am.
I was given a copy of the Lightning Thief for my birthday, but it was the UK first edition which looked all dark and moody, with the "I didn't want to be a half-blood" speech on the back cover in blood-red text, which kind of gave the wrong impression to 10-year-old me. It looks more like it was aimed at older teens, and I never got around to reading it. Several years later, I just happened to catch the movie on TV. I thought it seemed okay, so I finally read the book and enjoyed it. It turned out that the Sea of Monsters movie was releasing that week, so I went to see that and bought all the books up to that point (The Mark of Athena). I finished the Heroes of Olympus series, but by then I was 18 and trying to distance myself from anything aimed at kids. When I moved house last year that I ended up reading most of my old books and finally decided to try out the Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase and Trials of Apollo. It was only then I started actually following what was going on with new releases, the TV adaptation, and such. So I have quite a variety of different (UK) cover styles for different books: the original Lightning Thief hardcover, the Sea of Monsters movie cover, the 2013 redesign for the rest of the Percy Jackson books, the original Heroes of Olympus designs (2 paperbacks, 3 hardbacks), and the 2018 redesign for everything else (with the Tower of Nero having a slightly reflective material in the artwork).
I used to hate reading seeing it as more of a chore since my parents had to force me to read and I never found it fun like it did movies and games, to me the medium of literature was just boring. My sister kept talking about the Percy Jackson books and eventually I picked up TLT and laughed a lot just in the first chapter. From there I picked up the rest of the books over the course of a few years, my sister had some but I distinctly had to buy Last Olympian. My sister had Lost Hero but I was too weak willed to read a book that long. Fast forward several years and I’m in college and after my love of reading was reignited more than ever as I was listening to The Wheel of Time audiobooks and looking at what the Riordanverse had become in the years I was away I realized I was super behind the curve, so I got ebooks for all the main series I had not read. I liked KC, and I loved HoO and MC. But I wasn’t sure how much I was still into it, especially after BoO and SotD both ended in underwhelming fashion, then after a brief break I read ToA and was completely blown away. I was questioning before if the Riordanverse was still my favorite series, ToA not only confirmed it was my favorite series, but ToA could fill that place all on its own. While it doesn’t do everything the best, the writing style still makes me laugh even as an adult, the characters are still lovable, and resolution to each book is still so satisfying. There is almost no other series that I just enjoy reading so much.
For me, some kids I knew were reading it. Our teacher recommended it to the class and I remember being SUPER against it. But, I decided to give it a try. I read it with one of my friends and we seriously loved it. The books honestly brought my friend and myself closer.
I got into Percy Jackson with the movies I hate that's the case but I cherish the time I spent watching them with my grandpa (Don't worry he's still alive I'm just a very sentimental person) a year after getting the set where the covers from a poster (I was like there's no poster until I randomly put them together) I started reading them while going camping with my family one time I was reading the Titan's Curse while my 8-month-old niece napped on me (she's 3 now and I feel old) the Riordenverse has become one of those IPs that I will never stop loving like Yugioh for example I know Riptide is supposed to be a cheap black pen but I always imagine it as a fancy wooden pen with bronze pieces with blue or sea green ink
i got the first two books years ago, when my mom was cleaning this building and i saw this box full of books i was like “whoa, these two match each other!” but i had these two for years..YEARS! just sitting on my shelf and then i finally decided to read them last year and i’m loving them so far and i got the complete set last month! (i don’t have easy access to books where i’m from, so i’m slowly getting them)
@@Unclaimeddemigod i’ve just finished PJO! i laughed, i cried, and i love it so much! i’ll be going into Kane Chronicles soon, giving myself time to process everything that happened in TLO first 😂
The first PJO book I read was the Burning Maze ( I know, the best book to start with ) after reading it, I was hooked. So I started reading the rest of TOA ( I had NO IDEA that there were 2 whole series before that) so I basically spoiled the first 2 series for my self without knowing it.
I read the percy jackson and the olympians just before the pandemic and I loved the ending of the last olympian. During the pandemic I got more time so I started reading the rest of the books. I've read all of them in Spanish cause I'm from Extremadura. Mucha suerte con el canal, ojalá sigas creciendo!!
I got into the books when my friend introduced them to me in second grade. At first I was really against reading them, they just didn’t sound good to me. Then we made a deal, I had to try 100 pages, then if I didn’t like it I could stop. I fell in love ten pages in.
My story is that I found Percy Jackson’s guide to Greek gods at the library. I didn’t realize that was a Percy Jackson book for a while until my brother- who had all the pjo books and the first two hoO books, pointed it out. I was then incredibly bored so I watched the movies and hated them even though I haven’t even read the books yet. My parents then suggested to me that I read the books, it took me two days to read the first one, I only read some of the second one, it took me one day to read the third, 2 1/2 days to read the fourth, and 2 days to read the fifth. I don’t remember how long it took me to read hero’s of Olympus books. I still love the books and I have tried to have my friends read them but none of them did in the first month. They all watched the movies though. One of those friends that I tried to convince to read the books hasn’t trusted me since I made her watch Hamilton in my musical phase I totally grew out of 😬 but she looked so much like the description of Annabeth and it weirded me out. (Yes I did use a name related to Percy Jackson on kahoots). Anyway, thank you brother that I “love” so much.
I just love your videos . End of story , they're just soo good , not much more to say and i hope you continue making pj videos. I actually got into pj because i ordered like 15 books for my bday of different genres( hunger games - i have read the first one- game of thrones ) and that included pj and i just fell in love with it. Sry for the long comment!
Same thing for me, the movie got me into the book. I love, love, love the movie so much. I knew it would take forever for the rest to be made into movie so I read the book. I never done this in my life before but the idea in the movie (and idea of kid with god power) just sounded so cool back then (in college for me). I read everything my Rick since including the Present series. I am the few (maybe 1%) who still love the movie so much after reading the book. No one will change my mind, the movie are awesome. (And I read all the book to TOA and TSATS )
My mom read me the series when I was… what was it, 8 years old? Needless to say, I finished all of the series by the age of 10 and now I’m rereading them and I relate to them more than I ever have which means that I probably have ADHD or sum sh!t. And reading all of those books is probably the reason I’m not phased when ppl die anymore. And probably the reason of my trauma and having no friends in school. I need some *dam* friends
