It's been 7 long years since I last followed your content. As a junior in 2015 I didnt make my high school throwers squad but that offseason through your help I worked hard on my technique and strength training to become the best shot putter. One year later my throws averaged 5-6m further than my pb the year prior. In the end I was the zone champion and placed 5th in the nationals. It's good to see you still rocking the content. Thank you Coach.

I am a sophomore in high school and I want to get into discus. I have been training with a good schedule and proper eating (I find that 3500-5000 calories a day works for me) (i also have a fast metabolism so, yes i need to eat this much) do you have any tips for me to get started? Also, my schools winter track&field team starts mid December. by then i would of around 4.5 months of training. Do you think that is enough to enter the sport without putting my body at risk or should i wait until spring track and field to increase training an lower chance of injury?

I would recommend buying a discus with a lower rim weight and planning out some time to get outside and start working with it. Maybe one day you start with bowling drills. Then a few days later getting used to the release. From there continue adding one small step a day. 2 or 3 days a week, maybe one hour a day is all it takes to get a little bit of a jump on the spring season and get your body ready. Don’t overthink it or try to plan it out. Just start it up.
