Being constrained to a wheelchair myself, I 100% agree with Xqc's take at the end. Out in public if I have to talk to someone new for whatever reason, alot of people seem to see the wheelchair and speak to me in a polite but condescending kinda way, kind of like you would talk to a 5 year old or something.
I completely get why people do that though and there's never really any ill will meant. I'm not upset at people when they they do this, again, people are just trying to be nice, but it does remind me at times that I'm not really "normal" and tampers the mood a bit.
Whenever you're out in public and see someone who has a disability or is trans or has any other kinda thing going on with them, trust me when I say the best way to treat us, is to treat us as you would any other person. Whether thats passing by and nodding, saying hi, ignoring us completely or whatever. Just don't give any kinda special treatment. The thought is nice, but its just a bit humiliating at times. Not saying thats how everyone feels mind you, just my opinion on the matter.
