Years ago, Jobo made a small color safelight designed to be carried around with you in the darkroom. It used very dim, amber diodes, and may have been the smaller cousin of the one he has on top of his enlarger. I never tested it to the limits of how much of its exposure my paper would take before being damaged. After years of doing all of my color printing in the dark, I found that I had very little use for the thing, apart from the rare occasion where I put something down, out of place, and wanted to find it without turning on the room lights. I concluded that it was more novelty than tool.
Yep, but now selection of anything on the market is zero and it’s incredibly useful tool for the beginners
I think the light you are talking about is called the Jobo MiniLux Color? I got one along with an assortment of random tools when I bought my enlarger. I may try my first color prints in the next few weeks, I am just waiting for an old 8x10 Cibacrhome drum to show up, I have some pre-cut fuji paper and a RA-4 kit from Bellini. Exciting times here...!
Few days ago I was looking for a safelight too. I ended up knowing that I need a 590nm light (yellow/amber). Yours appears to be very powerful.
Would love to try out this safe light if/when you decide to sell it on your store! 👍 Thank you so much for your hard work on this! 👍
Thx for the support!
Super interested in the safelight!!!
I would love to buy a working safelight from you! Need to stop bruising myself in the darkroom haha
Will the safelight be available again?
Would love to try a new safe light, mine is really dim (it’s an old durst tricolor)
Unfortunately dim light it’s only one option, because modern paper crazy sensitive now for machine fast printing
I'm actually ingested in the Fuji kit. I've not seen it being offered here in the states (or I just haven't looked hard enough) . Can I ask where you obtained it. I'm still pretty happy with bellini, but it's nice to have options. 😊
Macodirect, fotoimpex
Thank you.. I would love a safe light. and looking forward to the next video. maybe not a pen safe light but a stand a lone light?
Noted!
hi, will you dry your drum eveytime when you do the next test sheet or print ?
I usually just wipe it clean with microfiber, it's enough
And we never heard of this safelight again
Because i have one preorder and no further interest in investing my time in the project)
@@NordicLab would you be filling to share the plans for this?
About the safelight pen, you can upload a video commenting the process. Research, prototyping, testing…you know. So we can comprehend the great effort you put in this project. It is not just a pen are hours of work. 👏👏👏
Sure, i can, but its still the in the progress, and so far i’m a bit busy with life 😅 to share all the details about all projects what i’m doing. But ill try to do more, thx for the comment.
Where can I buy the test printer for test strips?
Unfortunately they out of stocks now, but it will be available soon, i’ll keep posted here )
Where do I get this light?
At the moment it’s discontinued because of lack of customers. Stay tuned at ko-fi.com/nordiclab
