The reason the Japanese version sounds so similar to the Swedish version is because the lyrics are phonetically interpreted in Japanese. Essentially, they substituted the original Swedish lyrics with similar-sounding Japanese words. For example, the line "Dansa med oss, klappa era händer" (dance with us, clap your hands) is now "Barusamiko-su yappa irahende" (I don't want balsamic vinegar after all).

This is a transliteration, not a translation Translation, put in simple terms, gives you the meaning of a word that's written in another language. A transliteration doesn't tell you the meaning of the word, but it gives you an idea of how the word is pronounced in a foreign language.
Watching a video about the history of this, there was a huge joke in Japan about this. It's bad auditory translation. Instead of "Dansa med oss", it's "Barusamikosu", which translates to Balsamic Vinegar. And the whole friggin song is like that.
It's not simply a transliteration. It's Japanese sentences (not just character sounds) that mimic the swedish original. It's nonsense (about balsamic vinegar, weird teachers, and missiles) but every word of it is Japanese, just based on misheard Swedish lyrics. It's like how Dragostea Din Tei (Numa Numa) sounds like a song about Picasso mashing fetid cheetahs and raising fresh pears.
If you think why the song is more like Swedish, yeah its actually because the lyric is not the actual translation but taken by Japanese missheard version or as they called 空耳 (sora mimi). It is why the song is sounded similiar to the original. Here's the lyric: フェラーリリードはほらね? The context doesn't make sence because although they are singing in japanese they're just singing missheard lyrics. As a native swedish speaker I can still hear the original swedish lyrics
@@AK-xh9vv In the original version the lyrics does make sence yes. The main part of the song is the following: "Dansa med oss, klappa era händer, gör som vi gör, ta några steg åt vänster, lyssna och lär, missa inte chansen, nu är vi här med caramelldansen" which translates to: "Dance with us now, clap your hands together, do as we do, take some steps to the left, listen and learn, do not miss the chance, now we are here with the caramel dance" It's feels a little wierd that I can still hear the swedish lyrics and understand even though they sing in a language that is nothing like mine. Now tell me, what do they actually sing in the japanese version?
@@grebo8382 Thaat’s super cool!! In Japanese, most of the lyrics don’t even form the word/sentence, but the first sentence of the main part I hear "バルサミコ、やっぱいらへんね" which means that "Balsamic(THE VINEGAR), yes I don’t need that" with a bit suburban dialect lol

As a self-taught person learning Japanese for almost 4 years, i believe the singer is Japanese and this is not official Japanese lyrics which is should be translated from the original language song in fact it's Japanese lyrics that's when viral in niconico around 2007 in Japan because of the lyrics called "barusamikosu" or "balsamic vinegar" and to the existence of this emoticon ウッーウッーウマウマ(゚∀゚) the caption says "u-u-uma uma" in katakana otherwise to say "o-o-oa oa" "Uma" means a horse, almost all the words in Caramelldansen lyrics are change it as closely as possible to Japanese. The term lyric language is identical to the Japanese language they heard at that time, verbally it could be said that the Japanese misheard the lyrics, now wondering who sing these lyrics "Japanese Version" but why dare to accuse that it is so possible that this is official from Caramella Girls. Is such a difficult to seek the truth and see the original sources.
Everyone who's saying the lyrics are Swedish that's the point most lines are actually Japanese but they are just misheard Japanese lyrics from the Swedish version so that's why they sound similar
For anyone wondering why it sounds the same, in Japan it became a meme where the lyrics are misheard as nonsensical words that sound the same, and this one is made to match the misheard words Sorry if I didnt expain well, im not english
Thing is, they've made the Japanese lyrics in such a way that they are pronounced as close to Swedish as possible. There is only Japanese in the song, but there are sentences which are so close to swedish sentences in pronouncation that swedes here the original. Example : "Dansa med oss, klappa era händer" is in this version "Barusamiko-su Yappa irahen de" (You've got to know how to pronounce it in both languages to recognise the similarity).
As a English, French and German speaker I understood that. 0:33 Call me gay Me also, follow me (follow me) So like your Sunday ha ha ha In a headtube She's in a melody Oma oma ah ah Dansa avec mes gosses Klappa in die Hände Your should be knowledge, Sensei. The "translation" is actually based on tons of mishearings japanese people came up with when caramelldansen went viral on a japanese video sharing platform. Basically they got attached to the meme because of the way the platform works; it's a long story just watch Jan misali's video about it.

@@PenguinParty Oh, cool.
Balsamic vinegar.
This is a transliteration, not a translation
Translation, put in simple terms, gives you the meaning of a word that's written in another language.
Isn't transliteration meant to be written though?
This is just misheard lyrics, aka mondegreen.
@@Manuel71 It is the 'Japanese Soramimi (Air-Ears) Version':
sora =sky/air/heavens
mimi=ear(s)
soramimi = mishearing

@@grebo8382 just curious… In Swedish does the lyric/context make sense??? What they singing about??
@@AK-xh9vv In the original version the lyrics does make sence yes. The main part of the song is the following:
"Dansa med oss, klappa era händer, gör som vi gör, ta några steg åt vänster, lyssna och lär, missa inte chansen, nu är vi här med caramelldansen"
which translates to:
"Dance with us now, clap your hands together, do as we do, take some steps to the left, listen and learn, do not miss the chance, now we are here with the caramel dance"
