Troubleshooting the Crochet Daisy

- Some of you have been asking about how to count the number of stitches in the magic ring and where to place those clusters for the daisy petals of the Cozy Days Daisy Blanket 🌼 I hope this video helps explain it!
When you slip stitch to the first single crochet to close the round, that slip stitch overtakes the stitch below it. Thus, you work a cluster in that slip stitch and the 11 other stitches (not including the stitch that got overtaken by the slip stitch)!
Find the free crochet pattern on my blog here (link to Lion Brand kit as well): www.allaboutam...

After making a handful of successful daises and then all of the sudden ending up with 13 petals no matter how many times I counted 12 stitches, this video saved me. Thank you for making this, and I’m glad I saw it before I decided to light all of my yarn on fire😹
I’m SO GLAD you found this video and that you found it helpful 🙌🏻 Thx so much for letting me know! Hehe glad we could save your yarn and daisies 🧶🌼
me too😂
Yeah so many people struggle with the stitch that got overtaken, i think its where we all go wrong as beginners. Great job, im sure this will help many ❤
Thanks so much for your feedback! Yes I hope people will find this helpful - it can definitely be confusing as a beginner!
Thank you so much 😭 I was so confused everytime cuz I was having 13 stitches
You’re very welcome! Glad I could help!
My daughter and i LOVE daisies so of course when i saw this pattern i knew i had to do it for us. Im currently working on your daisy square bag. Same concept but smaller so i wouldnt mess up the big ones. This is SOOO helpful! Thank you! ❤
I’m so glad you found this helpful, Nadia! That’s wonderful how you and your daughter love daisies! Enjoy crocheting the bag! You’re very welcome!
This is soo beautiful!!! You have inspired me to start crocheting again after not doing it since I was 18 (I’m 27 now 😬)
I would absolutely love to see you do a Sunflower Granny Square blanket like this one 🌻🧶💖
Thank you very much for your encouragement 🥰 I’m glad this could help inspire you to crochet again! A sunflower blanket would be beautiful - if you check IG, there are ppl who changed their colors to make sunflower blankets ☺️
I just purchased your kit from Lion brand to make the Daisy Bag, this is very helpful. Thank you!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you found this helpful 🥰 Thanks for your support! I hope you enjoy the kit and crocheting your own daisy blanket 💖
Thanks so much for this! I made a few circles, still need more but I wanted to attempt a Daisy to make sure I had the right amount of stitches. It was a success! 😊
I’m so happy to hear that! Great job making your daisy 🌼 I’m glad you found this video helpful 🥰
Super clear and helpful, thank you!
Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate it ❤️
Very helpful 😊 thank you!
Thanks so much for your feedback! Glad you found it helpful!
Gracias ❤
De nada 🩷
Great and Easy, Thanks ❤
Thanks for your feedback 💖
I wish I watched this before I finished 21 squares 😅 I always thought you had to skip the slip stitch. I thought they looked a little wonky but couldn't figure out why.
Aww I’m glad you found out why!
Hello, I'm having some trouble with how my daisies are looking, I think it's the hook. I used an 8mm hook as you recommend, but the yarn you use is for 6.5mm hooks, how are you getting it to look so tight? Could it be that there's a measuring difference between US mm and EU mm?
Hi there! If the hook size is shown in mm then they would be the same! I used an 8 mm hook even though the 6.5 mm is recommended for this yarn. I intentionally used a larger hook to get more drape for this blanket, and to also ensure that I got larger granny squares (rather than getting really tight and smaller granny squares). I would compare your granny square final dimensions with mine: if yours are much larger (meaning you crochet more loosely than I do and our tension is different), you could try going down a hook size and using the 6.5 mm hook!
I love it!
Thank you so much!
Where can I find the full tutorial of the daisy please I really need it
You can find the full tutorial in my video called the “Cozy Days Daisy Blanket” 🌼
Is the stitch that’s overtaken by the slip stitch the first stitch in the round?
And for the following round, does that first stitch get a cluster? Or not because it was overtaken? I’m not sure why I’m having so much trouble with this!
Yes the stitch that’s overtaken by the slip stitch is the first single crochet in the round! The slip stitch gets the cluster since it overtook the stitch below it!
You're amazing
Thank you ❤️
No matter how tight I pull it, or how many I make, the centre of the daisies just won't completely close ): I don't know what I am doing wrong. It's a tiny little gap in the center everytime. So frustrating!! And I don't understand what we are supposed to do with all the loose strings
Are you using the same yarn and hook size that I did? You can crochet over those loose ends and then weave them in the opposite direction for added security. I’ve got some short videos you can check out in which I demonstrate how to do this!
Hi Stephanie, your videos and patterns are so helpful and fun! This doesn’t matter, but I am a 11 year old crocheter and I am trying to figure out your amigurumi elephant pattern. To clarify, I understand the rows and stitch part of it, but my project keeps getting pointy on each end of the rectangular base shape (rows 1-5) can you give advice?
Hi James! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! Would you like to send me an email and a picture? We can try and see what is going on!
@@AllAboutAmiBlog oh that is okay, luckily I have just learned from another crocheter I know! I’m currently creating one and I’m halfway through the limbs!! Thank you though :)
I’m glad to hear that!
I'm working on the final round of the square and i keep ending up with 9 dc across instead of 10. Ive pulled it out and redone multiple times, is anyone else experiencing this?
If you are ending up with 9 dc, you are probably accidentally skipping two double crochets at the beginning of the side! One of the double crochets usually gets “hidden” behind the corner stitches, so that is the one you need to skip 👍🏻
How should I know which one I should skip and not work through?
You should work through the stitches that are single crochets from the round below but not the ones that are chain 1’s or slip stitches!
How much ply on yarn ?😊
I used bulky level 5 yarn for this daisy which is 12 ply yarn 🧶
Does the yarn have to be cotten??
You can use any yarn you want! The yarn shown in this video is an acrylic/wool blend 🧶
Whenever I skip that “overtaken” stitch, I end up with a bigger gap between those petals. If I count the holes under the stitches, I always have thirteen. It just looks wrong, like there should be a petal in that gap. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Once I just counted that last “overtaken”
stitch as #12 and crocheted into it, and I didn’t have a gap. I am so confused!
Have you tried pulling the final yarn tail of the circle tighter once you’ve worked the petals? It helps to reduce that gap that might form!
do you have to tie the new white wool in somehow or just start crocheting?
You can add it as a slip knot or just add it in and start crocheting! You can see how I add it in the main tutorial video on my RUclips channel!
@@AllAboutAmiBlog ok, thank you!!
what is the number of the needle ?
I used an 8 mm crochet hook to crochet the daisy square!
@@AllAboutAmiBlog ok thank you. I did not understand much from your explanation in the video because I am Turkish, but I will try to do it anyway. I also looked at your other videos.
I am doing your blanket. I would love it if you could slow down. As a beginner and transferring from English to American I need instructions to be a little slower. Thank you
Thank you for being courteous in asking! I will keep your request in mind for future videos ❤️ For now, you can click “Settings” and “Adjust Playback Speed” to 0.5x or 0.25x to slow down the video!
Türkçe altyazı lütfen❤
I don’t know how to add subtitles, but I’ll try and figure it out!
@@AllAboutAmiBlog sabırsızlıkla bekliyorum teşekkür ederim 🌸🌸🍀
