Mate how is this teaching anything?? You played the cords of an already tuned guitar, if somebody doesn't know how to tune it, how do you expect them to learn from this video?
I gave up studying guitar in high school up to now as I don't know how to tune. Thanks to technology for there is now RUclips where I can see and hear you. I finally did it and I am 61 years old. Thank you so much for a New Year's gift of being able to tune my own guitar.
Nina C. Tan I’m a year older than you and have been playing since I was 4. I seem to have this Gift of hearing some song in my head, guessing what key it is in, so I humm the Song, play the song, and almost always from memory am in the right key, even If I haven’t heard the song for months. One thing I’m starting to forget though Is putting new strings on the guitar. I can kind of do it, but it’s like I lost my memory Or something. Anyway, I suggest you buy a guitar tuner. Do you sing too? What do You want to play?
Rez Buzz RUclips is something for everyone, so I doubt only young people do. There’s a majority of older people that don’t know how to use RUclips or think its useless, but the ones who’ve embraced technology love this stuff.
I'm 92 years old and finally able to tune the guitar I have had for 70 years, which was my father's. I had been holding it with the strings facing towards my chest all these years with an undesirable outcome. Thank you. God bless.
Tico, I was using a new Aldie guitar bought today, and the strings seemed a bit fragile and way out of tune. I was a little scared the high B or E would go, especially after stretching them for over an octave. Somehow, though, we all survived.
If you're afraid of tuning your guitar because of the fear of having the string snap from turning the knob too tightly, then just cover the guitar up by a pillow or cloth as you turn the knob! That way, the string won't fly at your face. I did this while using this video as a guide. Thanks by the way for this lovely tutorial! It really helped!
My older sister so happened to leave her acoustic guitar my other older sister gave her for Christmas, in our shed. During this quarantine I want to pick up, if not a few, one talent and nourish it. This video was extremely helpful in tuning this baby by ear. Makes me feel like I'm one step closer to Lenny Kravitz and John Mayer 😂😂
YourGuitarSage I have a question, maybe you can help me out or someone else here. Im learning to play guitar through a game on PlayStation 3 called Rocksmith 2014 and i can play a few songs already(i know it's 2017) but this is the latest version and it still keeps being updated, I play metal heavy metal/rock-hardrock. in the game you can use bunch of tuning configurations, such as E standard, C standard. but here is the thing, there is also D drop C tuning, now if i try to find more information about how to tune it by ear, I only get the Drop C configuration why is that, is there by any chance a tuner available where you can choose wich configuration you want at any time? whether its E standard or any other configuration. id like to learn and know more about it, and be able to do it myself, anyways thanks for you help mister ! awesome job keep it up
Ahhhhh thank you so much. After like 3 days I've finally got it tuned. I watched a ton of tuning vids and this one is what finally got me to the right tunes

When I first bought my guitar 2-months ago, it was already perfectly tuned. Last night my girl accidently knocked it over and yes, knocked it completely out of tune. and I realized I had no ideal on how to tune my guitar. Thank you so very much for your lesson on tuning. I got it my friend.
Thank you. I just bought my1st guitar for my 42nd birthday. Granted it was only $24.99 at my local Ross Store, I tuned it to this guy's instruction, to the T. It sounds beautiful. I know I'll have to buy a legit guitar but I've always wanted to learn to play. Happy Birthday to Me and thank you for this awesome tutorial.
You are an excellent teacher. You make it inviting and not so daunting to learn to play. I'm learning with my daughter's, who are 6 and 11 so.... Thank You for caring and sharing!
I learned the frets, notes, strings, how to stop fretting buzz and types of tuning which was very helpful. i started playing in standard tuning. The way I tune my guitar is i play it while i tune it. I start with the bass strings then play with the treble strings back and forth while adjusting the bridge until I can play something I like or all my own.
I fail to see how this teaches to tune unless you have been playing a while and know what each string should sound like. I used to try to hum to I think G, get it to match my voice, then tune the others to it. I attempted to this by holding a string down in the fourth fret and tune until both got as close as I could get them in tone. Bottom E would match B with B held down in 5th fret (I think). Been a while. Never really got it down pat. :(
ChimChim Jams Strings are very inexpensive. Order on line. I payed all of $5 including shipping. Then I RUclipsd videos on how to replace missing strings. 😌

Thanks a lot for this video. I'm always tuning my acoustic guitars. I'm probably a little obsessive about wanting my guitars to always be perfectly in tune. This video is very useful to me. Since I'm blind and need an audible tuner. Why do all guitar tuners have to be visual. Not every guitarist has vision. I highly recommend martin strings if you're looking for guitar strings. They seem to stay in tune very well. I don't have to retune my guitars nearly as much as I did when I'd use other brands of strings.
I played lead guitar in the late 60s for the Nomads in Springfield, just north of Nashville. Since then I have played bass professionally for many rock and country rock bands but wanted to get back to playing guitar on the side again. I previously used the 5 fret tuning trick but had forgotten what was different on the 3rd string from bottom. I had to view another video to see the one fret change.
