    As a Sunderland fan I thought QPR did their homework and played very well even before Jobe was sent off!
    We never really got going in this one!
    A few half chances but it was a bit of a scrappy stop start game and QPR played some good football; winning the ball back by forcing errors- the only thing missing for QPR was up front- had they had someone dangerous up top they may have capitalised on our red card!
    A decent point for Sunderland and obviously a clean sheet with 10 men for most of the second half is a positive!
    I think had Jobe not been sent off we may have adapted the tactics and created a lot more in the second half and maybe nicked something; once Jobe went off the pitch it was backs to the wall and happy with a point!
    Good luck to QPR, if you play like that against most of the championship teams you’ll find ways to score and get out of the bottom 🤞🏻🤞🏻👍

    I felt that there was a fairly consistent level of disappointment at the final whistle on Saturday, which I was surprised about. Yes, they played 30 mins with 10 men and we never seriously threatened them, but I felt there were more reasons to be optimistic than disappointed. Varane’s performance was seriously encouraging after his fairly tame efforts prior, Madsen, as you said, looked like he wanted to prove a point and I thought Celar put in a significantly better shift than he has to date. It looked to me like Frey had had a word with him and told him to put himself about. Small steps, but steps in the right direction. I reckon we’ll be ok.

    • @HoopsaYouTube
      @HoopsaYouTube  Месяц назад

      I heard that disappointment too in the ground. I guess despite an improved performance, we still didn't score, we've only seen four goals in seven at home this season and we haven't scored more than once. Still, some positives to take forward as you say.

    • @electrician1602
      @electrician1602 Месяц назад

      Our start to this season obviously doesn’t make any sense. We’ve come off the back of top 6 form from Jan to the end of last season, in theory, strengthened certain areas of the squad and subsequently lost the plot. I think it’s a confidence issue, not an ability issue and the fact that we’ve now maybe seen what Varane can offer, potentially Madsen too and if Celar can convert his more involved performance into something that his RUclips clips suggested he was about and if Dembele can show us in real time what he was about about Blackpool and if Saito can put something special on the end of his tricky wing play and if Chair can do the simple thing once in a while, if JCS can stay fit, if Cook and Dunne start pitching in with a few goals again, then I think our rewards to greatly improve. I feel like all the above could well happen.
      I suppose the other reason I left the ground happy was that after nearly 40 years of following QPR, this feeling of falling is not new to me, most football fans feel it to be fair, but it’s not about the destination, it’s all about the journey. We’re not building towards a destination, every season rolls into another one and every era that passes now will be some part of a future memory.
      I just enjoy it now, largely.

    Really spot on analysis. Morgan, Varane, and Madsen all having their best games so far. Same too for Ashby in his unfamiliar position prior to his injury. Cook giving a skippers performance especially taking charge when Bellingham's horror tackle could have resulted in Rangers yellow cards.

    Good Summary as always mate. I do wonder why we have so many Injuries. Its like our players are made of Glass. Slightest little thing and they are off for Months. The Striker problem has to be solved like Yesterday. Good to see clean sheets but we have to get a few in the net at the other end. On the positive side we got a point off of Burnley and Sunderland. Thats not bad going. Thanks mate, looking forward to your next post.

    great summary. As you say Morgan is an absolute gem...the Hayden we were looking for. Looking forward to watching him this season. Together with Varane and Madsen the midfield has slickness and class. Like you I think there is still the possibility the Slovenian will come good. If his head is in the right place he will keep working. We saw flashes of his potential. As fans we are impatient but we have to think about what Marti is working with and how well he has done.

    There was definitely (or seemingly) a sea change in this game. We looked a lot more robust and hard to beat like last season. Perhaps Marti has finally conceded that we just aren't Barcelona. Morgan for me looks like he has the potential to be a Paul Scoles type player and I hope we keep him playing and growing because he could be massive for us. Hopefully we can take this far more robust version of ourselves into Tuesday night and some how grind out the win. The most QPR thing to do would be to capitulate to a not great Boro side this season and then, amidst the consternation that would create, beat Leeds away.

    433 we looked good shame we have no goal scorer up front, varane is definately the best signing in the summer, personally i blame the manager in this one he should of replace a defender for lloyd up front infact he had 2 options in kolli and lloyd but didnt bring either on, i think sam field is a better centre half than a midfielder, i really really hope frey will be back on tuesday

      @HoopsaRUclips not sure when he is back tbh, how can a professional football club have 1 1st team striker available...honestly it really pisses me off, it's so obvious where the problem is!! It's been like this a fair few seasons aswell, Lloyd and kolli are novices and still young, where is our championship strike force?? Kevin gallen has asked this also for at least 3 seasons aswell, I'm so desperate for celar too score but I just think he is out of his depth, why we have not entered the freebie markets is baffling...I'm sure kemar roofe is avaliable?

    You were a lot better than your league position suggests. We were miles off the pace we nearly set, but could not handle your physicality. Struggled with the height and the ‘bullying’ (to use your commentator’s term after your player put Cirkin over the advertising boards off the ball). Will be a good point for us overall I think.

    Unfortunately I couldn't be at the game because I was super ill but was convinced we were too powder puff to cause them any problems and that we were just gonna get ripped to pieces on the counter attack but you've gotta be pleased with keeping a clean sheet against the side top of the league! As for the performance I can't really say anything as I wasn't there but if we can hold Sunderland and Burnley to clean sheets back to back we can be a handful for anyone if we're at our best. Our injury list is very worrying tho, we seem to be dropping like flies. JCS is starting to look like typical JCS where he just can't stay fit, Colback is out for ages, Dembele & Frey are both out who're difference makers, and Ashby now injured is very worrying as I don't rate Santos at all

    Varane, Madsen & Morgan seem to be our best option in midfield. Morgan has hit the ground running. This should not be underestimated for an 18-year-old kid. No more tinkering, keep with these three and the understanding will only get better. A midfield without Field, maybe it's time to bench Chair. We have options in that department. . Still concerning that, the right wing going forward is really ineffective. I would've brought on Kolli on the left whipping in balls from 30, 40 yards out with pace, Celar ho done alright would've got on the end of at least one of them. It's not all doom and gloom.

    We have scored the least number of goals in this division & I can't see it improving .We got rid of Willock, Armstrong & Dykes .Hark back to v Leeds, where Field was brilliant in attack.Chair, Field and Willock have been instrumental. As it currently stands could we become the "Draw Masters" ,a far cry from being entertaining.Chair looks despondent,don't blame him.
