Because they're single player dungeon-esque classic model. GTA, or worse, Cyberpunk, had 99999999 years of teasers because they need the hype to be sure that the project is worth it. The budget and time to create it would be several times higher than a closed world single player. Not to mention player feedback and trend reading to make the immersion better, for example stand up comedy gimmicks, radio songs, and meme wars around us.

It's just that Capcom makes their games first and then announce them, instead of announcing game and then just starting to work on it like CD Projekt does. With the amount of effort Capcom put into those other Resident Evil segments, it was obviouse it was leading to something. I wouldn't say they subverting our expectations. He pretty much told us it was coming in his speech, and the live chat was filled with people predicted RE9 was going to close the show.

@@justremembernickname If like other games it happens close to real time, lets say 2025 for a safe estimate, it would be about 9 years since 2016 with the Baker incident. 10 if RE9 takes place in 2026. So a year or two after that incident, where Alyssa wrote an article about the disappearances in the area but the government covered it up, it seems she was killed or at least "disappeared". Maybe writing that article attracted the wrong attention her way.

It gave me a good hint like 'yo is this it?!'but when i saw the rpd entrance it really felt like an out of body experience!It was RE and it could potentially feature Leon! 🙏
With Alyssa Ashcroft being the mother of the main protagonist Grace, I do believe that an Outbreak remaster or remake is in the works. Alyssa is a character that got referenced again in RE7 having wrote an article in 2016…so if she was murdered and it’s 8 years later she must have passed around 2018 for the game to take place in 2026 (which is common for a new RE game to take place in the year it releases unless it’s a remake or side title). Anyways…learning about her in this game feels like some more context is needed for folks since she’s not exactly a household name like the other survivors. Plus a remake would give us a living, albeit also dying Raccoon City in the midst of the outbreak. Areas we didn’t get to go in RE2/3 remake could appear there including the clocktower and park. Plus all the scenarios we know from File 1/2.
God I hope so! That would be awesome, the outbreak situation was so well done, just feeling the chaos in the city. Hell even making it open world co-op would be cool.
Here's my theory: The bad guy is someone related to Lisa Trevor, maybe George Trevor, who's still alive. In fact, I'd say the scene with the injured guy with the beard saying "Stay away from her" is a flashback to when Lisa was taken. That villain has gone crazy trying to cure her or intends to achieve the same immortality but keeping his mutation under control, which is why he's been kidnapping and experimenting on people immune to the virus and, now, he needs Grace's antibodies (inherited from her mother). The ending will take place in the remains of the Spencer Mansion.
Capcom really made sure to let us know it is RE9 by zooming in to the flickering q to 9 st re9 part. 😆 As if the reference to Ashcroft and RPD doesn't hammer it home.

Alyssa was still alive at the time (as in 2016 during 7 events) as a journalist. Based on this timeline, this one happened after RE7 & 8:Village - and by counting Rose DLC, Requiem is the interquel/midquel. Yeah, right after RE7 or 8, Alyssa died by someone's hand after digging too deep in one case. We have to wait and see.
3:03 seeing the R.P.D destroyed like that hits the feelings, after growing up with this series and remembering the old gore & blood warning with the main entrance as a background, coming to realize a lot of time passed playing these games
They baited us good. Having that little segment saying "Hey, we love you guys. We're working hard on something, but need just a little bit more time before it's ready." Of course, none of us realized that "a little bit more time" meant "until the end of the show." Capcom's mastered the Resident Evil reveals. I was perked up and listening the moment I heard "Ashcroft", and was continually wondering if it was just a coincidence. Then the man said "Alyssa" and those flashes across the screen activated my memories of Resident Evil: Outbreak like a sleeper agent. Then the ruins of R.P.D. appeared and I promptly popped off. Don't even need to sell me it, I'm buying immediately. I love Resident Evil so much.
It was Chris who punched that crater because he learned that Leon didn't fck Claire in 1998 so he had to personally find him there before the nuke got dropped and out of annoyance he slammed his fist on the ground and it made that crater.

Would also make sense considering what she actually is, at the end of RE8, when Rose got mad at that agent, he had to call off people who were about to subdue her, Rose in a dangerous person, massively powerful, her being trained by Leon and Chris would be amazing, also align her with the fight against bioterrorism before she loses the plot and does something stupid.
Can't wait for old man Leon to see Wesker and says "It's you, you're the evil resident!", and then Wesker replies "No, you are." And just proceeds to evil all the residents in the area. I don't think that's David. David was a blue collar working man. A plumber. not some eccentric wealthy sounding guy. His character being like that makes no sense even if infected. I knew it was RE just from the hair animations. They have this very particular way of doing things at the RE studio. Her hair moves just like Mia's, for instance.
That's mainly because of the game engine, which they developed from scratch for RE7. It'll look more like 7/8 and 2/3/4 remakes and not like 5/6 for instance.
Okay, Alyssa is canon as of RE 7, now we see her and her daughter. I would absolutely lose my mind with joy if, to some extent, Capcom is going to bleed more RE OUTBREAK canon into the series, it would be a trip to se a reimagined Yoko, Jim, Kevin.
I doubt Jim and basically any other outbreak characters will appear. But Yoko definitely has a high chance since she was ex umbrella scientist iirc? And also she did 'interact' more with Alyssa back in Outbreak so who knows. And kevin as police officer at the time might get a promotion because 'leading' survivors to be rescued but still i doubt his reappearance in RE9 unless he somehow became some kind of BSAA or special agent like.

I think Resident Evil will always be my favorite game series. I still remember that empty feeling the Resident Evil 4 credits gave me sitting in my futon bunk bed at 9 years old. Good ol GameCube days.

Once I heard the surname Ashcroft, I instantly recognised it from its reference in Biohazard. I didn't have much knowledge about Outbreak so even then it hit me instantly. RE7 is what utterly hooked me in this absolutely incredible franchise. Since I couldn't afford getting all of the past RE games, I could only watch RUclips playthroughs in order to understand the lore. RE: VILLAGE was breathtaking, despite lacking a bit more in horror than RE7. This trailer has the same exact vibes as RE7 Biohazard and the action feeling of RE4. Seeing Racoon City after so long, in ruins like that, is bone chilling. I cannot WAIT to personally experience the franchise for the first time myself when I manage to get my hands on this game. It looks MUCH more than promising. The title alone is an indicator for a much darker experience than usual in the urban environment. I only hope Leon makes a comeback as well.

Re7 undeniably revived the IP if you want to admit it or not, their numbers and hype went down significantly after 5. 6 was literally a flop because they completely abandoned their horror roots.

@@justremembernickname If like other games it happens close to real time, lets say 2025 for a safe estimate, it would be about 9 years since 2016 with the Baker incident. 10 if RE9 takes place in 2026. So a year or two after that incident, where Alyssa wrote an article about the disappearances in the area but the government covered it up, it seems she was killed or at least "disappeared". Maybe writing that article attracted the wrong attention her way.

With Alyssa Ashcroft being the mother of the main protagonist Grace, I do believe that an Outbreak remaster or remake is in the works. Alyssa is a character that got referenced again in RE7 having wrote an article in 2016…so if she was murdered and it’s 8 years later she must have passed around 2018 for the game to take place in 2026 (which is common for a new RE game to take place in the year it releases unless it’s a remake or side title). Anyways…learning about her in this game feels like some more context is needed for folks since she’s not exactly a household name like the other survivors. Plus a remake would give us a living, albeit also dying Raccoon City in the midst of the outbreak. Areas we didn’t get to go in RE2/3 remake could appear there including the clocktower and park. Plus all the scenarios we know from File 1/2.
I hope the next remake will a huge mega game that covers all outbreak games cuz those games are kinda short tbh.

Here's my theory: The bad guy is someone related to Lisa Trevor, maybe George Trevor, who's still alive. In fact, I'd say the scene with the injured guy with the beard saying "Stay away from her" is a flashback to when Lisa was taken. That villain has gone crazy trying to cure her or intends to achieve the same immortality but keeping his mutation under control, which is why he's been kidnapping and experimenting on people immune to the virus and, now, he needs Grace's antibodies (inherited from her mother). The ending will take place in the remains of the Spencer Mansion.
Rest in peace, Alyssa. You were a great character in both Resident Evil Outbreak games. Your epilogues were the best.

Capcom's mastered the Resident Evil reveals. I was perked up and listening the moment I heard "Ashcroft", and was continually wondering if it was just a coincidence. Then the man said "Alyssa" and those flashes across the screen activated my memories of Resident Evil: Outbreak like a sleeper agent. Then the ruins of R.P.D. appeared and I promptly popped off.

I knew it was RE just from the hair animations. They have this very particular way of doing things at the RE studio. Her hair moves just like Mia's, for instance.
That's mainly because of the game engine, which they developed from scratch for RE7. It'll look more like 7/8 and 2/3/4 remakes and not like 5/6 for instance.

I think Resident Evil will always be my favorite game series. I still remember that empty feeling the Resident Evil 4 credits gave me sitting in my futon bunk bed at 9 years old. Good ol GameCube days.

Once I heard the surname Ashcroft, I instantly recognised it from its reference in Biohazard. I didn't have much knowledge about Outbreak so even then it hit me instantly. RE7 is what utterly hooked me in this absolutely incredible franchise. Since I couldn't afford getting all of the past RE games, I could only watch RUclips playthroughs in order to understand the lore. RE: VILLAGE was breathtaking, despite lacking a bit more in horror than RE7. This trailer has the same exact vibes as RE7 Biohazard and the action feeling of RE4. Seeing Racoon City after so long, in ruins like that, is bone chilling. I cannot WAIT to personally experience the franchise for the first time myself when I manage to get my hands on this game. It looks MUCH more than promising. The title alone is an indicator for a much darker experience than usual in the urban environment. I only hope Leon makes a comeback as well.

Re7 undeniably revived the IP if you want to admit it or not, their numbers and hype went down significantly after 5. 6 was literally a flop because they completely abandoned their horror roots.
