Danke für die Informationen und die umfassenden Analysen, nicht nur zur Catalina 25, auf der die Jaguar 25 fußt. Weiterhin viel Spaß beim Segeln und dabei immer die bekannte Handbreit.

Thanks for an excellent overview of the Cat25. It was on my shortlist - and after listening to you, probably now near the top! I am not sure why there are so many who bash Catalina as a lower end brand. Value is the key word.
I especially appreciate the details about some of the features that only are available in later years - after 1986. I will focus my search on later years now.
Sounds like a good fit for my first Great Lakes sailboat!

Hi Geoff, thanks for the nice comment. Glad to hear you found the video helpful. I personally think the Catalina 25 is a very well designed sailboat. You shouldn’t have to hard of a time finding a decent one, with so many of them still out there. Also, it’s relatively easy to get parts for them, either through Catalina Direct or used anywhere else on the net. Best of luck to you. We hope you will find a good one. Cheers!

Since I have an 89 with hull #5894, you can say that there were far more built than 5866. Probably well into the 6k's by 1991, which is when I believe they stopped building them, not 94.

Thanks for the comment. I think you are right about that. Actually, closer to 6500 have been made. It has been in production worldwide for longer. In the UK 🇬🇧 as the Jaguar, and in Australia 🇦🇺 as the Bumaroo, or so. Cheers!

Very informative vid. Does the swing keel version still have the self righting feature? Thanks!

    • @SAILINGGOODOLDBOATS

Hey Mark, thanks for your question. As far as I know, does it lack a safety bolt to secure the keel in the down position, or any position it is in, really. The C-22 has this safety feature. The purpose of this is, to prevent the keel from coming through the cabin floor, in case of a capsize situation. The swing keel is also lighter than the fin keel. Granted, it is deeper, and therefore as a better arm. So, I think if the keel would fall back, in a capsize situation into its retracted position, the boat might not come back up. I hope this answers your question. Cheers!

Hello and thank you for posting. I do have a question. Which did you prefer Catalina 25 or the Bayfield 25. And could you elaborate on why. Thank you

Hi Brian, thank you for your question. I think it really depends on what you are going to use it for. My opinion in a nutshell: I think the B25 is the better trailer sailboat. I went into detail in the video I made about it. I hope that will answer the question why, as it naturally arises. The C25, I think anyway is the better performer, being intentional designed as a cruiser racer. As I always point out, every design is a compromise. Both are really great boats, in my opinion. Cheers!

I simply installed a through hull fitting in the upper part of the transom.

Now I got it. The twitchy cursor. Sorry about that. Lol! Think about it as a low-budget special effect. I must admit though, it's somewhat irritating for sure. Thanks for pointing that out to me. Much appreciated. Cheers!
