Another tip that might help with stability and weight distribution would be to fill those bowls or half fill them with like sand or cement so it's heavy and not easy to flip the table
Lol! I know what you mean. But he probably saw some inspiration photos of coffee tables or saw some in real life with similar designs and then thought of what he can get for cheap to recreate the inspiration. You’ve always gotta think what cheap materials are out there with similar enough shapes. Once you recreate someone’s DIY or do some yourself, you’ll probably start getting the hang of it. ☺️💕
My sentiments exactly! Who thinks of these things? "Oh right. I'll just turn these wooden bowls into cofeee table legs!" Wonder why I didn't think of that.😮🤪
Man I love you!!! I don’t care if a better, smarter, more polished influencer comes in.. hands down, you are the most resourceful & authentic design & DIY human on this planet. Way to go 🙌🏻
Decoupage the top with natural raw fiber paper, lacquer it down and see if you can cut a glass top for it. The plywood surface even though it’s painted a yummy dark color is not giving the best look when viewed from above. I did this too (different style) and this is how I fixed mine. The glass I used was recycled from a patio table (so it’s tempered). Just use LOTS of duct tape to brace it when cutting and cut just barely bigger because you need to sand the edges……. unless you want to use metal edging; like the cooper stuff used for making stained glass window decor which is pliable and easily welds together with a soldering iron and can be glued (w/industrial strength adhesive) to the edges like banding. Alternative is, custom cut a raw stone slab from the remnants yard at your local stone mason shop.
Drew, you are so talented! I have loved your work for a very long time, but lately you have been on a major artistic ROLL!! This table looks so gorgeous. 🥰🥰🥰
It's a beautiful idea. However, the top of the table need one or two other coats of varnish to make it wonderful. The actual finish look too rought right now.
Gotta love how there's ALWAYS someone negative in the comments. ☠️🤦♀️🤷♀️ He comes up with his own ideas, seeks out the materials, many of which are obscure uncommon items, he then puts hours into making it and then hours filming his work, hours doing voice overs and adding pictures and text, hours editing all the work he filmed. AND he has to deal with all the issues that pop up while building it because EVERY project has those. He does ALL that work and you're in the comments being negative. Why don't YOU upload YOUR work. You CLEARLY know what you're talking about. ☠️🤦♀️🤷♀️🤣
@@cececox6399you’re all about fake positivity and participation trophies. There’s really good advice in the comments. You assume you know what these people hobbies and careers are. You’re the negative one.
I love everything about this. The creativity, the shaping, the thrifty stuff, and the simplicity of the explanation. Even if I had zero knowledge of any DIY beforehand, I could follow this and get a great result. ❤
The couch and coffee table are giving japanese minimalistic vibes. Which I love. But everything else in your house has other vibes as well. Beautiful house. So interesting!❤
Totally beautiful!!!! To make it even more elegant could you cover the top with glass the shape of your table? Would look like a table I saw for 2,309.00 in Florida ! Good luck! I feel you could really do very well as selling your tables in the future as a side business. You are truly great with this! From Florida🌴♥️
Nice result but that glue isnt going to hold long term, if you make one of thesenin the future, use a few screws and glue to affix the bowls to the bottom before glueing the balls together. In fact im not sure those balls will last long either.
Would suggest to set a large dowel in the center of the cylinders for support. While finger joints are strong I wouldn't leave the outer edge to take all the weight. Especially for those that live up north with crazy seasons.
Frick, that’s a winner. I never would have thought of that but now that you ever so kindly pointed it out,…… 😂😂 just so happens I need a coffee table in the next month when I move! Yay.
What a wonderful idea I love the use of the bowls I feel for my aesthetic I would go with a live edge slab or a thicker hardwood like a 2x material and do like a butchers block situation just to give it more weight on the top to match the weight (size) on the bottom
How much did it all cost to peice together ? Ikea has become a new obsession but i also cant find the coffee table i really want and this diy knocked it out of the park ❤
Hi Drew can I ask about the mat or carpet in the room. I love it & am currently looking at similar carpet, what is the name of the carpet & what store brand is it. We have Boxing Day sales here so am trying to do some research. Jennifer PS I do like the table as well.
Sorry you should have put edge band on that plywood and probably thicker thicker plywood on an architect in furniture design that's my thesis so besides that you should have waited the balls a bit
Beyond stunning, such a unique idea & worked so perfectly! I guess you could add sand into the bottom bowl or pot even if you wanna mix the feet up atyle wise to help with weight distribution depending on size of table top too, but given that it's a lovely low coffee table it doesn't need that! So so creative, love it ❤
I love it ! But probably look more finished if you used a better quality wood for top of the table . Yes, I understand it would be more expensive but I think it would look even more high end and quality.
Another tip that might help with stability and weight distribution would be to fill those bowls or half fill them with like sand or cement so it's heavy and not easy to flip the table
This makes them more prone to open tho
I shouldn't flip unless you sit on it. The bowls have a flat bottom too.
You should suggest this before he completes this project
Great, then it's more difficult to move the table when you need to.
DO NOT DO THIS. 1.) it’s a mess waiting to happen. 2.) Furniture is meant to be movable.
How do you even think of this? I have never looked at an IKEA bowl and said "hey coffee table" Amazing!
Ha ha ha

It was on the drew barrymore show. They did this exact same thing on there. I’m guessing that’s how. 😂
Ingenious! Love that base! I used to think I was creative, but NOT LIKE THIS! LOVE YOUR BRAIN!

I looove dark wood! Its all time classic and gives so much warmth to a room..

Que belleza, amo la gente que construye, que piensa, que inventa, que es positiva y productiva.
💯🙏🏻👏🏻💌

Yeah, using stain prep helps this by filing pores so the finish is even

Cool idea, you can buy bamboo wood plywood sheets if you wanted to match the bowls with the same timber
I love everything about this. The creativity, the shaping, the thrifty stuff, and the simplicity of the explanation. Even if I had zero knowledge of any DIY beforehand, I could follow this and get a great result. ❤
Perfect example of high low decorating!!
Just under $200 is thrifty? 😩
Nice aesthetic, tho I would've filled the bowls with something to make it a bit more sturdy, maybe added some dowels or something as well??
Oh should have used a birch laminate plywood it would have looked so much better Drew, those balls came out beautiful!
Agreed! The plywood portion is killing me 🥴
YESSSSS!
@@forgiven213 Me, too!!!
Your creativity is off the charts!
Yes, I don't know who would think to use bowls like this! Not me. The table came out simply stunning. 😍😊🙌🏾
You could have added iron on veneer edge banding to get rid of the striped edge of the plywood.
The couch and coffee table are giving japanese minimalistic vibes. Which I love. But everything else in your house has other vibes as well. Beautiful house. So interesting!❤
Blemish and grain free plywood is available that will give a less rough, less casual look. Once stained it looks like ‘fine furniture.’
I've seen people use these bowls for making tables and I've been unimpressed with the results until I saw your video. This looks so good.
Drew I so have wanted to either recreate my existing coffee table or copy your DIY. Thank you

When you did that room I saw this coffee table and I literally said to my husband "Man, Drew finds everything!!!" I love love this table
I love love this! So talented this guy is!
You and becki owens are my TOP faves. Straight genius when it comes to design, contrast. You have such a good eye and such creativity! Inspiring ❤
WHOAAAA....CRAZY AMAZING!! Absolute genius!! As per usual for Drew. So talented!!
Unbelievably genius, not to mention gorgeous!
So creative. I love it. JB Weld is legit!
I think the table top in a few layers to make it thicker would look better in my opinion. But I love the idea 👏🏻 bravo

Hi Andrew! You are simply the best. Love your style.
I love this Lone Fox!! You are so creative. I LOVE LOVE YOUR STORE AS WELL!
You did it again, Drew. Fantastic!!!❤❤❤
Wow...this has a Crate & Barrel aesthetic 👌🏾!
When cutting plywood, or any other wood, use painters tape to keep it from splintering.
Love it btw😍
Would suggest to set a large dowel in the center of the cylinders for support. While finger joints are strong I wouldn't leave the outer edge to take all the weight. Especially for those that live up north with crazy seasons.
Super cute. Think you could do some concrete DIYs? Could be anything from another table to duping that Kim K home decor set that looks like stone.
Wow!!! I’m loving this table. You are so creative!
Nice cheap piece of furniture
Frick, that’s a winner. I never would have thought of that but now that you ever so kindly pointed it out,…… 😂😂 just so happens I need a coffee table in the next month when I move! Yay.
Okay stop. This is too gorgeous. Also…that tapestry!!! 😍
Very clever!! It looks amazing and I too love gel stain! So easy and less messy!
you are a genius, such a unique earthy modern look!
😮 💓💕💞 Thank you for sharing your talent
Adding a gloss would make it drool worthy. I like shiny! 🤤🤤
That is so beautiful. It is the bomb great idea. Thanks for sharing your friend Gerri.
Oh! We making tables now. I’m so here for it❤❤
Wow! You and Macenna are so talented. God bless you always. Have a blessed evening
🙏💙
Thank you Drew ❤
You inspire me 🏡 🎉
Great hack but you can still see the seams on the bowls, I think one of them is sliding off. Do let us know if you find a fix for it!
Wow 🤩 love the coffee table!!
Fantastic!!!!!❤❤❤❤
So very cool and creative! Thanks for sharing.
I’m so happy RUclips’s algorithm recommended your channel ! Your creativity is amazing !!
PLYWOOD y'all! I NEVER would have thought that was plywood. You are totally brilliant!
OMG, this is marvelous. One of the most beautiful coffee tables I've ever seen. Great idea.😊
I love your videos! You need to be hired by huge companies. Your creativity is amazing!
What a wonderful idea I love the use of the bowls I feel for my aesthetic I would go with a live edge slab or a thicker hardwood like a 2x material and do like a butchers block situation just to give it more weight on the top to match the weight (size) on the bottom
Drew you are soo creative! I love this DIY so much!
Love Fox! Your ideas are other wordly!!🎉❤
Awesome! I would like to try something similiar
Very cool! Came together well, but the plywood vibes 😕 Feels unfinished. What would finish that surface so it feels more luxe?
🤤I absolutely love it!!!! Nice....I'm impressed!
I agree plus it goes great with that fluffy couch in the background as well as the carpet
Omg it looks amazing! You did a wonderful job 💖
Oh my gosh! Mind blown 🤯🤩😍. I’m going to try this.
That's a brilliant idea! ❤ Cool table!
It’s beautiful, but you should have used something better than cheap plywood on top. The inferior wood on top really brings the peace down
Wow! Pretty amazing. Great job!
I love this table!! What a great dupe!! 😎
How stinkin cool!!!! It’s GORGEOUS!!!
That is awesome what a unique idea 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 beautiful
Great idea! Thank you for sharing.
Love it - would have gotten threaded rod and some brass accents in for my design!
Very creative!!! Love the idea!
If you sand and smooth the top before staining or painting and soften the edges As well, it really would look like a high end costly table. Good job!
You should put a clear apoxy on it!! Just to smooth it out so it doesn’t look like plywood ❤❤❤ LOVE THIS IDEA ❤❤🎉🎉
Dude! Excellent idea and execution! Do you think the balls are strong enough to hold a marble top?
The table turned out beautifully! Great job!
Wow, your sofa. Totally gorgeous. If I may ask the brand name please?
How much did it all cost to peice together ? Ikea has become a new obsession but i also cant find the coffee table i really want and this diy knocked it out of the park ❤

Wow! You never cease to amaze me.
Love this idea! I think I’ll put grippy circles on the top of the balls and a grippy mat under the table so I can move it around
You never cease to amaze me 🤍
You have to be one of the most talented human being on this planet. ❤
May you always be granted with creativity and kindness ❤️❤️❤️
I wish I had all the tools needed to do this. I've never been a diy type of girl but this looks so satisfying
Those bowls are beautiful!
WOW, what an imagination. Beautiful table.
How do you feel about the height of the table ? I made one similar, with the bowls, but after a year I’m thinking it could be higher in height
Wow
Can I ask why you didn't sand the top of the table? Just a preference, time constraints?
What a brilliant idea! New year, new life😍🎉🎉🎉❤
I love it! So creative!
You are a talented and resourceful man. I just love your taste in your home. Your home is gorgeous.
I love it ! But probably look more finished if you used a better quality wood for top of the table . Yes, I understand it would be more expensive but I think it would look even more high end and quality.
THAT IS SOOOOOO CLEVER !!!;I JUST LOVE THIS IDEA !!! JUST LOVE IT !!!!
Gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing your art!!
So creative definitely listen to the wood tips. That table is worth protecting
Gorgeous! Stunning! Beautiful! Creative!
