OH! I just found out you have visited my home town of SAN GWANN (St John). Lidl is only a few blocks away from where I live. San Gwann has around 14,000 citizens and has some interesting sites too. - Vince
Great video Alex! You should definitely try to come to Mosta for some good shopping and also very very good dining. If you come on a Monday there is the open market as well. Lots of different options in Mosta :) Hope to see you there! Great job Alex 🙂
Hamrun is known around all of Malta to be the best place to shop not just in Malta, but probably Europe... I didn't realize videos like this existed on YT, but I guess, you've now revealed the secret... Malta is the most affordable First World Country on Earth save prices of housing and some other things (which can still be very cheap in some instances). Maltese bread for instance? Around a dollar. And the tastiest, freshest, and most satisfying bread in the world. Many foreigners have said Maltese bread alone is a delicacy, which no other bread can claim. Clothing? Proper clothing... Proper materials. Many made in Malta. Like wow! I think I had a shirt as a kid, and you could have probably used it as a parachute it was that good the material. In Malta, if you compare it to Australia, their cost of living is about 4 to 20x less than what it is here (and for proper quality stuff...).
Nate. ty 4 ur comments. Many say Malta is expensive and overcrowded. Maybe it is, but i see it also has an affordable cost of living if you shop at the right places. ty and ty Alex
Hi Alex. I am so glad that you featured Hamrun as this is the town that my father and his family line were from. I, like you, have liked staying in St. Julians and Balutta Bay and true, it is more expensive to stay in these areas. To truly save money, you have to Stay and shop in the more remote areas,, away from the sea locations. I hope to be in Malta again in July and will be shopping in Hamrun. You should also visit the town of Rabat. Very historical and remote, pricing also quite affordable.
Very enjoyable, and your friend is such good fun to spend time with. You're both good fun. I love your videos, bringing back lots of memories of my one-week trip to Malta in December 2015.
Hi Alex. Why are parts of your videos flipped horizontally? I've seen so many like this. This last one had the logo on your T shirt backwards and some of the views of prices on the shelves.
Hey Alex, love this video, for people asking where is the best place to live in Malta, in my opinion it’s Santa Venera, it’s cheaper than St julians, everything is 10 minutes away by bus; hospital, university and most schools. Also it’s around 30 minutes walk from sliema/ st julians and valletta! And 20 by bus. It also has a lot of big supermarkets like Lidl and Welbees and very close to a lot of amenities. It is the neighboring city of Hamrun, Msida, Hal Qormi and Marsa, for me it’s literally the most convenient place to live in Malta, I don’t even need to drive because everything is so close and every possible service is available in this area.
Hey Sarah, thanks a lot for this detailed beautiful comment. I like SAnta Venera a lot, exactly as you described 🤩 thanks for enjoying this video and check the others, im sure you will find something fun :)
Lidl is actually German not Italian. But Lidl Malta imports all their products from their Italian sister company - Lidl Italia. So we're lucky to find many Italian products in Lidl outlets across Malta.
Hi Alex, I need your advice as I am visiting Malta this December with kids for 5 days. I want to know which part to explore and what is the weather like. Can we go to scuba diving? If yes which part is best. Thank you
Malta has many boutique shops with clothing imported from Italy at affordable prices, and they are found in small towns such as hanrum, Birkirkara or even Haz-Zebbug!
I just want to say thank you for your channel - I'm moving to Malta in 2022 and traveling light so this is incredibly helpful :) - can't wait!! I have one question you could possibly answer - from all the videos I've watched it seems like Malta has a lot of traffic congestion but people insist on cars - why are there not more scooters and bikes - it seems like the perfect country for that - or am I missing something?
Hi! I really enjoyed this one! This is more the Malta I'm looking for. Lidl, Gozo, what's it like living there?? (German citizen, 62 years old, living in Montreal on borrowed time, visa...)
Now that you found Lidl's I'd suggest you compare prices of the same supermarket in Mosta, Hamrun and Zebbug 😊 You can always negotiate or try direct from owner or through an agency. Agency will give you more options. Great video mate
Hey hey :) thanks for the comment, oh my oh my, imagine if i do videos of comparing prices from one supermarket to another, that will take years 😂 thanks for watching im glad you enjoyed it🤩
