- A young Ahmad Faraz sits in the audience at Pakistan Television's Lahore Studios as Tahira Syed sings Ahmad Faraz's Urdu Ghazal "Yeh Alam Shauq Ka Daykha Na Ja-ay". I was a middle school kid when I watched this as a live transmission during the 1970s in Lahore.
I would like to thank M. Tauseef for uploading this rare video clip. However, that having been said, it must also be remembered that the video itself is the property of the people of Pakistan as Pakistan Television is a government run corporation subsidized by Pakistani citizens taxpayer money.

I agree . . . .a gem of a modern Urdu ghazal . . . The singer, Tahira Syed, was a young student in Lahore's prestigious Government College (now a University) while the poet Ahmad Faraz was an up and coming modern poet and this was his debut on Pakistan's National Television . . . the occasion was Pakistan's first fair and free General Elections of 1970 . . . Pakistan TV broadcast live non-stop for three whole days to report election results . . . the results were interspersed with 10 to 15 minutes of entertainment programming . . . This was a live broadcast during those three days and it won the hearts of millions of Pakistanis . . . Tahira Syed became a popular singer after this and Faraz was launched as a brilliant Poet . . . He signed some movies where more of his ghazals were used (Ranjish he sahee dil hee dukhaanay kay liye aa) . . . I was in grade 7 and my holiday home work was to make an album of newspaper clippings of election news ... My aunt and cousins came from Model Town and stayed for three days watching the live transmission . . . we all camped in our large living room in front of a Russian TV (Augnik) our Dad had bought from film star Santosh's TV dealership.

Never seen her on TV, she's very beautiful and her voice is also very sweet and melodies, I know a lot of Pakistani singers from my teenage life until now, but never knew about this beautiful lady with great voice,, is she sings in 90s era's?
She is tahira syed daughter of malika pukhraj a renowned classical singer and yes her singing was mostly in 90s some of her recordings are also with her mother.

Tahir Shrief that is purely your own point of view . . . The original recording shown here took place in Lahore Studios of PTV during the 1970 Elections transmission . . . my cousins came from Model Town to our place in Old Anarkali (15 Lodge Road, Lahore) and stayed for 3 days while the election transmissions happened. The poet Ahmed Faraz can be seen in the audience during the studio recording. Tahira Syed sang with restrained passion. Faraz's eyes never left her face during the entire rendition.
