The tree stood naked in the city’s square
It started weaving a precious tale
In the forest it was voted as the most beautiful tree
And after they clapped, they waved goodbye to it
It set off with pride just before the sun set
It climbed down the mountains to decorate the city
While passing by the villages they gave it decorations
And cookies and sweets, lights and toys
It’s Christmas Eve and it arrives at a house
It’s snowing and it peeks through the small skylight
In the bare room the fireplace is out
And on the table the bread is cut in four
And two sad children are cold and hungry
This Christmas they won’t have food, nor candy
Without a second thought, it takes the decision
Shakes a few times and the ornaments fall off
It leaves its decorations on the front of the door
The children will have the best Christmas of all
Tra la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la …
It reaches the city just before sunrise
It never felt such joy in its entire life
It stands in the square and doesn’t even care
That it’s standing without ornaments, in rain and in hail
But suddenly a glow shines from its trunk
A magical glow, as if from a fairy tale
The glow makes its branches shimmer with light
And it turns into the city’s most beautiful sight
