Getting concrete poured in late 2021 was a challenge, but we got it done. We've designed the interior and are working with a contractor to build it, but materials and labor continue to be issue. Subscribe for updates! In case you missed it, here's the link to the Pole Barn build: ruclips.net/video/3ZBHDY4cBKk/видео.html
We have a whole series on building out the pole barn. Here it is getting framed: ruclips.net/video/IkBMM-n5UP4/видео.html Lilly and Bella come over frequently. They are good dogs, so we just accepted it! Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb
The only thing I did different on my pole barn was I coated the imbedded portion of the poles with roofing tar prior to pouring. It does a great job sealing the poles from the moisture always present in the concrete. I also put foam sill seal around the poles to compensate for expansion/contraction. This reduces the chance for cracking initiating from the pole locations. Otherwise, great job.
They make sleeves for them too. The pole barn has come a long way since then. Here's our build playlist and more videos coming on this! ruclips.net/p/PLG5yS75HLzo2MCmO8M-IQXfvkv-ivvpAU
This was a great one! I am ready to pour my floor if we can get above freezing temps! I am excited for you and how your homestead is taking shape. It is going to be great!
Good morning. Well done with the concrete. Fyi: I saw your picture made it on the outdoor with the Morgan video, viewers pictures. Titled "I'm done just spinning my wheels." About the 10:45 mark. Neat to see you on there. (I have officially turned into a dork.) Lol Sincerely Ed from Chicago
Good catch, Ed. We actually got two pictures posted on Outdoors with the Morgans. 1 at 10:50 and another at 11:06. The video of that day of cutting trees and digging stumps is coming up soon. Take care. Brad&Deb
Great video. Like how you showed part of the process. Would like to see or know about the project from beginning to end...laying out area, forms, etc. Permits if needed and so forth. What's the rate for concrete for the job? Like how you got multiple projects done at the same time. Planning is key. Thanks for sharing.
We have a video on the layout and build: ruclips.net/video/3ZBHDY4cBKk/видео.html And a video on digging the footings: ruclips.net/video/318GLu76PjU/видео.html Concrete was $6.50 a sq ft last October...it's probably more now. Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb
I'm getting prepared to build a pole barn. I've seen some people sit the posts on top of piers or footings, and others set the poles into the concrete. Obviously you put yours in the concrete. Any regrets with that decision?
I think some of the variance could be regional....frost lines and such. We are worried about wind load here in Florida with hurricanes. Our poles were dry set in concrete with rebar in the bottom of the post to stop lift. The footers are for further wind load protection, but also for erosion and animal control. Keep ours from digging out....and others from digging in! Here's the original build: ruclips.net/video/3ZBHDY4cBKk/видео.html
the mesh sitting hard down on the vapour barrier is very bad practice. the mesh should be in the top one third of the slab as a minimum, with proper top cover. the bar chairs are too far apart and are not providing the correct support to the mesh.,

That’s an exciting phase in the project. Cool neighbor dogs, glad you get along with them. Too many people don’t get along.

Making progress but it's difficult! How's your property coming along? Take care, Brad&Deb
