  • Martin Gore of Depeche Mode talks about Depeche Mode's overall activities in USA, especially Houston and Dallas, TX on October 13th, 1993.
    *- Martin L. Gore -*
We've been out, went out both nights in Houston.
We had a day off yesterday, took it a bit easy some show will be out tonight in Dallas.
Everywhere we go there, the rumor is party.
The rumor is wild the next day.
We usually do it when we do multiple shows in one town to make it different.
He(Alan)'s been playing drums on quite few of the tracks.
We do five songs with drums in a batch.
The thing I really like about the idea for this release is the fact that it's gonna be only The Songs Of Faith And Devotion Live.
There'll be 10 songs on it and they'll be in exactly the same running order as the last studio album.
There was a piece in USA Today the other day where they said it'd be the live version of Personal Jesus and Enjoy The Silence and things like that.
And a feature of 28 piece string session, I don't know where they got all those bits from but the basis for it was true.
It(Death's Door) only went out on the 'Until The End Of The World' film soundtrack, so most people, I don't think, actually know it.
And we've actually played that quite a lot live at the moment, it's a very different version, but I don't think we're doing it tonight, we'll probably do it tomorrow night.
The bulk of stuffs comes from the last two albums.
We do go back to Construction Time Again for one song, but other than that, mainly last two a few off Black Celebration and a few from Music For The Masses.
I actually personally prefer doing in all those small places, when the audience is really behind you and the whole thing is really contained and there's like no electric feeling.
I think you get so much feedback onstage.
I always used to feel a lot more nervous in those small places, you could have been so much more on top of view and I didn't ever get to relax so I like the small places more.

I like that the interviewer admitted he's shaking.
