- This town has some great scenery but deep down its not where you wanna be! On our stay here we met gang members, traveling hobos and dealt with many beggars. Kentucky opioid crisis here
I'm in Frankfort quite a bit and it is not like you described. There is road work going on but it won't last forever. I've walked around downtown at night many times and never had a problem. No people with attitude carrying guns that I've ever seen. Downtown has concerts, bourbon festivals, parades etc. Not to mention unique restaurants,bakeries, a bookstore,coffee shop,icecream parlor, museums,Irish pub, an old movie theater that also has concerts, great library etc.. There are a variety of shops. Frankfort is also known for its bourbon distilleries. The capital and its grounds are beautiful. So much history. Maybe I'm biased but I love it.

As a Frankfort native, how you described it was totally inaccurate. That building you said wasn't the capitol while driving downtown on US 60, actually was the capitol. Gang activity is not a problem in the town, with barely any situations needing large amounts of police. Road work is also not a problem. Once they start, it's finished within a couple of weeks to a month or two. I have also never heard of a "Tamale Festival". The town is known for it's Bourbon distilleries, parades, Derby Festivals, etc.
There is no Tamale Festival. He's being sarcastic. I've seen a few of their videos. Seems like they're just bitter people who like to drive around trashing places. I've noticed the worst things they ever talk about, they have no evidence to support. "I talked to a guy," or "What happened earlier." They don't bring receipts.
I visited Frankfort Kentucky for the first time yesterday,beautiful historic town,would like to visit in the summer when it's hopping.
My husband's whole family is from there, Although I haven't been there since the early 80's it was beautiful then.
I'm sorry, I do have to say not much in this video is accurate. This is my home town and is nothing like you described . I'm not sure what locals you talked to but this town no one carries a gun, we have no gangs, that festival I have never herd of, and every city in America has a drug problem but we are fortunate enough that you wont see any drug issues as you can tell by your drive through the town. It is a very sleepy town, I can tell by your video this was a Sunday afternoon, That bridge was closed down because there was a car accident that damaged the structure , I'm sure it was confusing but you drove right past Capitol Ave Bridge that would have allowed you to explore the Capitol side of the river. That Ice cream place is prob. the best within 40 miles. Please come back and see why people like myself moved here from Chicago and other

Meanwhile, I don't give a damn if someone is wearing a gun to seem tough. I'd rather be in a carry State where people are carrying legally to seem tough, than in California - where the criminals carry illegally, concealed, and then _shoot_ you to seem tough.

I used the live in Frankfort, it has a few real big pros to it, and many small but present cons. The Derby breakfast, Tamale Fest and the small town feeling Frankfort still has.
Lots of petty crime and drug problems though are definitely the cons.
The same applies to everywhere in the U.S. minus maybe a few hi-end areas, I'm in Modesto Calif. the meth/homelessness's is really bad around this 209 area code....

Fourth gen Frankfortian here and fyi at the beginning u are driving down a hill, passing the Capitol Overlook that u can see u edited past, right when she says, “that’s the capitol” you tell her “no it’s not, it’s church or something”. That is 100% wrong. If you had trusted what she said, you would have had a beautiful unobstructed view of the Capitol Bldg. 🤦🏻♀️
I've lived in Frankfort, Kentucky since 1968. I have never been a victim of a crime. I don't see any gang members walking around town showing off their tattoos? I feel safer here than other places up north. I also don't own a firearm and never see young people walking around waving their guns. As for problems with illegal drugs-what town or city does not have this problem? Even Mayberry had a town drunk LOL. Frankfort may not be New York or LA, but I'm happy here.

People aren’t really hostile unless you give them reason, typically people are pretty nice
I grew up there. U drove through were I went to school from 1st to 8th grade on 2nd st. I moved out of ther at age 28. I’ll never go back. But I got involved with things I should t have and just needed a new start. I miss a very few of mu child hood friends but that’s about it. Since I moved there’s been around 25 people I have known my whole life pass away. Most from drugs. Few from other things. Me personally. I had to leave. I just couldn’t get in the rite groove ther to succeed.
Dont go back…. Be a failure trying elsewhere first u got my respect. Fallow my story i too have had to walk
