That was something I remembered from my military days - never pick ammo you do not know the source of - which can happen easily in the "fog of war"! Great video, Ciao, L (Veteran)
They did the same in the Middle East too. Although there it was more trading purposefully inert rounds to mujahideen for food and other supplies. Apparently the real lesson is never trust Soviets to give you working ammo...
Kyle's story feels like a Final Destination movie: dodging certain death, only to meet his demise through a series of orchestrated events beyond his control. A̶T̶F̶ Death: "Meh, close enough."
@Kyle Derringer PKA is great, by far my favorite podcast. But @lefr33man is right. What is life without guns. Although he has inferred (never said obviously) that he still has guns multiple times. I would say that officer had more of a negligent discharge than an accidental one. he even had the slide locked back how could he not know his magazine with live rounds was in the firearm as well?
@Brett Davis that was not a malfunction. He had the slide back let it go forward with live rounds in the magazine that was still for some reason in the firearm. Plus his finger was on the trigger. It was negligent not accidental
If you break down AD vs ND, there's an obvious difference, and he had a negligent discharge. However, some places/people/training courses just use AD as a blanket term to cover any and all unintended discharges of a firearm. I think the recognition of the rules of firearm safety having been broken in an ND situation is important, but at the end of the day, most accidents are also cases of negligence. We call car crashes "accidents," even though negligence from one or more parties is almost always involved. I don't think the term "accident" by nature excludes dumbass accidents. NDs are a subcategory of AD. The officer may have known the difference, or he may not have. I wouldn't necessarily expect a perfect assessment of the situation in the minute following him shooting himself in the leg, lol.
Yeah looked more like a negligent discharge than accidental to me. Maybe it was accidental to him, but he said it was unloaded when it clearly infact was not, so that's just fucking negligent.
Jesus the fact that bmg had enough energy to, after the first ricochet, travel all that way back and ricochet AGAIN. I’m just surprised that bmg didn’t punch through what ever bit of steel he was shooting at
I actully got one of those sabatoged rounds once. Picked up a couple surplus chinese ammo crates from a gun show about a decade back to add to my collection. Well one of the cans was damaged and partly opened with many of the rounds heavily rusting so i decided to break them down on my press then reassemble for safe showing since i didnt trust them to be safe to shoot anymore. Opened one up and it had mighty odd guts. Showed it to a friend of mine and learned about eldest son from him.
@Patient 0 Do you happen to know if he ships internationally? Asking for a friend. O.o Did the poor guy have no hands at all or did he use prosthetics? 10:48 No no no you’ve got it all wrong. This man is an amazing teacher, so dedicated to gun safety that he decided to show, in person, how dangerous guns can be. He was strategically giving the class PTSD, so they’ll think twice before picking up a weapon. He went all the way, and I admire the dedication.
Loving the Darwin Awards. Absolutely hysterical, with some very good, sensible advice that the recipients should take note of. Keep up the good work. 👍
Calling it a glock 40 was his first fail. Glock 40 is chambered in 10mm Auto, and is the largest of all glocks to date. Would have left a substantial hole. His words as "glock .40" are correct, sure, I'll bet that's a .40, but "40" is not it's model. A 19 or 17 perhaps, but not a 40. Oh and the silly reggin shot himself. ;)
That dude in the classroom not only acted like the gunshot didn't bother him but accepted it was his mistake and used it as an example for gun safety. I'm kind of impressed, not gonna lie 😂
He cleared the chamber and showed his buddy, but still had the mag in. Drop the slide, gun is ready to fire. Basic clearing error made by the only one professional enough in that room to do it.

After playing with it a bit and field stripping/reassembling, I put it on safe Before chambering a round and kept my finger off the trigger the entire time it was loaded before putting it back... Just goes to show that kids being educated on firearm safety does more for overall safety than just trusting in casual training for adults..
"That was just unlucky" No no, that was the opposite. The Luck slider was like, hovering around 10%, + or -, and then it shot like, -1000% as the shrapnel came at him, them jumped over +10,000% as it clipped his ear protection and missed his braincase by an inch.

If he did not touch the bone, then this is garbage, I would have applied a tight tourniquet and could even walk for another 5 minutes with him .. Well, or a special spray that seals the inlet, and lumps of skin from the weekend .. but not with children
@@hibahprice6887 if you apply a tourniquet correctly, it stops the bleeding. It doesn't actually fix anything or get anyone up on their feet. The only thing you should be doing after applying a tourniquet is getting that guy to a hospital, not seeing if he can keep walking. They actually teach you that unless you are very well trained, you shouldnt attempt to apply a tourniquet. @@syndrome5372 The tourniquet can be kept up to 1.5 hours, depending on the part of the body .. Yes, if we talk about the body as a mechanism , then it is enough to patch the hole, if it is a leg or something like that, about which you can not sweat, just sew it up and that's it. Worse, when an artery or bone is damaged, then simply suturing the skin will not help. But as you can see in the video, the person did not fall and started yelling "ahh, help" and so on, he could run more than a kilometer with a hole in his leg, and so on, for such simple injuries there are quick solutions, in any case you have to go to the hospital, so you don't need to panic.

@The Weapon Collection if it is a failure within the weapon itself that would be an accidental discharge.
@Brett Davis it is not what that officer ended up having though. he ended up with a ND
Yeah looked more like a negligent discharge than accidental to me. Maybe it was accidental to him, but he said it was unloaded when it clearly infact was not, so that's just fucking negligent.
