I am french , i practice aikido, since years, i consider the aikido of Mr Shirakawa as the best aikido i saw in my life, with the aikido of my teacher too , i think sensei shirakawa really understand the soul of this art, i am sure he practice aikido almost everyday, i juge him better aikido than christian teissier who is amazing master too, thanks you to make us dream , best aikido in the world in my opinion.
All well and Not Only herently said. But the sub-question arises, what about Ki-aikido and real aikido. Is it on Ral aikido, which has much faster technical elements forgotten. This style of aikido nije jedini in the world, but has related bacanha skills etc.
USHIEBA... thanks...
Awesome! How sharp, dynamic and beautiful. How much effort, talent, and time does it take for Master Shirakawa Ryuji sensei to achieve this level of technique? I respect. You are a completely different Aikido superstar and the future of Aikido.
That looked like a very fun seminar! Thank you for sharing Sensei. I bet you could keep flipping a body around and around multiple times without them hitting the ground! Amazing! Kia ora!
I agree with all of the compliments below. Master Shirakawa demonstrates that for an attacker or aggressor, the outcome must be completely unknown - they will not know which was they are going to be turned, spun around or thrown, or if the motion will result in a wrist lock, or an arm lock. To see the beautiful flowing motion of spirals spins drops and throws is to experience the essence of Aikido of which I am a proud practitioner. Many thanks Sensei Shirakawa, and "put a rock in the pond".
Im a dancer and a gymnast. I have had 2 seperate aikido instructors try these on me and both got nowhere. The demonstration began slow and controlled but soon it was obvious they really wanted to go hard to save face in front of their students. I stalemated both until they asked me to leave and not come back. I have NO fighting ability at all. The experience taught me that aikido is just combat themed Dancing. I absolutely could never stalemate any actual fighter with nothing but gymnastics. Isnt it ironic that this all-powerful martial art, allegedly made to fight samurai, ..can be undone by a cheerleader? Thats all.
@@spg1794 Congratulations! After almost 1000 years of armed and unarmed combat training by some of the most fearsome Chinese and Japanese foot soldiers in history whose combat techniques have filtered down to us through to give us modern versions of Ju Justu and Aikido, it is you, who have "stalemated" these techniques. Specific to many martial arts including Aikido, when training in the Dojo, is a strong partnership of co operation between the practitioners. In Aikido they are called Uke - the attacker, and Nage - the "thrower" or defender. The movements of both are formalised, so that they can be practiced and learned. The movements involve learning to control ones own cenre of gravity whilst moving by sliding and positioning the feet in a specific way, and of learning to perform the breakfall rolling out either forwards; Ukemi Mae, or backwards; Ukemi Ushiro. As with many physical skills, we must start slowly in order to understand the movement, the placement of the feet, and the centre of the body - called in Japanese the "Hara" - just below the bellybutton - where, and how we place our hands and arms, and how we then manipulate the attackers hands arms centre of gravity, and energy mass with rotating and spiralling movements. This last point is very important; Aikido defensive techniques are most effective when the attack is full-on, full speed and totally committed in energy and intent. A real attacker, mugger, rapist, will have hate, revenge or malice in their hearts and will very unlikely carry out their attack, or ambush in slow-motion. Static techniques are not Aikido, and as an "attacker" if you know what is about to happen, you can resist at any point and prevent the technique from taking place. This is also not Aikido, neither is it helpful to the student who wants to learn and practice the technique. In a spirit of committment to learning, we show gratitude and thanks to our training partners which we exchange frequently - large, small, male, female, experienced, or beginner for allowing us the opportunity to use and abuse their body to practice with. This comes with the promise to fully commit to the ( formalised) attacking technique in order that the defence technique can be properly learned, practiced, and understood. This is not unique to Aikido. Failure on both counts to commit to one another can lead to injury, and has no place in the Dojo - all or nothing. You clearly knew what was coming, have great control over your own center of gravity, and balance, but did not want to commit to the training partnership of instructor and student. If you did not understnd the lesson, then either you had bad teachers, or lacked committment. Congratulations.
I didn't have a car today to go to Aikido so I did the second best thing: watch Ryuji Shirakawa Shihan: Feels like a workout!
I love your ukemi at 6:23 of the video, reversing the technique to become nage after the cartwheel. I am also concerned with the ukemi of the senior yudansha in taking break falls from the kotegieshi. Watch it in slow motion. It is very harsh on the low spine and hips and i wish for no long term injury. Can you show how to take ukemi that is safer for low spine in the technique? I notice if nage’s hand is belt height level during the throw, creates very harsh ukemi for uke’s body. If nage’s hands are knee height level, it allows uke to take less harsh break fall. Thank you for insights.

Stay well Sensei.
You make everything look absolutely light and effortless. It's as if a wind went through the dojo and threw people.

Very beautiful aïkido indeed. Mostly thanks to impressive and flexible Ukes. Congratulations to all of them.

Great seminar 💪🥇
A very beautifull démonstration off Aïkido .. good bye and long life ...
You are very busy. Take care! I'm rooting for you!
I've been practicing aikido for 10 years and I really like doing it
Phantastic Aikido! Thanks.❤❤❤
I'm Native American. By studying and learning aikido techniques from the sensei, I can definitely defend myself and my family

My late Sensei used to say:
Best Aikido looks effortless, but in reality it’s very difficult to do!

Sensei always has one more move than you...and he laughs as he conducts it!! Cartwheel!

Wow, this is in NTU??
