You are aware Kermode is a musician in his spare time (and even has a band called The Dodge Brothers)? So it would be in his nature to make comments about songs in his review.
@Regenmacher175 No, you're right: snarky comments about a song and nuanced comments about the structure like "What? Who? Why ... it's catastrophic" and suggestions such as "I don't care." I don't want to 'rationalize' the film or anything like that: I would like a proper review that develops ideas, instead of throwing them around in fits of hysteria and mock-outrage. I listen to the review and think that this guy needs to get a grip on himself.
Riseborough sounded articulate, educated, thoughtful and articulate: everything that the good doctor is not in his review. I have no idea whether the film is good or not, but this review is so vile and hateful that he never gives a clear argument. This is not a review: it's just a collection of adjectives and adverbs.
"I care less about these people than I care about the people in Sex in the City 2!"
And THAT, people, should tell you everything you need to know.

You are clearly choosing to not listen properly, or you are Madonna.
Yes, I am aware that he is a 'musician', quote-very-unquote.
