Thank you soo much for responding to my comment with a tutorial! I really appreciate your work. I have realised that the kinect 1 cannot work with the pointcloud tool... I am hoping to get a kinect v2 soon so that I can start experimenting with point clouds and start developing my installation further. Happy new year!

Hellow Stas! Hope you are well. I finally have a kinect 2 and ready to experiment with pointclouds more! I have a question, when you double click on the pointcloud container, another point cloud container and an icon container shows up for you. However, when I do it I can see the network inside the container straight away. This means I cant connect a kinect TOP to the container as you have in your tutorial. Any ideas why I can't access the pointcloud container like you? Thanks very much!
Hi! It depends on version, I assume. I explained it a bit at 3:19, it's better to use latest experimental version for working with instances - derivative.ca/download/experimental

Hello! I am also trying with a Kinect v1 interactive installation. Do you know how can i affect the change of the colour by movement? So for example if i go to the right it turns blue, i go to the left turns red etc? Thanks in advance
Hi! First approaches, that came to my mind is to use Optical flow component (it is somewhere in the Palette), it will give you changes between frames in 2D and for depth (going forward-backward) you could use Depth map from Kinect TOP (you'll need to substract previous frame from current one to visualize motion)

There are no easy solutions, you can try to clamp some noises or use Matte masks - it may work, but not everytime
how did you zoom in on the pointcloud module to make it camera view bigger at 7:05?
when I click and move it rotates the camera view not zoom in

Are you running on MacOS maybe? There are some limitations (incl Kinect) on it - derivative.ca/UserGuide/MacOS#Limitations_and_Known_Issues

Привет! С первым не сработает, там нет готового поинт клауда. Можно самостоятельно собрать, наверное, но там как-то сложно придется математику высчитывать. Но для каких-то целей может сработать простой вариант, когда мы XY равномерно распределяем вне зависимости от глубины, а глубину подаем в канал Blue. Выглядит это намного хуже, чем хороший поинтклауд со второго кинекта, но может пригодится - drive.google.com/file/d/1W3jQut6WHvW3zTj7WtyTdMo6Q7ZwXPjd/view?usp=sharing Только у меня кинекта первого нет, поэтому второй в настройках нод, но должно и с первым работать

In the video I'm using Kinect 2 with PC adapter, but if you have money, maybe better buy last version - Kinect Azure

When i set up my kinect1 to kinect point cloud, an error saying "All ops must generate the same number of instances (Have the same length)
May i know how do i solve this?
Hi! I'm not sure, that Kinect v1 can make point clouds at all, but it's not related to your question. All operators you're using for instancing must have the same amount of samples. I suppose, you're using point cloud TOP for tx,ty,tz and Kinect color space TOP for colors, so these two operators must have same resolution.

No, at least there is no built-in function for point clouds for Kinect 1. Maybe it's possible to make your own by using depth image as Z-coordinate, but I'm not sure
