Song: Postmortem
Raining Blood
Album: Reign In Blood
Year: 1986
Lyrics
POSTMORTEM:
Funeral held for the depression of man
Holds the key to his own death
Entering a tomb of a corpse yet conceived
Tighten the tourniquet around your neck
Sifting away the debris of hated life
Cold touch of death begins to chill your spine
Seeking life beyond your perishment
Repeating words echoing through your mind
Chanting lines of blind witchery
To save yourself from extinction
Wanting to die is your reason to live
New life born from the oppressed
Taste your blood as it trickles through the air
Another casualty beyond the shadows you fall
Losing ground, the fate you feel it draws near
Fatality, reality, you await the final call
My sinful glare at nothing holds thoughts of death behind it
Skeletons in my mind commence tearing at my sanity
Vessels in my brain carry death until my birth
Come and die with me forever
Share insanity
Do you want to die!
The waves of blood are rushing near, pounding at the walls of lies
Turning off my sanity, reaching back into my mind
Non-rising body from the grave showing new reality
What I am, what I want, I'm only after death
RAINING BLOOD:
Trapped in purgatory
A lifeless object, alive
Awaiting reprisal
Death will be their acquisition
The sky is turning red
Return to power draws near
Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears
Abolish the rules made of stone
Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past
Betrayed by many, now ornaments dripping above
Awaiting the hour of reprisal
Your time slips away
Raining blood
From a lacerated sky
Bleeding its horror
Creating my structure
Now I shall reign in blood! Видеоклипы
"DO YOU WANNA DIE?!"
I love that line.
Well? do you?
@@Metallislayer1 no
WANTING TO DIE IS THE REASON TO LIVE
Line of the FUCKING CENTURY
This isnt possum kingdom...
"Trapped in purgatory" The three most iconic words in the history of metal.
At the age of 15, I bought the LP Raining Blood and have been totally flashed by Slayer ever since. They have shaped my life and I still hear them today at the age of 48, like at the age of fifteen ... that must first create a band ... R.I.P. Jeff Hannemann
This album definitely has a place on the Mt. Rushmore of metal. Pure adrenaline-infused chaos from beginning to end.
I started then to but it was a cassette tape
I’m pretty much the same story bro
Lunalight Wolf 33 how’s that working out for u
@@jonsilver7171 Hell ya
The sound of rain is the end of Postmortem, and beginning of Raining Blood. C'mon, every self respecting metalhead knows that!
Frank Smagala and the power chord continues from postmortem into raining blood
And it is so calming.. love it
just pantera's underground in america and sandblasted skin
Thanks captain obvious
@@sleepyblade its fine necrophiliac blader
i love the smell of slayer in the morning, it reminds me of....Victory....
Nice a Sodom fan also!
@@GeorgeWockington01 yes, Sodom and slayer are both black metal

Can you hear the final thunder roaring?
By far the best song transition I've ever heard on any album.
That awesome album 👌
I simply just agree with you!! I have listened to thousands and thousands of heavy metal songs and nothing comes close, flawless!!
Listen to angel of death 💀
That 7 count thang.. Sheeeeit RAINING BLOOD!!!

@@classickid2185 I get notifications pretty fast I guess.
dudes where was I in the 80s i'm 62 and just got into slayer these guys are the best
listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, 3 Dog Night, Zepplin / Depp purple, ... and hopefully Sabbath and Zappa. All good, no harm no foul. :)
There best albums were in the 80s
As they say...Better late than never
Been a Slayer fan since a teen in the 1980s.This album still rocks thrash hard with punkish speed. Now 55.
51, almost 52.
Been a fan since '88.
Long live Slayer.
Total Fucken Awesome Album!!I use to wear this t shirt in 7th grade and my teacher would ask me too leave the class and change my shirt so i put on my South of Heaven one instead!Had to have a family meeting at school with the principal to find out what was going on in my life, like i was some serial killer or physically abused.Neither!!Narrow minded people.FUCKEN SLAYER
Not the same album but I was in a christian high school with nuns and I had the nailed bible from God hates us All if I remember well, sticked in the front page of my "daily book" (kind of note book were you note all your tasks, remarks for the parents etc. ) It had some effects even if it was just free, dumb and mean teenage provocation.
Dude, they will never understand. We are not like the others. Praise Hail SLAYER 🤘
@shafta99 I had a friend in South America who came from Texas and his father was reverand or something. The look in the eyes his father was terrifying. He rope a few times all his son's posters, prevented him to play guitar with outbursts of anger.
Yep, back in mid-80s country town Australia Yr 11 high school my mates and l had army jackets with patches & studs. Got made by the principal to remove them as they didn't have school emblems. l then went and cut the sleeves off my official school emblemed jumper. l thought that a fair deal. The really stupid thing was we wore high heeled boots, denim jeans & band t-shirts which also weren't uniform but got away with that.
Dude I have almost the same story but it involves my friends parents along with teachers calling a priest to my friend's house because of our Slayer shirt and are Cannibal Corpse tape they took from us I also was in 7th grade it was 1990 the good old days
Raining blood sounds so sick after postmortem
Angel of death is the best one
You fucking know it does !!!!!!!!!!!
always listen Postmortem before
Death,Metal
Reply,Friends
Van Ray yeah man
@@vanray6149 this is thrash metal, not death.
i merged the files so they always play together haha I think I actually like Postmortem more
The change~up at 2:09 and back again at 2:44 is absolutely remarkable. It’s like taking a deep breath in before diving deep, and then a huge exhale at 2:44, like you held your breath just a little too long under water. Excellent! !!!!!! 🔥🤘SLAYER🤘🔥
Let it bleed
Postmortem = art
The magic musical madness of Slayer, the quality of these musicians is breathtaking, a great musical album and not only of metal. Lombardo is amazing on drums.
You can't be serious. Lombardo is a great drummer but...
@@johnp82 are you kidding?
They was no blueprint
Other than the couple hardcore styles
They were pioneers
when the rain hits and you start crying you know your metal life has just begun
Dude
thats how to tell when youre drinking by yourself with music too much when it starts making you cry
the reason why Lombardo is the best Slayer drummer...majestic
Best album cover. So sinister, it's brilliant
finally, someone uploaded these two songs together...
the end of postmortem used to be my alarm tone and it used to fade into Raining Blood. By the time the riff started I was generally headbanding the shit out of myself.
Similar to me. I wake up with the help of Pantera, Domination.
My alarm is am I evil?

This beats Angel Of Death for best metal song EVER....says a 47 yr old metalhead who's seen almost everything ( who was a punk in 1985 onward )
what about a 13 year old sri lankan refugee child that turned gay for 3 years and went back
This by far is the greatest one- two punch in metal history!!!
Oh ya man, it's as good as if not better than Fight fire with Fire and Ride the Lightning!
@@Lich137 AGREED!!
I just said the same thing! That , and Deicide's one two punch that ends the "Legion" album!!

@@Lich137 Wat. That's not a 1-2. Ending chord is not the same as the beginning of the next song.
One of the songs that got me hooked on Slayer back in 1991 been a fan ever since
Here i am drinking my cup of tea while listening to this work of art.
Brings back excellent memories from my youth...
One of the most insane totaly head banging evil album ever made its fucking awesome!!

@George Strait ^_^
First concert ever, 1986 Olympic auditorium.
I was obsessed with my master of puppets cassette until my older brother and his friends took me for my birthday.
Unbelievable.
Classic thrash, many happy memories from hearing this again!
There will never be another SLAYER!!!!!!
Kreator
I love how the quality changes basically as soon as Raining Blood starts. It goes from MP3 quality to 8-track quality real quick
this is their best album imo
it's illegal to listen to these two songs separately
I used to get stoned out of my mind and then listen to this album. good memories.
@George Strait partially right, but i am older now and one changes. Music taste stays the same.
I am doing just that, as iv been doing the last few years 😂
You and me both.
Ummm...I still do! Fuckin SLAYER!🤘
😜🍷🍷⚡😁🙄used to???get stoned all day ...Slayer rule
one of the best Slayer song ever.
Glad to have seen them in concert.....
Oh yes, finally someone grouped these two songs together as they are by listening on vinyl! Two of my favourite Slayer songs and propably the reason I started listen to Slayer...in '87 I think?
LOS VI CON HANNEMAN....
LOS VI CON GARY HOLT...
QUE MAS PUEDO PEDIR...GRANDE SLAYER CTM!!!!!!
Two tracks bonded by blood!!!
I just can't believe how incredible the first 2 minutes are. Instraments and lyrics. Wow!!!
def one of the sickest metal riffs of all time!!!
🎸💀👍 I always considered these 2 gems as one song. Slayer should always play them in sequence during concerts. Just my opinion. 🌧️🆎
November!!!!!!! Can't wait to see these guys again after 25 years.

@ChaosTrident Good one
Right!
Yup these to songs combined is the best metal ever to grace my ears
Used to have someone who used to put this on for me on CD every time I went to their place. Will never forget those times.
Fkn Slayer man, I love a lot of metal bands but fkn Slayer man, they might not be the darkest or heaviest but nobody is darker or heavier
Jamming this on the 34th anniversary of this album!!
Hail Slayer!!!! 🤘
Sunday morning relaxing music. Soothing.
Best back to back songs on any album.
Any metalhead proposing: "will you be the PostMortem to my Raining Blood?"
Slayer is a way of life
I've always admired Dave's drumming. Saw them during South of Heaven tour, next to the stage. Moshed my brains out!
Dude...I just...every time I ask myself - "why is this so awesome" I can't ever answer it.
It’s soooooo fucking spicy every time I pump this album into my brain. Metal bliss. So much more than the rest
Still at the top of every sound ever created .. everything rots aways when this tune begins
2 songs of pure thrash metal intensity.. HEil Slayer!
Metal at its best.
The greatest one two punch in all metaldom.
Simple y sensillamente uno de los mejores albums de De Slayler,,, para mi opinión,, mil liks
Feel sorry for anyone who doesn't realise this music exists.
My first thought on hearing RIB when it came out in '87(?), was 'what the hell is that?'. 34 years later still listen to it more than anything. .
Came out in 86
'86 hit metalheads with master of puppets, peace sells, and reign in blood. What a year
Try NOT to headbang, I dare you!
I've failed!!!
This will always get me going!! Fkn love SLAYER!
Lombardos a beast
His fills are like guitar riffs
Everyones at their full power
I thought for so long what it would be like to see Dave Lombardo & Igor Cavalera play together on one stage and play in time on the same songs to hear hour certain drummers make the band sound because of the differences in styles. It would have been an awesome show.
If you haven't, you should check out The Melvins. Either the song "A History of Bad Men" or "Honey Bucket". Two drummers sounding like an octopus on cocaine in perfect time.
I love this band.......
Slayer... been listening to them since 86... they true metel...
They were ahead of their time in 1986 with this one
May be the best metal album ever.
And they say Master of Puppets is the best. Bullshit! This album is fucking metal at its best! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I fucking agree
2:45 >The crescendo of the the album< It sums the whole thing up.

My first concert ever was Slayer, Slipknot, Hatebreed in Stuttgart Germany circa 2004. They ended with Raining Blood and It was sick...
