That's easy to answer. Humans (one species of Great Ape) evolved with an "Us/them" mentality. It's in the genes. In many languages, the word for stranger and enemy are the same word. Unfortunately becoming agricultural took those traits and allowed them to get a thousand times worse. It's even in our brain chemistry. Just as Jesse pointed out, they’ve been multiple instances of Perry using slurs and threatening minorities prior to him ramming his car into a (lawfully-organized) BLM protest, and killing that Air Force vet. So, the whole event could well be construed as a racially-motivated attack.

Greg Abbott is the governor of Texas, a state which has, for the last decade or so, been extremely troublesome.
For example, in 2021, the attorney general of Texas bragged that he had prevented a Biden win in the state through voter suppression. He also tried to change the outcome and half a dozen other states.
What Greg Abbott does says nothing about the United States as a whole.
The Republican Party is what we have showing their weaknesses through atrocities and hardships. There isn’t a backbone in that party to stand up for what is morally right.

Where anyone can research the history, and find that a) the state came into being specifically as a reactionary response to growing anti-slavery outrage in the young USA. b) they made a ‘republic’ at first, but applied for statehood within a few years. c) white supremacy, and chattel slavery, were written in to the constitution of the republic… and then of the state. d) It took years after the end of the Civil War for the slaves in that state to finally be freed.

I'm a 64 year old white American, while at minor league baseball game in Columbus,
Ohio when I was 11 three black American youths stop me and demanded me to give them all my money. I finally was able to convince them that had spent all the money I had that they finally gave up. This experience could have scared me for live. In last 53 years since I have met many black Americans and found what those young men did, did not represent many of the black Americans I have met since. Most if not all I have met are good decent people and some had gone out of their way to help me out when I needed help. No one will ever convince me that they are subhuman beings and not deserving of the same rights and advantages that have been lucky enough to experience as an American citizen. We are all God's children and he loves us all equally. I will always stand up for equal and fair treatment for all Americans regardless of there race, color, creed or gender. I judge people by their actions and character. I'll leave final judgment of their souls up to God. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, none of us should cast the first stone and certainly not just for the color of their skin. As Richard Nixon said those who hate only destroy themselves. Hate and anger should never control our actions. I remember the BLM protest rallies being peaceful and riots didn't start happening until counter protesters started showing up at these BLM rallies in fact a national guardsman who was present at one the rallies said the ones he saw rioting were the counter protesters. This man's actions were motivated by his hatred and he should still be behind bars as well as the 17 year old kid who shot 3 people killing two in Wisconsin.
We by now know we have a problem so Biden should verbally address this, call it out and say our protection agency's should be pritecting ALL of us not some of us.
