And who says the production team for the video itself are any good? Jesus christ, think before you write crap like that. If you think Hetfield is a worse singer than Mustaine (which in my mind is a complete joke), just listen to the S&M record of the live performance with the SF-symphony orchestra for example. He is an EXCELLENT singer. Sure, Lars is not the best drummer in the world, but without him, NO Metallica at all. He, even more so than Hetfield, is the reason behind their massive international success. So foregive me if I say that it sounds kind of hollow and totally unimportant to speak of his drumming actually. I would say he plays as well as he should. Im sure that in your oppinion there are tons of bands out there with better singers and drummers.......well, go listen to them then. I guess it's more the inability to play songs that weren't hard to begin with (80% of their catalogue) despite making millions. I think as a musician it's insulting to see someone successful give absolutely no shits about their fan's experience, even though all it would take is practicing. Plus he's playing really fast here and his bass drum usage just sounds so muddy and awkward. This guy has people paid to set all his shit up for him, he travels the world and makes money doing it, and yet won't even practice extremely basic double bass, in his own damn songs. I mean some performances of One, in the double bass part (that's easy as FUCK, I'm a drummer too), he awkwardly sputter through it like a broken go-cart. How someone gives such little ducks about their fans and still gets defended is beyond me. He's good a tennis though

Just watch the other three drummers of the big 4 and if you can't see the difference then you have got issues. He's so slow and he is constantly tripping himself up with his own fills.
Because every song is about 7 minutes longer than it should be with repetitive riffs and the crowd would get bored. Keep them engaged with the classics.

(Just my own observations) I love Metallica's live energy and interaction with the crowd, but I also like how Megadeth sounds almost exactly like they did at their peak (minus Dave's vocals, which are totally overdubbed). Watching Creeping Death here, it seemed way too fast - some of the heaviness and power of the song is lost, to me, when they play it that fast. Also, not only is Lars a pretty bad drummer, the actual sound of his drums is terrible, especially the snare. Kirk can't solo like he used to, and tries to cover it up with wah and improvisation. James' voice here is a shadow of what it once was, although now it is actually much better, with more grit and aggression. Overall, both Metallica and Megadeth have strengths and shortcomings. Fighting over which band is better is useless; first, we're using the same arguments that people have been making for the better part of thirty years. And second, it's a matter of opinion and what you like in your music; there is no right or wrong answer.

I went to the big four in california and metallica blew everyone away besides slayer. ive seen slayer a few times as well as anthrax but megadeath wasnt that impressive at all. Metallica by far the best band out of all four and thats without a doubt. Song after song is just sick.
Their guitars sound like shit. They need to find whatever equipment they used during the Seattle concert on the Justice tour and use that. The guitars in that concert are crunchy as fuck. These sound like they're coming from the downstairs apartment.

Justice tour EQ for everything was the 80s metal way: No mids, lots of treble and bass, like a over exaggerated happy face. Sounds like garbage live, everything is indistinct. Yeah, in a recording live enviroment, things can be fixed. Now, these guitars are cleaner, thicker, punchier, less harsh. The garbage stream quality is what you're hearing.

Record labels own you. Period. People. Rember guns and roses? They were the hottest band at the time, were breaking records with their record sales, selling out arenas and then POOF! gone. You know why? They were infamous for their diva attitudes. The thought they ran their own lives and labels wanted nothing to do with them anymore. James is the better singer and song writer. Good at rythym guitar. Dave is better at lead but James has the better stage presence. Cry about Metallica selling out all you want. They brought a broader audience that gave thrash a chance. Both Megadeth and Slayer bennefited from that. Metallica led the way in '83 and they are still in front of the other three.
all in all ive seen many of the great metal bands play live, ive seen iron maiden, megadeth,anthrax,black sabbath,motorhead,ac/dc but i have yet to see metallica, they played glasgow in 2009 and i missed out, please come back again soon so i can be there front row and centre XD
They had to bring it down because James threw out his voice after the Black Album, I still enjoy listening to them live from more recent concerts, but it's definitely better listening to old live shows

Because every song is about 7 minutes longer than it should be with repetitive riffs and the crowd would get bored. Keep them engaged with the classics.

I love Metallica's live energy and interaction with the crowd, but I also like how Megadeth sounds almost exactly like they did at their peak (minus Dave's vocals, which are totally overdubbed). Watching Creeping Death here, it seemed way too fast - some of the heaviness and power of the song is lost, to me, when they play it that fast. Also, not only is Lars a pretty bad drummer, the actual sound of his drums is terrible, especially the snare. Kirk can't solo like he used to, and tries to cover it up with wah and improvisation. James' voice here is a shadow of what it once was, although now it is actually much better, with more grit and aggression.
Overall, both Metallica and Megadeth have strengths and shortcomings. Fighting over which band is better is useless; first, we're using the same arguments that people have been making for the better part of thirty years. And second, it's a matter of opinion and what you like in your music; there is no right or wrong answer.

I went to the big four in california and metallica blew everyone away besides slayer. ive seen slayer a few times as well as anthrax but megadeath wasnt that impressive at all. Metallica by far the best band out of all four and thats without a doubt. Song after song is just sick.

Their guitars sound like shit. They need to find whatever equipment they used during the Seattle concert on the Justice tour and use that. The guitars in that concert are crunchy as fuck. These sound like they're coming from the downstairs apartment.

Justice tour EQ for everything was the 80s metal way: No mids, lots of treble and bass, like a over exaggerated happy face. Sounds like garbage live, everything is indistinct. Yeah, in a recording live enviroment, things can be fixed. Now, these guitars are cleaner, thicker, punchier, less harsh. The garbage stream quality is what you're hearing.

If you thinl your favorite rocks stars are bad asses and do and say and write and play as they please, you know very little about the music business. When a band signs a multi million dollar contract with a global record label, they are OWNED. countless peoples livelihood depend on them. They have stylists, managers and producers telling them what to do and when and how to do it. Do you think dave mustaine wore bullet belts with button down GAP shirts and sports coats because he wanted to? You think metallica wore eyeliner and cut their hair and wore flannel by choice? Record labels own you. Period. People. Rember guns and roses? They were the hottest band at the time, were breaking records with their record sales, selling out arenas and then POOF! gone. You know why? They were infamous for their diva attitudes. The thought they ran their own lives and labels wanted nothing to do with them anymore.
In short, people speculate why metallica made bad music: they sold out, family problems, drug alcohol problems: thats all bullshit. The label and producers insisted: take these lyrics, play at this tempo. They did their best to make it work. They made very wise business decisions. Metallica did their best to maintain their musical integrity. They did not sell out to make more money. They survived in the music business in a way to ensure they wouldnt lose everything by trying to be a thrash band their entire career. Original metallica fans such as myself were a little disappointed here and there. But so what. They are a legendary hall of fame band that has made amongnthe best music of the last 30 years. All this nonsense about them being "sellouts" is simply bullshit written by 15 year old experts . Anybody who knows anything about the music business knows why metallica is the most successful metal band in history, and why 55 year olds who still try to be 80s thrash bands can barely pay their rent.

James is the better singer and song writer. Good at rythym guitar. Dave is better at lead but James has the better stage presence. Cry about Metallica selling out all you want. They brought a broader audience that gave thrash a chance. Both Megadeth and Slayer bennefited from that. Metallica led the way in '83 and they are still in front of the other three.

all in all ive seen many of the great metal bands play live, ive seen iron maiden, megadeth,anthrax,black sabbath,motorhead,ac/dc but i have yet to see metallica, they played glasgow in 2009 and i missed out, please come back again soon so i can be there front row and centre XD

Yes, they put on a tight show. So what. Metallica on the other hand is a band with the personality of a band - and with all the kinks and eccentricities that make a band cool. Its call being real.

I will never get why people don'y like entirety if music genres. I can see disliking an entire genre, but not individual bands within a genre, I just can't see it.
