Mine too. So sad when you wake up (from busying with this worldly affairs) and look around you, seeing your brothers and sisters doing the same, busying themselves with affairs that will not benefit them. Not in this life, nor in the hereafter. And you ask yourself "What are we doing? Why are we so busy with these worldly affairs? Why are we arguing and fighting about matters (wordly matters) that have no value to Allah?".
And this is the situation in which I am struggling day after day. When I was a little kid, I didn't mind anything. But I already had those questions. And now, Alhamdulillah, Allah granted me more knowledge and understanding of the religion. I feel like I am a stranger. When I talk to family about this they look at me as a strange person.

Praz Yeah we conquer new lands to spread Islam to the rest of the world. That was the goal of the Muslim conquests, not some worldly gain like the European colonialist who would enslave the native populations and take their resources. When Muslims conquered lands we spread the oneness of god and brought out the best in the native people and made them stronger. This is evident everywhere Islam has spread: Iraq, Iran, Levant, Turkey, Egypt, Maghreb, Iberia, East Africa, South East Asia.
Praz Yeah there is only so much convincing can do. Also, it’s hard to spread a religion to an area which is enemy territory where they would literally behead you for converting people. An intervention is necessary to get rid of the leadership in order to introduce change to the people.
Think of it as how the west spreads democracy and does regime change nowadays in places that are lead by anti-western regimes. If one supports the need for intervention and fighting to spread justice in other countries then one should have no issue with the Islamic conquests.
Only a moral relativist that believes in the idea of “everyone to themselves” can argue against Islamic conquests.

Some clearing of fog needs to be made here.
First of all, when the ummayad caliphate invaded Spain it was ruled by the Visighotic kingdom. The Visigoths were a western germanic branch of people who originated somewhere in northen germany and southern scandinavia.
They conquered Spain during The migration period. They were not in other words natives of Spain.
Secondly, the perescution some here talk about occured after the ummayad dynasty were replaced by The almohads. In other words, The whole period was not just perescution.

In fact, they would intermingle with hispano-romans, adopt catholicism and vulgar latin, etc.
The arab conquest put everything upside down, making christians the pariah of this time. So it is just natural that they were perceived as invaders. Christian Spain was fucked up at that point, but not so much that they forgot their history from the 1th century (Augustus) to Roderic (last visigothic king). Arabs were not related to the roman world, hence them being not considered natives ( and I'm not saying that they were not natives at some point. An arab born in Cordoba in 900 AD would probably qualify as a "spaniard", obviously a very special breed of spaniard). Language, religion and culture, that's what's all about.
I didn't know that actually. It seems then that the DNA of natives were still around. And in that case it is also natural as you pointed out that eventually they will adopt the culture and language of the more stronger empires who conquered them. I now begin to see the point you made by refering to how the hispano-romans viewed the arab invasion. Obviosuly they would view it as an foreign invasion whose culture and religion far differed from their own. It is possible that, that would change had not the reconquista succeded.

When many "Saracen" was massacred in Spain and Sicily in 15th century, Indonesian started to convert to Islam from Buddhism and Hinduism. Islamization of Indonesia and Malaysia was completed in 17th century AD. Nowadays there are approximately 210 million Muslims in Indonesia and 32 million in Malaysia, twice the population of Sicily (5 mio), Portugal (10.28 mio) and Spain (47 mio) combined.
Please notes that we Indonesian are not Middle Easterm, Arabs, Turkish, Iranian or even South Asian. We are Austronesian same as Filipino whose original homeland was in Taiwan and Zhejiang province of China, although we are genetically closer to Thai, Khmer and Vietnamese. We are Mongoloid by Blood with Paternal Haplogroup O-M175

The conquest of Spain was one of the most brutal and horrific displays of barbarism and violence during the early middle ages and it was committed against a people who already had academic and spiritual traditions which stretched all the way back to Rome. Spain had culture, it had learning and the Muslims did not create their own institutions there for almost 200 years. Muslims need to own up to the atrocity of the conquest of Spain if we are ever to view Islam as a religion worthy of respect.
The Spanish just recovered their land because they were invaded by foreigners imposing their religion. Get over it and try to improve your own country. Spain belongs to the Spaniards. Period.

And the Moghul King Aurangzeb donated land for Hindus to build a temple. can you site anytime in history when other religious states allowed Muslims freedom to practice their religion. Well, it's funny that at least half of those great people were of native Spanish Christian background, I wonder if that had something to do with it. Also, Ibn Rush? Seriously? But it IS there and and as such whether it's from the Phoenicians, Carthaginians or Moors; it proves that they were their ancestors too and should be held with the same esteem they hold the Romans and Visigoths who were ALSO "invaders" and yet from whom they more proudly claim descent.
And before you try to make it seem like I'm against Spain or Iberia or something...I'm not. I'm Puerto Rican and so _their_ blood is _my_ blood. Plus, according to DNA Tribes 2013, (under "Nine Continental Zones Admixtures: Native American and Latino Populations": Puerto Rico by population is about 49% European, 18.3% Saharan-Arabian (Middle Eastern), 12.7% Native American, 12.5% Sub-Saharan African (black) and 4.9% West Asian. So we're even more mixed than them and have even more Moorish blood which I'm just as proud of as the blood of my _other_ races.
But truth is truth and the Moors were no more invaders than the Carthaginians, Romans or Visigoths who also invaded Iberia. Not to mention that the Greeks and Phoenicians left their mark on Iberia too but unlike the others, they weren't out to conquer. So don't treat _them_ like outsiders when the Carthaginians, Romans and Visigoths were ALSO outsiders. That's called hypocrisy.

My exact words were that the Carthaginians, Romans and Visigoths (from whom the Iberians also claim descent along with their _native Celt-Iberian ancestors_) were ALSO "invaders" yet they used to be regarded with more pride than the Moors.
I refuse to believe that they were regarded as Saviours. Why would iberians flee to the mountains of Asturias,a region with little resources and where they could starve to death just so they can establish a renegade kingdom against their "saviours" ? Also those "saviours" also tried to invade France but were utterly crushed. Why didn't the French allow themselves to be "saved"?
As long as the emirate of Cordoba was united the Christians didn't dare to attack them but when the emirate of Cordoba disintegrated into smaller Taifas this is when the Christians found their opportunity and attacked. And occupied a large part of the Emirate of Cordoba. Then came the Almohads and the Almoravids but they to eventually lost their grip and power. This is when the Christians dealt the final blow and the fall of Granada marked the end of Muslim rule in Spain. The lesson we learn from this is that as long as the Muslim Ummah remains united none can harm them but when they divide into fractions this is when the real downfall begins.
