He's a good fit on the left. With Martinelli not performing to his best, Sterling is a solid substitute. Makes good runs, passes well and poaches goals. Even for such a short adjustment period, I think with a few more games he will do well.

Sterling I better than Martinelli. I don't know why people keep hyping him. At this point it's Arteta that wants him to be in the team. When a player is likable fans are more patient with them even when they aren't performing compared to those who aren't likable.

Martinelli needs to learn and watch how Sterling looks up instead of being selfish to relaease the ball when it matters ... he did the same against wolves ,also againt Villa he fails to release the ball and neither looked up to see who's free
martinelli on the bench period, an average sterling is worldclass you can see it from this clip. His creative pacy can pass can score everything we want martinelli to be atm imagine having him on the left and saka on the right opponents wonts ancticipate where the danger is coming from

Saka Rested Alot in this match cause Sterling's movement and pace were too much to handle I hope he improves on the End products cause Sterling and Saka on the pitch will create Alot of Headaches for Opposition Defenders

Needs to be starting soon. More dorect than martinelli and for that goal he assisted honestly does martinelli one time put the cross in. Ive seen it bwfore he would drivblw down and try gwt back on to hos right. I think martinelli needs to come off the bench and get confidence back that way. Sterling in his prime years (29-30 is said to be the prime year for footballers) and hes lookin sharp for real. A season in bench for Martinelli while building his game and confidence slowly back up are gonna do Wonders
Prime for a winger is probably a bit younger. You need plenty of pace which tends to go with age. I would say he is near the end of his prime as a winger at least.

That's why wingers tend to move more centrally when they're past 30 because their physical attributes are declining. You think Sterling is going to be more durable and faster as he gets older? Lol
@RedHeadRGR actually, athletes tend to reach their peak around 30 y/o in terms of speed and strength. Thats why most 100mm sprinters achieved their best time around that age. The problem is you tend to pick up more injuries at that age too which declines your physical attributes

This was Sterling's first start of the season he's a month away from being fully match fit. Some within the fanbase do not want him to succeed owing to their Martinelli bias. I'm sure Arteta knows why he wanted him....could you imagine Califiori Merino and Sterling on the Arsenal left December/January ? Not to mention Odegaard Saka and Timber on the right...
He kept Bolton's defence busy all day. I have always loved him during his Liverpool days and feared him when City used to treat us like kids.

@@LuzangaKaponda if was the coach of Arsenal, ESR will still be at Arsenal. Arteta didn't gave him enough game time to play after he came back from his injury. I always rate him high and he prove it before, so look at ESR now at Fulham.
@@zabluoc4549bro he will just get injured again. Arteta done a fantastic job of saving his career so that he can play more in the future. A lot of people don’t understand this. Arteta protects injury prone players. He did the same with Tierney.

Doku is by far more threatening
Doku does not score goals and doku does not go anywhere. He makes some fancy moves, but most of the times he is in the same spot. I have been watching doku a lot. ManCity scored the equalizer against arsenal when Grealish blow by the defender and crossed the ball into the box. If doku was still on the pitch instead of grealish I don’t think ManCity would have equalized because arsenal defenders had him pinned. To be honest Sterling goals and assists at ManCity is way more than Doku. It’s not even close.
He did really well but still not just a starter yet. He just needs to polish up on this performance
