I'd just found out that CN had taken up trackage rights on the old Illinois Central. I'm super surprised that it happened ! I rode The City of New Orleans from Chicago to Nawlins in June of '92 via Amtrak. This was done totally from a railfan perspective. It was great to ride those rails & see the Illinnois Central Gulf. I was disappointed that ICG had changed their paint scheme from white, orange with black lettering to all black w white lettering at the time. Now I feel fortunate enough to have seen them at all... At the time, I was also thrilled to see Wisconsin Central around Chicago. Plus the CTA/Metra commuter trains, which were still using the old E-8's still half way in their Burlington Northern livery.... But man, CN reaching down to Nawlins ? I also recall seeing tons of sidings with bulkhead ended flatcars stacked with pulp wood & high-sided hoppers filled with wood chips. I was guessing, at the time, that this was the particle board/plywood industry in action on these rail sidings. A lot of smoke in these areas, too. I'll give myself a lot of credit for having remembered any of the above; I was severely crippled at the time- drunk ! Young, dumb & full of cum, I mean, Newcastle Brown Ale !! 😎
I've been here a few times, really loud diamonds, you can here them a mile away on Route 59. Wonder if any trains roll through here at 3 in the morning. Residential area. Saw Big Boy here to.
That real railroad chatter. That diamond crossing. Nice!
Wow very longest train. Nice video..
The trains crossing the diamond is music to my ears.I wonder if I could rent space in the tower?😁
Thats an awesome double dimond .Inbetween 2 crossings!
I would think the signallers in the Tower would have a constant headache!

That CN manifest was sure not a local its to long!
They have a speaker that amplifies the clanking noises.
Mike Day No, I've worked at this crossing and these tracks will leave your ears ringing.
(6:35) why is the metra f40ph lights still on?
+roy ubaldo I don't know why, but it is interesting.
roy ubaldo trains like that don't show the lights on, however I believe they forgot to shut it down before doing a depart to Chicago.
Correction. 4 tracks ? Quad dimond over a opposing single track? Mega cool
No its just 3
outstanding, how come da engine's do not us their horn's?
This area is known as a quiet zone. Engines are not allowed to use their horns in this zone
John Ackerman Not true. They can, @ there discretion, but most don’t. Same in my town.
High maintenance nightmare.
El primero si estaba largo.
did any one count the amount of centerbeams in the first manifest?
