- In this series of videos, I explore the Victorian High Country. This is a magnificent 5000 square km of rugged wilderness located in far north-eastern Victoria. In this video, we travel from Howitt's Hut to Lake Cobbler, visiting the iconic Craig's Hut (where The Man from Snowy River was filmed in 1982), along the way.
Welcome to the “4xAdventures” channel. Bringing the experience of touring remote outback Australia to you since 2017.

**Thanks For Watching This Video**
Great video I can't believe your production values are so high keep up the good work you've inspired me to pick up my game on my videos thanks once again for a great video
Thankyou! Just trying to make something I’d like to watch (although ironically, I never watch my own videos once I’m done with editing them) 😊👍
Have to agree..it’s like watching a wildlife documentary..his voice was made for narration.

I’m so jealous. Can’t wait to get there
😂👍
What a place, brilliant.
I highly recommended this series of videos.. the best I’ve seen on the Vic high country
Thankyou kindly! Glad you enjoyed them! ☺️👍
I stumbled across your channel and really enjoy this Vic high country series. Inspirational! Can't wait for more.
Thankyou so much!! Glad you are enjoying the videos! 😊👍
Your editing is wonderful.
Thankyou kindly! 😊👍
This video is so well done. Don't have the skills yet, but bucket list for sure because of your videos.
Thankyou kindly! 😊👍
So grateful to have the vhc on my doorstep. And a nod to the video production, a lot of time and effort clearly gone into creating an episode that's so easy and enjoyable to watch - sound levels, narration, music choice and timing add so much to the quality of a video.
Thanks very much!
And yes, you are very lucky to have all that so close by. It’s a beautiful place!😊👍
Never seen such grass at Howitt’s
Found your channel and you’ve captured the essence of the bush. No ridiculous thumbnails, no sensational mishaps that that never happen. Just touring. Nice.
Well, that’s precisely what I saw. No filters or post-processing of footage. What you see is what I saw. It looked pretty spectacular at first light. 😊👍
Thankyou! I try to simply present what happened. Sometimes it's interesting, other times it's a full day of red dust :) Glad you like the videos!
Another great instalment Artie! Music was on point and editing was 2nd to none. Well done indeed. Cheers Steve
Oh, thanks very much Steve!! 😊👍
Good work worth the wait Arty I think your best yet
Thanks very much Paul! Glad you enjoyed it 😊👍
Beautiful visual storytelling. I loved it!!
Thanks very much! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊👍
Nicely done mate... Best part I like about your videos are the perfect introduction to the video... keep it up mate!
Thanks very much! Glad you are enjoying them! 😊👍
Beautiful
Thankyou 😊
What a wonderful experience,,such a beautiful place, Thankyou so much Attila, please show us more ☺️
It’s a beautiful place indeed! 😊👍
Good video as usual nice and relaxing to watch. I bet those river crossing don't look like that at the moment
Thanks very much! 😊👍
Great video mate, we just came back from a very similar trip. Craigs Hut as well as Mount Stirling summit were highlights for me. What amazing scenery. Our first time to the High Country and it won't be our last. Have to say your narration is amazing. Just a little jealous 😃
Thankyou so much!! 😊 Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, the high country is spectacular! I can’t wait to get back there.
All the best! 😊👍
Tracks cross rivers not the other way around. Wonnangatta is not a mountain top plain (but you did get to one at Howitt Hut). Having said that the videos are great and I actually enjoyed listening to your descriptions of an area I know well from a new perspective.... especially the comment about researching Howitt Hut to see if anything interesting happened there. The video work is first class. Next time don't camp at Howitt Hut, drive down Butcher Country Track for a km or so and camp there. Also, take the time to go to Guys Hut and Bryce's Gorge or, for the best part, walk out to Mac Springs.
Thanks very much for the feedback and advice! Much appreciated! All the best! 😊👍
Hi new to your channel. the rock spill is not from mining it is volcanic. lake cobbler was a swamp man made keep up the good work.
Hi Mike. Welcome to the channel! Thanks for the info! I thought it would have been covered in soil & grass by now, so I assumed it was something recent. I couldn’t find any info on it afterwards. But great to know. Thanks!! 😊👍
@@4xAdventures i did see it on another channel sometime back .
PS that's a rock scree area. You find them all over the high plains. Blue Ribbon Chair at Hotham was built on top of one and Mt Loch opposite Hotham is almost entirely rock scree. Around Mac Springs there are a few of them which you can see on google earth.
Oh cool! I’ve never heard of a rock scree. Just googled it. Fantastic! Now I know how it formed. Thanks heaps for the info!! 😊👍
@@4xAdventures No worries. Take a look at google earth around that area and you'll quickly realise they are all over the place. I watched the rest of your vids. I seriously rate you as one of the best producers of this content out there. Fantastic trip across to Davies Plain. With old and young blokes you come across often the younger bloke is a bit serious. However, I couldn't help agree that it freaks you out; particularly around Limestone as it is so very remote.
Thankyou so much for the lovely comment! I really appreciate it & am glad you are enjoying the videos. It’s certainly a labor of love as they take a lot of work to make, but it’s worth it when I see people enjoying it.
And thanks for all the info on the high country. I’m looking forward to going back to explore further. 😊👍
Marvellous storytelling through great editing and narration. Your images are wonderful. Love the wide angle format. Gives an impression of cinema quality. What camera do you use?
Thanks very much! This trip wasn’t really planned - it just happened last minute & I tagged along, so all I had with me were some old GoPro’s.
💯 %
You’re so lucky to live in Australia..apart from the things that can kill you on dry land and in the water 😅😅
Would Craig's Hut be ok for a beginner 4x4 ?
Absolutely! It depends on which route you took, but it’s really not difficult. From memory, most of those tracks were rated easy or medium. Craigs hut gets a lot of visitors, so you should be right! 😊👍
If I may be so bold as to add some driving tips from an old time VHC local - Do not tow or snatch in reverse. Front drive components (diff, constant velocity joints, universals, axles, hubs etc) are all of a lesser build than rear components. So too with manual reverse gear (I know you are auto). Not as strongly built as rear components and when they load up in reverse with another heavy load, they can fail. Always tow/snatch driving forward. I can tell that you are running far too much pressure in your tyres. Let them down to smooth out the rocks, allow the tyre a chance to mold to the terrain, your car and your bum will thank you. Try 24 psi and then 20 psi for the rocks and dirt. Don't drive with road pressures for bitumen roads.
Thanks very much for the tips! Always happy to listed to advice! I was running 25 psi for pretty much the whole trip, but could possibly have gone lower. But the other info re. snatching in reverse, I didn’t know so really appreciate the tip! Thankyou. All the best! 😊👍
